Yea i gotta admit, I was shocked with the 1’s and 2 on value. For a 6 yr old bourbon under $50 I think is great value in todays market.

Agree. Solid 3 all day; although, I will not have this on my shelf.

I get the thought behind the pilsner analogy, but given y'all are in SD, i'd recommend trying a pils from Eppig. That might show that even pilsners (some say the hardest style to perfect) can stand out as impressive. Anyway great vid guys as usual!

Tough scores, but I think their Wheated Bottled-in-Bond offering is the standout so far, and I'm curious to see how you'd rate it. Hopefully they release a higher age and higher proof version of both down the road.

I was told the Bardstown BiB needs to open up, I did not enjoy my 1st pour, and I was excited to find (try) the bottle.

Video ideas for you guys. Powers John's Lane, Redbreast 12 CS, Port Charlotte 10, Bunnahabhain 12 CS...

    • @pickleeater3102
      @pickleeater3102 Год назад

I was disappointed in the John's Lane. I think I paid $65 or $75, and it need to be a $40 bottle.
BTW, Port Charlotte 10 is excellent. But wait, there's more; blend Port Charlotte 10 with a strong, solid proof bourbon in an approximate 4:1 ratio. Maybe 3:1 (PC 10 to bourbon).
You can thank me later. Phenomenal

Disappointing result, I would expect more from Bardstown but I do think the value scores were a little low.

Value at 1?? I can’t think of a 6 year stated, non sourced bourbon on the shelf for less than $50. I actually thought they were super conservative with the price. Can’t wait to pop my bottle and see how I feel about the other scires

Wild Turkey 101 is the same age or older, higher proof and half the price. Pass.

I think the evaluation was fair except for value. OWA’s MSRP is now $50 and you only find it for that if you hit the retailer while it is coming off the truck (at least in my area).
I agree with Dutch, some extra proof would help this. It reminds me of a good barrel of MGP proofed down to 96. Anyone with a 6 year barrel of MGP this good would not proof it down this much.
I will say that I wasn’t very impressed with this until a) I had it open for 4 days and b) I didn’t try it next to the BiB Wheater. That BiB Wheater is next level.
I think what sort of got mentioned, but not really is the fact that this is a new bourbon profile. That’s exciting! Right now, we have the heritage distillers: Buffalo Trace, Barton, Brown-Forman, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, MGP, Four Roses, Cascade Hollow (Dickel) and Maker’s Mark. Nobody else is turning out quality bourbon in any kind of quantity consistently and at a good price point. I think BBC has added a new distillery to the list and that is truly exciting.
The base distillate is good and the bourbon will only get better with age and a higher proof point. That is a reason to jump up and down with joy. Your hearts are hard.

Great show - hope you eval their BIB. I often think your value score should be a calculation of some kind based on price and all the other scores. Value to me is everything else compared to price. Keep reviewing 👍👍👍

The black label of the Origin series is even better than the white label that you rated....hopefully you can get a bottle to test against this one?

Great review and I'm looking forward to trying it. Hopefully they do a cask strength. I do think the value scores should be higher. Any entry level craft distillery these days is at least 40 bucks. New Riff, Middle West, and High Bank in Ohio, and places like Journeyman, Iron Fish, and others in Michigan all start at the 40 dollar price point and most are 4 year old or maybe less.

I was at bardstown last week and am higher than you guys are on some of their previous editions. Love the triple stave and am a fan of the discovery 3 and 4. That said, I had pretty low expectations for this release.
