Definitely very similar. Red dunhill was my go to in college 20 something years ago then when I found out that bond no9 had a similar version of it I had to get it.
I finally smelled Lafayette st at. Saks 5th Ave store and I immediately recognized it as my old scent, Desire. Thought it was just me. Thanks for confirming
