    In Mark Lewisohn's book "Tune In" he claims this is the first recording made at The Abbey Road Studios - in November 1931.

    Having got some of Sir Edward Elgar's Recordings including the famous 1932 Recording of the Violin Concerto with a 16 year old Yehudi Menuhin on Pre war 78rpm Record Numbers DB-1751 DB-1756 the first LP Transfer on Red and Gold ALP 1456 and the Second LP Transfer on the HMV Treasurey label HLM 7107 Recorded at the Abbey Road Studios on Thursday and Friday July 14th and 15th 1932 I found that Performance to be very Magical

    We know exactly the tempo the composer intended. This is the era of the first recording of George V to the people. Very early.

    I've got some of Sir Edward Elgar's Recordings including the famous 1932 Recording of his Violin Concerto with a 16 Year old Yehudi Menuhin on the Original Pre war 78rpm Records DB-1751 DB-1756 in the Pre war 78rpm Record album and the first LP Transfer on Red and Gold ALP 1456 and the Second LP Transfer in the HMV Treasurey Series HLM 7107 and on the two C-D's one from the American Victor set on Naxos and the other one from the His Master's Voice Set on EMI Great Recordings of the Century
