Took a much needed vacation to the Dominican Republic with my family back in April. On my last day there, I woke up to the sound of heavy rain so I got out of bed, sat down outside by the pool with a lit cigar, a glass of dominican rum and connected my phone to the sound system they had at the villa with the volume turned all the way up. Bumped this solid mix from start to finish, all while watching the rain fall...Words can't express how crazy that entire vibe was. All I'm saying is that I want you all to live your life to the fullest by eating right, getting plenty of exercise, taking your vitamins, and traveling the world because in the end, the memories are all we have left. Peace and salute to all my junglists both old and new, male and female. We have a job to do, we can't let Jungle die.
21:22 "Pure energy, pure thought" is a sample from Star Trek TOS season 1 episode 27 "Errand of Mercy" that aired on 1967. About 3min 30 seconds to the end of the episode Spock says this line after the Organian council reveled their true form to Captain Kirk and him, transforming from something humanoid to orbs of light. Facinating!
I love the dedication to research on this track because it a banger🔥🔥 so many times I’ve had to replay it. 21:09 it get deep. Peace to all my dnbjungle heads✅❤️
Tunes between 2015 and 2021? Sounds more like 1996-1998. Superb! Nice to hear the golden era of D&B resonating with the new producers of today. I have decided that this is my soundtrack to Monday mornings and . . . . . Friday evenings.
@@lanmichaelmix2818 I learned about the drum and bass genre thanks to the breakdancing cat meme, fell in love, and now plan to make music inspired by the ones from the late 90s to early 2000s
This is one of the best mixes of this sound i've heard in a LONG time. Thank you so much. This deep, somewhat minimal, pad-heavy, spacey atmosphere combined with incredible upbeat breaks is one of my favorite genres, and as much dnb and jungle as there is out there.. this particular niche of a sound is hard for me to find in recent times. Again, THANK YOU
Just stumbled on this mix and feel exactly the same. This sound was fantastic in the mid 90's, I've always been an avid follower of Bukem but i struggled a bit with the jazzy vibe he had around 2000 onwards. This is relaxed but dark and moody. Love it
My dad introduced me to DnB when I was a kid, around 1995-ish. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff he would play (had stacks of it on vinyl). As kid I always wondered what the future would look like, but I was pretty damn sure this is what it would SOUND like. And to a point I was right. Intelligent, ambient DnB from the 90s still sounds like it could have been produced today.... or in another 20 years from now. It somehow manages to transcend time all together. If and when humanity truly masters space travel, maybe a few centuries from now, and populates other galaxies, I'm pretty sure this is what they will listen to on their inter-stellar travels.
i can't even describe how happy I am to see this stuff make a resurgence. it was always good, people just stopped making it i guess. i suppose that's true for a lot of genres
It reminds me of a past that never existed, and there is no word to describe the feeling expressed by this genre. To me, it's at the crossroads between existential dread, ego dissolution, and deep sadness. Maybe when the electronic era started, us humans sensed what it meant for the future of society and put it in this music.
@@TheIDK91 I hope this type of music becomes a long-lived expression of "this is the way things are now, trying to chill while everything around you moves at 1000 miles an hour"
To me it reminds me of water cgi from the 90s. In Sonic Adventure, the opening scene has Chaos as a fully evolved water dragon lookin thing. You see the water crash through a building. This kind of crisp water cgi, somehow it's what Jungle sounds like to me.
I've been listening to Dn'B, jungle, darkstep, drumfunk and similar sub-genres... but I have never been to a rave there they play music like this, only psytrance, darkpsy, chillout raves etc. I bet it would be lit asf.. standing in the middle of the dance floor and hear to bass drop with the most fkn wicked amen smashing breaks known to man! Damn I would like to experience that shit!
North Carolina believe it or not was biggest mecca for DnB in US since late 90's. Used to have big Rinse and Repeat Drum and Bass convention every year on the coast by or in Wilmington for like 3 days long. Would take trip to NY thinking "yeah bout to check out some massive jungle" and go to Concrete Jungle (was a big weekly back in the day) and there's 30 people there tops or some shit all the kids were into the untz untz untz untz... 😂
