It bad Bruce Texas home aren't design to with stand below freezing temperature night after night. Some Texas home have high ceiling to let the heat rise so that people can stay cool. Now that that design is freezing people in their homes.

There isn't enough power to go around. 53 percent of the power comes from Natural gas and half of it is gone due to frozen pipelines because ERCOT decided to cheap out on insulation and pocket the difference.

Natural gas spiked Feb 12, just before this. Lots of people in Texas are using natural gas while the powers out. Next month it'll cost then x 100 % too 200 %.
I can remember as a child my grandmother having a wood burning stove it would keep the house nice and warm she had lanterns for light no electricity she had a pump water you had to pump it to get water and she had stockpiled or wood old fashioned ways were simpler these modern days are a headache

IIRC, it's more the cold snap than tech. The gulf is right there, it usually keeps things pretty balmy except 2020's hurricane season decided to pump all that heat directly into space so there's plenty of heat for space, and not enough for Texas, or the rest of the sunbelt really.

Just look at any outage map of Texas and you can see that the coops were prepared. The current blackouts are to keep from having an uncontrolled grid failure that could mean over a month without power for anybody in Texas. Digest that!

It even has a "cold pantry" as part of the design. We installed air2water gen, and our next project is to try and capture methane to use for cooking. Apparently they can do it in India, so why can't household in America do it?
You need to look into plumbers price gouging us. Bakers brothers is scheduling appointments, then texting customers the day before claiming they need to charge $200 extra to keep the appointment.
