    I haven't been able to play for over two weeks thanks to a pinched nerve preventing me from sitting or standing for more than about 5 minutes. No way to make a prone PC setup. So I'm playing vicariously through your videos. Thanks, Baradul.

      The Hero Archer-T is a God of the battlefield; it's still my second-highest damage mech behind my Atlas, and it still drops with two Highlanders and the Atlas...because it's just that damned good.

      @@digitalis2977 I always prefered stalker since with 85 tonns and 4 missile slots you can make him a lrm spammer with 2000 rockets.Stream ones with artemis just wipe out mechs.If you pilot it you can do hosing with chain fire-endless stream of missiles raining down from sky .

    @Baraul, I just read a good post on Reddit about how the friendly AI prioritize weapon groups. I think that you can solve your friendly AI range keeping issues by putting the LRM/Long range weapons in the first weapon groups for long range oriented mechs, and the short range weapon groups first for brawler AI builds. The AI prioritize the weapon groups in order, and thus try to put their mechs in those ranges. So, LRM group 1, MLas group 2 will keep at more range with lasers as backup, Mlas group 1 LRM Group 2 will make the AI pilot charge into the fight to get into MLas range, firing the LRM on the way in.

    I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first comment. I'm old enough to have played Battletech tabletop back in the day and I loved it when I was in highschool. I finally got Mechwarrior Five and I've had a blast. Your videos convinced me to meet an old love again. Now that said... The Agincourt hero Archer (received via a quest) is one of the greatest tools of destruction I've ever sinfully enjoyed not being nerfed. Mine is loaded with almost all the SRM Artemis it can carry. There are two SRM2 rather than SRM 4 to fit in more double heat sinks. So it has 4 SRM6 + 2 SRM 2 and the 4 med lasers. In addition, with the tighter missle cluster upgrade, using level 4 SRMs and the other missle upgrades this is a 108 alpha that can be reliably headshot. With the faster running/turning/twist upgrades, (it has eight upgrade slots) it runs at 71 kph and turns better than most medium mechs. With the extended range upgrades it send the SRMS at over 350 meter range, and with the cooling I can pop three full missile strikes before running into heat issues. Short form, I run up to an atlas, remove its head, run to it's friend and decapitate that, and if I get hit along the way, the mech is also tanky. SO ummm yeah... Archers...

      Love the Heavy Rifles.Rapidly becoming my favourite ballistic. AC 20 damage at 800+m for 8 tons is ridiculous, even with an 8 second reload. I have a tier 5 on my Marauder, with 2 ERLL and 2 ML. It absolutely wrecks. And my Gray Death with Heavy Rifle, LRM 10 and 4 ML is even more ridiculous for a 55 tonner.

    Bara you really need to spend some time sorting your fire group priority for the ai mechs.
    #1 is highest and then it drops as the numbers go up. You can get your AI to work better if you tweak these.

      jah but its weird: they use the player issued firing groups prioritising by numbers 1-6, but also prioritise the most damaging group. so if you put the archers medium lasers in group 1 he might be fight too much in close distances, if you put lurms in group 1 he will chase distance more than actually shooting

    I have been playing a lot recently. In my current playthrough I have 3 archers for my lancemates. All with the same build, 2 lrm 15s, 4 mlas, lots of ammo, good armor. I postition them on any hill spread out just a little bit and tell them to wait. Then I go in to brawl and I have a ton of support. They sit back and log missiles for the entire mission and have 12 m lasers between them to team up on close targets. They have been through about 20 missions straight with nearly no damage, and it makes cleaning out nests of enemies very easy. I prefer the brawl anyways.

      I got the hero archer and I put 3 srm 6 and 2 srm 4’s and it basically just shreds everything in 1 to 2 salvos.

    @baradul, I dunno if you read comments on your old videos, but just in case you do or someone else who's learning is reading: at 1:22 you said "I want my friends to be able to fire basically all the time". Except what you're doing is skipping over the things that allow you to do that. Every time you refit a mech you need to set up fire groups for the AI pilots, and you need to put your mechs in formation properly. The standard formation unless you're running a mod, is a diamond in Y-config. Bay #4 is the tail of the Y, bay #1 is the center, and bay #2&3 are the forward slots. You can verify this by pulling an all stop and seeing how your AI mechs deploy themselves around you. Wherever you are standing and facing, they will array themselves in that Y. With all of the above, for instance if you put your LRM fire support mech in position 2 or 3, and leave the weapon groups set up with button 1 as alpha strike, your LRM fire support mech will instead charge ahead into the fray, waiting until he gets close enough for his shortest range weapon and then just alpha strike. They don't know no better. Hope you've already caught on to this info in the year or so since you posted this video. I'm still catching up on your videos and enjoying every minute of them!

    I'm almost running the same build on the MAD, except I'm at 2.21 heat management because it needs it. I'm also only on a tier 2 LBX but otherwise even your mechs in the bay and other choices are similar. I love the Archer for sending massive streams of missiles into anything that moves. Black Knight 6 with Beagle but I've got a 7 and 7-L in storage (just bought it, haven't tried the Beagle yet, not sure if I'll like it), two Thunder Bolts though I haven't tried the TAG yet, etc. I've been loving this series, I hadn't played a MW game in a few years and twisting wasn't in my brain until you reminded me of its importance.
    (Now if they could bring me an early Christmas present and announce a Clans DLC with my TBR-C or SHC-A, I'm not picky or anything, packaged with a large hardpoint bow.)

    @Baradul, I have not seen you use any upgrades yet that you got from the cantina quests. You need to spend money on the upgrade battlemech screen to actually get those upgrades you already worked to get.

      he really does not have the money for it yet, when he gets his 8 primary mechs settled he can do it. (it is so expensive)
      4-6 heavies and 2-6 assault mechs is the ideal mix (i run agnicourt archer 3 T-bolts, a firestarter KK (for demo missions),
      1 battlemaster HE,a cyclops sleipnir, a maurauder 2 M, an Atlas boarhead, and a Stalker 3f as my crew. with 2 open slots.

    Champion is a fun mech, great for mid game, I had a lot of fun with it. Had a tier 5 ultra AC5 to put in it fortunately and had a blast with it

    1:32 - Put a heatsink in the head. It gives a chance to absorb a critical hit. It also reduces the chances of losing that heatsink dramatically.

    Did you know that you can use both single and double heat sinks on the same Mech? so you don't have to risk losing all the double's on one Mech Great video

    You definitely can make do with 18 head armour. I ran it all the way through the campaign on the original game with no problems

      unless you put ammo in the head. i just lost an ai pilot 58/60 in his atlas to a headshot blowing up that ac20 ammo :D

    Was playing MWO, in a Jenner. Walked up to a ridge line to get eyes on the enemy mechs, and saw 6 LRM mechs turn and look at me. I backed out of line if sight, then saw the Raven...TAG! Their missiles blocked out the sun. Fairly sure my AMS just hopped of my mech and ran away...

    You can instant strip a mech by dropping it in to storage, no need to wait for it to be stripped if you're wanting components for another Mech. I think it may also be free as well.

      It is free, and he knows it works this way because he does that before selling mechs. Very frustrating he keeps paying to remove stuff when he is basically entirely stripping a mech anyway.

    Loved the TAG missile storm! I've been playing. Had to restart because I didn't have enough money to pay for repairs. My last mission was a defense and my Lancemates strode through the defensive area then the enemy forces moved in and kept playing a not so fun game of tag.... I think my own guys did 80% of the damage to the defensive area and we failed the contract :(

    Been running a heavy cannon on my marauder with 2 large lasers and 2 med. Its been sick slower fire rate for the cannon, but heavy damage and amazing range. If you haven't tried the big gun yet you should!

    I have a MAD-3R with 2 LL-SP 2 Medium lasers and a heavy rifle. (double heatsinks are a must)

      Switch out the 2 LL for 2 L-Chem and then your heat will be a lot better, non-stop firing lol.

    you could try going for the head especially if ur using weapons like lasers since u can adjust slightly the landing point... with the black knight a precision burst can kill a lot of mechs. its the fastest way to take out heavies and assault mechs

    Funny thing, I took the PPCs out of the marauder and put in large t5 lasers as well as two t3 mediums and kept the burst ac5, that alongside the Orion, just melts through armor like a hot knife through butter.

    to use AI lrm mech, you need to tell them to sit a location just a bit behind your engagement area, or to the side. I mainly use them for defense missions and tell them to stand on a hill near the defense target.

    I would suggest the Heatsink fix mod. Currently DHS equipped mechs do not benefit as they should from engine mounted DHSs.

    Set your weapon groups, it affects pilot behavior. From my experience, it's priority 1-6, I have a PPC warhammer that stays at 500m, and I see AI trebuchets and highlanders try to back up when you charge them.

    if you use go to postion they take defensive position and move only in a small area and attack everything in range is good if you have big hill

      I just finished that last night. I didnt make it through the first time because my AI units couldnt make it up the mountain and I didnt realize i was by myself. I waited patiently for them the 2nd time through.

    Put the mech in a cold storage and back if you want to remove components instantly.Then you can rearm it with what you need for less money and time.

    Im confused about an information in the game.
    When in market or mechbay, the game tells you "weapon rate of fire = 20 shots per minute".
    While in combat, you get the "cooldown bar" instead.
    With that said, those upgrades that reduce cooldown, are actualy more effective on weapons with longer cooldowns(low fire rate).
    Did i get it right?

    I've found that the AI pilots do really well with PPCs and AC/5 or 10's but they cant lead the 20 well enough our figure out that LRM boats should not charge the enemy

      My stalker actually stays away from fights pretty well. It might be because I have ER L Lasers as weapon group 1 and it forces it to prioritize engaging at range and shooting missiles while lasers are cycling. It has med lasers too but I shoved them in the last groups so it doesn't rush in to use them.

    Stalker with 4 medium chems and 2 large and 2 more srm 6.400 rounds of medium ammo 600 rockets and 200 rounds for large lasers.rest in double heatsinks.
    It just keeps going and going ,and going untill everything dies.Chem lasers are so op.

    I have an extreme dislike of the Champions.
    They're glass tigers, and even though the weapons are mostly in the body and not the arms, the left torso has such a large hit box that it may as well be an arm.

      Black Markets, a few years into the future from game start. Cantina missions that give a weapon also give its ammo so try picking up Light rifle rewards when you see them.

    Noob question new to game. Lasser weapons example large laser teir 1 before I equip it tells me range of 450 looking at it on my avaliable equipment. Once I equip it on the mech slot I look at the tool tip info and it tells me max range 675. So which one is correct and does the 450 mean drop off for max DMG range as it also tells me max range is now 675 on mech stats for my crab that I sold my soul to get after i encountered like 15 I finally got 1 lol.

      675m is the overall max range of your mech depending on the weapon with the largest range. 450m is the max range of the laser. The optimal range of the laser will be around 300m thou.
      Unfortunately in the hangar you can see max range only and in the cockpit optimal range only. So if you fit an energy weapon (all kinds of lasers and ppcs) and take a look at max range you always need to deduct like 40% to get the range shown in cockpit. Energy weapons will deal less damage beyond optimal range.
      Missiles don’t have that issue thou. Their max range is always their optimal range since they don’t lose any power over distance. Just keep in mind that lrms have minimum range.

      I'll give my teammates decent weapons in torso slots, but arm weapons? Nope! The AI still loves getting its arms blown off far too often! Heck, if it is a Hunchback, I won't even put good weapons in the arms for myself because even I can't keep the arms from getting blown off that thing!

      Counter mode disables other ecms in 400M radius,Disrupt makes you harder to hit with weapons ,missile locks harder on you.Not bad to have on 1 mech since it has 200m range.

    I have never run a dragon or a marauder. I run the TBolts till I can't stand it anymore and get bored with them, then get the heavy mechs going. Good to see the tag worked though. You and those worthless lbx's LOL. You keep using a useless wep no matter how much you see it isn't worth the effort. Oh well...each to his own death :) ER Large SB are so good, especially with a gauss.

    Is it just me? Stream missiles seem more accurate but have more time to lose target or have them get behind cover before the whole stream gets to them. I use a Art Lrm 20 st on one of my mechs and it takes down even assault at range pretty fast. From light to assault they all seem to hit. I don't even have the convergence perk on that mech. Even on smaller mechs 1 to 2 shots is enough to soften them up. Light mechs usually die or lose a leg. Anyone else test them out?

      Im thinking your artemis system is the reason why its doing work for you. The normal lrm volley seems good in tagging fast moving targets with something, if not all the missles.,streams are good for slow moving things and let you put the whole thing on target. Artemis is just too good

    I don´t really understand the LB-X. It looks to me like trying to kill Mechs with sandpaper. Solid Slug or even standard AC10 makes more sense to me. Or even the heavy rifle mentioned below.
    And for swatting Igors, that´s what the double PPC is for.

      I prefer the LBX, it does the job and I enjoy watching a long range shotgun destroy a Commando at a ludicrous range as the pilot screams about losing equipment. Slugs are nice too, but they don't give the same feeling. I'll take a half a point of DPS loss when I aim poorly or misjudge range for spread.

      Every long range weapons are better for the AI. PPC, LLaser, LRM etc. Because if you make them an burst SRM brawler for example, the enemies will aggro to your AI and he'll dead pretty quick.
      But brawler might still work for light/med mech. I still love my AI SRM commando, it legs the enemies like crazy. xD

    I honestly have been enjoying your videos for what seems like since the beginning of MechWarrior 5, however I wouldn't mind it at all if you did away with that little view screen with your face in it because I enjoy the action I can enjoy the action better if I'm not always distracted by your face.     weapon groupings on your archer should be lrms on 1 and 2 and mediums on 3 and 4 so it does`nt rush in to use the mediums like an idiot.
    same aplies to your T-bolts, since weaon groups dictate Ai behavior more than lance placement.
    Also there was a crab with sldf gear in the store, for more double heatsinks that you missed
