I've used the recipe for the Double Chocolate NYC cookies and used a mix of black cocoa and regular, and swapping the chips for white chocolate that turned out amazing!
If this pandemic would just end, I would definitely have to take a trip to the UK to come to the C&D shop, just to get a slice of this cake. I love cookies and cream EVERYTHING! This cake is right up my alley!
Everyone should make a trip to the UK regardless, but the C&D shop is wonderful. We always have a day our in Camden for wonderful street food followed up by a C&D. Can’t wait until we can get back there🤞🏻summer 2022.
Been streaming Oreo Cakes for a chocolate cake request by my primary physician and his office. Went for a routine check-up a few weeks back and the FIRST thing my doctor said was, "I am ready for another cake for my office!" (They know I bake cakes, not so much for a living anymore, but more of a hobby now.) And YES, he is going to pay me! He requested a chocolate cake and IMMEDIATELY when I came across Jemma's cake recipe made by Sally and Dane, I KNEW THIS WAS THE ONE! Thanks to the both of you for a great tutorial.

I made a cake almost exactly like this for my stepson's 18th birthday. It was all recipes from this channel that I used to make it and it was hands-down the best cake I've ever eaten! You totally need to make this! Ever since I first made Jemma's chocolate sponge recipe about 4 yrs ago, I have never made any other chocolate cake. It's AMAZING!
I made this for my mom's birthday 3 days ago, and I had fun making this! I switched the buttercream with swiss buttercream since the regular just too sweet and gritty for my liking, and it turned out quite well! Also, I didn't have lemon so I used lime juice and white vinegar to make the buttermilk. It didn't turn that thick, the texture is still thin almost like regular milk, but the cake turned out great still. We are very blessed with your contents, now I want to try making biscoff cake next!
Hi, how's it going? I have a question about this cake. When you made it was it incredibly moist, like those cakes in the bakeries that never dry out or did you have go use simple syrup?
@@lucyheartfilia2015 Hello Lucy! I'm doing good :D When it's at room temperature, it's moist enough to not use simple syrup. Sometimes I even break the cake when handling it bcs it's that soft! When I try to eat it straight from the chiller tho, the buttercream and the cake hardens. It'll become moist again when you let it out at room temp for 10 min or so. In short, I don't think simple syrup is necessary. Do keep in mind, that this cake is not the fluffy sponge cake type (it's more dense) Hope this helps :)

Mine were still quite wet in the middle after 25 minutes and took about 35 total to get fully cooked in the middle. Hope this helps someone else who’s planning to make these!

guys this cake sponge was AMAAZZZIINNNGGGGGGGGGG. i used semisweet for the ganache and it was delicious, but the buttercream straight up was sickingly sweet and buttery. it was nottttt a hit. i had to add cream cheese and mascarpone and a bit of lemon in order to make it good but the spong was insane!

People in Asia [& perhaps UK] might feel a stronger connection to bourbons rather than Oreos. That would make a superb cake, wouldn't it?

@@lucyheartfilia2015 hi Lucy, This is a very moist cake that doesn't dry out in the fridge, this is my "go to" recipe and all my family order it all the time. Stays moist for days.
I feel like coffee in chocolate cake, and pasta water in pasta sauces are the magic ingredients to make the best food!
