The effect part is meant to be "Kirby Crackle", a sort of cosmic effect popularized by Jack Kirby. He'd use these bubble-looking things for a lot of stuff like outer space, Silver Surfer's power cosmic, magic effects, etc.
Didn't realize it but painted looks so much better than marbled plastic. Makes me think how much better previous armored figures might've looked if they were just painted.
I like painted silver over molded silver, but I think molded gold looks actually good (or is more acceptable than molded silver), of course painted gold is better than molded but I'm actually okay with it
In defense of the narrower chest, I think he is supposed to be a fairly early appearance Ultron V circa Avengers 45-47 and up to a little past 100. While it varies with the artist, he isn't particularly broad chested until later incarnations. I think the picture on the back of the box is actually the thing that is off. It's a reprint/reuse of some art that I think was originally Ultron's picture from the old Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. But it has been compressed vertically making it seem broader than it should. The actual original art lines up more with the figure delivered.
I just got this guy today. And I'm so glad I'm hearing Anthony actually liking the figure woo! Great review as well, you taught me new things about the figure I wouldn't have known about
For a character like Ultron, painted is the only way to go. Looks so clean, one of the best Marvel Legends of 2021 IMO. As far as other characters are concerned, I can excuse, say, Thanos' gold parts having the swirly effect because you could say it's cosmic, otherworldly metals.
I think painting black in the lines of the sculpt, as Diamond did on their Marvel Select and even Hasbro did on their 4-inch Ultron figure in 2011 would've helped, but it's still nice
Nice it's the Ursa Major BAF Ultron. Looks really good, painted is better than marbled plastic. Some shading would be nice, but hey I'm glad we got him
the silver on this guy is great. shows you what paint can do. come on hasbro, do THIS more often. easily one of my favorite figures from hasbro in a long long time
No disrespect intended, I think you're probably the most professional legends reviewer that I follow, but I disagree with you about the bicep design, simply because he's a robot, he doesn't need to have a perfectly human shape to him. Also I wouldn't want Hasbro to try to shade this one. It's paint is naturally reflective and gives off it's own shading effect, imo. Everything else you said made me appreciate the figure more, tbh. ✌
Metallic swirl looks good in blue or gold. This silver looks way better. Excellent figure in so many ways and it is stange how some are so toyishly cheap looking with no accessories for the same price.

Yeah

2:56 “Can we get some big chests please?”
That’s what she said!
Nieshé😭

I've had this figure for over 6 months and never knew about the calf cut. The bottom of the feet has thrusters molded to the bottom too.
Wish they'd do Ultron from the Annihilation Conquest story. Or a bunch of others from that storyline.
Oddly enough, your light set up gives him pseudo-shading.
Thanks for the review.
yeah it casts shade on certain parts... so just real shading...

I agree the paint looks much better. Excellent review Anthony❣️👏💯

I 100% agree with your critics.
Thanks for the review Anthony.
The blue shading you mentioned could be done like the toy biz silver surfer 🔥 nice review
Now let's see those shoulder pads reused for Wolverine, lol. Thanks for the review!
Funny enough the villains wave was one of the best from last year
Let’s go! I bought three of these and have them displayed on my shelf I’ve been thinking about getting more.

I think some really thinned down Tamiya transparent blue would do wonders for the shading on this figure.

Did you get the retro Vision? It comes with a Ultron head you could try on this body and see if you like it.
Wish he had the lines painted in black like the comics
Well, the one upside to marble plastic is that there won't be any paint rub or chipping. I would be ok with.
Great review Anthony. Funny how hasbro has better proportions for a robot than humans.

Just ordered this guy!
I have been waiting for this review! Can’t decided which figure in the wave is better: Ultron or Modular Iron Man
i think i saw it somewhere that the effect can be hold by right hand.
Looks cool 😎 I'd add him to my collection once I find him
The paint plastic looks way better
💯 better painted.
Definitely 100% !
This goes hard
