So good to hear first a man’s thoughts about this novel whose main characters are both men, a notable first for Rooney. And from such a generous spirited man. Thank you.
Thanks!
I love Sally Rooney, she manages to capture the human experience in such a way that makes it so relatable, like you’ve lived those characters yourself.
Looking forward to reading this one soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here Eric
😊📚
You unpack them all so beautifully! Thanks!
Thanks! 😊
I was eagerly waiting for your review! thanks for this :)
Thanks! 😊
I haven't read this one but I've found Rooney has a lot of more "Trinity College"-esque characters (more upper class or with 'notions'). I am currently reading The Amusements by Aingeala Flannery, have you heard of it? It's loosely connected slice-of-life stories of people from a small Irish seaside town, mostly working class people. I love the Irish style of storytelling, grounded with fleshed out characters.
Am waiting for my copy from my library. I will hold off on your video until I read it.
Hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think once you’ve had a chance to read it.
@@EricKarlAnderson Thank you .... I will. I really appreciated your review of The Bee Sting and I am looking forward to watching this one once I have read the book. All the best from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
@@jennifersantosuosso4479 Thanks- I’m off to watch Eric’s review of The Bee Sting - what an extraordinary book!
@@sv2163 It really was .... That ending!
Greetings from Toronto as well! @@jennifersantosuosso4479
I was very fortunate to get a proof copy of this and took it on holiday with me a few weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the book especially the loving relationship between Peter and Sylvia. For me, certainly her best since Normal People
I’m glad you also enjoyed it. And yes, the tenderness with which she depicted Peter and Sylvia’s relationship was beautiful.
Another very thoughtful review video. I would rank Rooney’s three prior novels the same as you do, so I am heartened by this review and eager to start the novel.
Thank you! Glad we're thinking along the same lines. 😊
Thanks for your review. I don't understand the hype around Sally Rooney so it's good to hear a review that is not about Rooney and her place in the literary world and is about the book itself.
😊
I’ve started listening to Intermezzo so I’ll duck out if you mention spoilers
No worries! I don’t think I give any real spoilers in this. Hope you enjoy the novel!
