    Although Clary and Jace believed Valentine (I mean, seriously you believe a murdering psychopath) they didn't have any sort of reason NOT to believe him. Jace believed Valentine was his father for sixteen years and Clary KNEW Valentine was her father. So how would they know they were not related?

    I don't know if it's just me, but all the "frustrating" things in TMI are what made me love the book even more. I felt like it showed the flaws in the characters and what was left unsaid was for the reader's interpretation. I get how you can't buy the whole Jace and Clary sibling plot line, but it isn't for the reader to purely believe, but rather watch the characters struggle against these limits and force them to react and make tough decisions. Plus, the suspense of it all is mind-blowing.

    I love The Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices! I personally fell in love with The Mortal Instruments series the first time I read it. So I read it again. So yes I have read that series twice. Actually if you read The Mortal Instruments they leave you with a lot of characters that you don't find out what happens to them at the end of the series. But if you read The Infernal Devices you find out what happens to them. Clary's power does have limitations because it takes a lot of her energy to create some runes.

  • @sarat2378

    It wasn't as if Jace drew the rune on her while they were chilling on the couch watching TV or anything. He was trying to protect her from a demon! I know that he could have killed her if she wasn't a shadowhunter, but I don't think it was being reckless out of pure stupidity as you put it. I think he just panicked.
    Either way, I LOVE the TMI series and I wasn't frustrated with the series like you were but I still enjoy your book talks. (:
    Thanks for the video, Kat!

    I honestly love TID better, but TMI should be read first. The suspense decreases if you read TID first. But I agree with Katy - TID is boss

  • @awkwarddvlogging
    @awkwarddvlogging 11 лет назад +3

    Personally my experience with TMI/TID was opposite. I read TMI first(I got them for Christmas and was unaware of TID at the time). I felt more latched up TMI first and read them quicker. When it was time for TID my reading was slower, but after I finished it, and looked back at the two series(less grueling) I love them both pretty much the same-- although I will agree, TID is a lot smoother and and stronger.
    Love the video, though, Kat!

    "The most frustrating series I have ever loved." Sums up my thoughts perfectly. I had such a hard time with Clary and Jace like they just piss me off all the time. But you can't stop reading because the world is so cool. City of Fallen Angels was just bad for me. I could not stand Clary and Jace. >.

  • @msbis
    @msbis 11 лет назад

    I agree. When I first started reading City of Bones, I actually left it for a few months and then forced myself to get back in there and finish the book. I enjoyed reading them, but like you said, had to do extra work to imagine the scenes and the world! I have read up until the 4th one, and the fourth one felt really slow, so I'm actually putting off reading the 5th until the final one is released.
    Thinking I should read the TID series, but tbh, not a huge fan of the writing style.

    i was OK with the TMI series + TID, but the Dark Artifices? I PERSONALLY think she needs to start doing other things because she is so stuck in this world. The Dark Artifices story line doesn't impress me at all! But this is just my opinion, if you don't agree you don't have to hate.

      I sort of agreed at first. I honestly wasn't even going to read TDA...until Tessa and Jem up and decided to move to freaking LA after CoHF to keep an eye on Emma! So now my Jem and Tessa will be in TDA and now I need to read it :( Although I will admit that I was always planning to read TLH. I can't not read a story that has Will and Tessa and Jem (or any combination of the three) in it.

    I listened to City of Bones because my library didn't have a physical copy, and I totally fell in love with it, but then when I went to read City of Ashes I was let down and just sort of gave up on the series. But 2 years ago I went through and read them all and I'm honestly disappointed that I continued after COG because the next three books feel like books that shouldn't have been written and were just tacked on to please the fan base.

    i love this series so much! I love fantasy, and in this world there is more fantasy than in Narnia, I mean, varies, vampires, wolfs, and the best, the shadow hunters. Cassandra literally created a whole culture, she made the weapons, rules, parties, way to talk, legends, she even used words in latin, that woman is awsome! I hope I can get my book signed by her someday. I loved the way you talked, I felt like I was discussing the book with a friend, I felt the same things as you! Clary and jace have some cute moments, but I know that jace live Simon 😏

    I think each series has their own good qualities. I think the mortal instruments has overall a more interesting plot and is more fast paced. ( I haven't read it in like 4 years so I might not be absolutely accurate on that) TID is great because of the characters and the setting as well. I loved the Magnus more in TID then in TMI if that's possible. TID is my choice out of the two but they're both great. I also heard someone say, I think it was cassjaytuck that while Jace and Will can both be do

    I wish this video was made like 2 months ago when I started reading. I ended up reading City of Bones first and then all three of the Infernal Devices books and I am trying to get myself back into City of Ashes. I just read these all out of order. lol

    I cannot understand people who get angry at Cassandra Clare for only writing in her Shadowhunter world. To me it's the exact same thing as an author only writing contemporary novels; all of their novels are set in the same world. Cassandra Clare's books have the benefit of beautiful world building because this is a world that she knows everything about and with each successive book is eager to introduce you further into.

    Great video! I love these books, although I definitely have frustrations too. I started from TMI because TID weren't out when I began reading, so I liked being able to read them in the order that they came out in, which I think would be sort of weird to do now because you'd be hopping back and forth between series. As far as my frustrations, I initially had a hard time getting through the first book because I didn't like the characters! I do now though, and I thought the movie was pretty good.

    I love both series. I love all the series that Cassie writes actually. I'm a big TMI fan over TID because I found TMI first, read them all, that are out, then found TID.

    I love the Mortal Instruments series, but I probably will never finish the Infernal Devices one. I'm not all that interested in it. I read the first one and liked it, but I don't see myself finishing it. Can't wait for book 6 for TMI

    I agree about the Jase and Clary brother sister thing. It caused me to stop reading the series for a few months after I realized that book two didn't show any change with their relationship. I really don't get why Cassandra Clare did that, but I have read the third one now and I still love her books. :)

    This was a great book talk. I have to say, I probably prefer TID more compared to TMI, but I really enjoy getting lost in the world and the hype around it. I enjoyed the movie - but I think you have to go to any movie-based-on-a-book with a certain amount of joy to just be seeing it. Sometimes they can suck, sometimes they are awesome.
    EIther way, I am probably going to re-read TMI soon :D Thanks for the video!

    SERIOUSLY. I was definitely feeling Jace/Simon more than Jace/Clary in "City of Ashes." I almost thought I was going crazy, but thank you for confirming!

    I never believed the sibling thing too. I was like there is no way that can be true but it makes sense to the story.
