That's not entirely true. George has been writing short stories since he was a child himself. So other stories that might be considered children's stories are: Meet the Executioner, Powerman vs The Blue Barrier!, The Strange Saga of the White Raider, The Isle of Death, Only Kids are Afraid of the Dark, The Coach and the Computer, The Sword and the Spider and The Exit to San Breta.
I can never give up on George. His Song of Ice and Fire series has always been ranked number 1 among other fantasy books. I didn't know until now that there were more books he wrote, and I am happy to explore them.
Dude, when it comes down to it. I just want to read it. I feel like i've been waiting forever. I'M sure you're just as impatient. I love this series and can't wait to see what happens with Arya, Jon, Tyrion & daenerys
I'm pretty obssessed with the Ice and Fire series at the moment. I keep telling myself that as soon as I finish whatver one I'm on I'll read something else before I start the next one, but I can't.
If he dies before he finishes A Song of Ice and Fire, I might just cry! Not only would I lose my favorite author, but I'll never get to finish the greatest novel series I've found. HURRY UP GEORGE...DAMN DUDE! WTF?!
@exit284 There's simply more to his life than writing this book series. He's a human being. No one ever goes, 'You know what? It's an amazing series. If you're too ill and aren't having the quality of life to be able to finish it, then fine. Pass notes on to an author you trust and enjoy the rest of your life.' Because it might possibly be detremental to them and their pass time.
damm really?? wow i wasn't aware of that, i just recently started reading his books, and finished all the current ones. Man this guy needs to step his game up, im pretty sure 4 years is plenty of time to write a good book.
After seeing GRRM, there's no way he's gonna live another 10 years to finish his 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. Especially, if he's writing other books and working on an HBO series. I don't think the series will ever get finished.
As far as I know there is no Ice Dragon in AD&D. It is called a White Dragon. It is made of white scales. He is saying his dragon is made of ice. I could be wrong since I haven't played D&D in a long time and it's possible some of the newer editions include an "Ice Dragon".
Respect you sir, but Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, long ago created variants of dragons for the Monster Manual text. Ice dragons are one of the dragons from that manual.
@Chrispat8 That's your argument? Because GRRM is, "suce a wonderful writer and has so many inventive ideas," he has more talent than Orson Scott Card? They are completely different genres! Card does Sci-Fi (some, like Wyrm, have fantasy elements), GRRM does fantasy. Their styles are radically different.
yea i know man, his book was suppose to come somtime sept or oct, its november, and ive read that its suppose to come sometime next year, it sux! Hes a good author and all, but he takes WAY too long.
@thefiestymexican I see what you're saying, but no child, indeed no parent would want a book about anything that they don't know about. People stick to what they know, so as a dragon being a cliche, that's what will sell.
Coulda sworn Yugio had ice dragon before this guy came up with it, and even magic the gathering. Maybe not as much as in detail, but this guy gives himself too much credit. His contribution to the fantasy world. Geezus, when I was a kid I use to day dream about dragon, and each colour represented what kind the dragon was, and guess what, white dragon ice dragon for me. >.>
He had written it back in 1980, before Magic the gathering and yugio. This video is about a re-published illustrated edition, and the tv presenter seems clueless, hence she addresses it as his new work))
@PurpleBadger oh I love devoted fans they will take anything they are given, never demanding! ur comment gets a thumbs up since you took the time to be offended by my opinon hahaha your awesome :)
I adore George Martin and his stories, but he did not create the ice dragon. The farthest back I can remember an ice dragon was Dungeons and Dragons in the 1970's.
Can I just say that I've only watched the game of thrones TV show and it had no reference to Ice dragons (maybe it did but I cant remember) and I've had day dreams of ice dragons way before I knew this. Maybe he was the first to publish something with ice dragons but I'm pretty sure people have thought of it before.
Now that's a better way to put it, much better then "hurry the fuck up and write more before you die mafacka!" I'm getting a bit annoyed at all the mentions of his age, but this was fine :) Not that I have any right to judge, its just an annoyance of mine.
It's rad that he thinks that he's the first person to ever 'create' an ice dragon. I think he needs to play D&D for around 14 seconds and realize what's up.
damn your the laziest author ever! hurry up already. Stephen King thought he was about to kick the bucket and finally decided to finish the Dark Tower Series. and George is alot older than Stephen King and he needs to finish the Ice and Fire series soon.
I read that story when I was a kid in a collection of dragon stories. It was actually the story that made me love fantasy so much.
this dude's one of the best sci/fi authors out there, a genius, can't wait till "a dance with dragons" comes out.
Woah, I stumbled upon a pre ADWD comment in the wild.
I get the feeling that this may be the only children's book he ever writes
That's not entirely true. George has been writing short stories since he was a child himself. So other stories that might be considered children's stories are: Meet the Executioner, Powerman vs The Blue Barrier!, The Strange Saga of the White Raider, The Isle of Death, Only Kids are Afraid of the Dark, The Coach and the Computer, The Sword and the Spider and The Exit to San Breta.
Seriously, one of the best writers ever, not just modern writers.
I can never give up on George. His Song of Ice and Fire series has always been ranked number 1 among other fantasy books. I didn't know until now that there were more books he wrote, and I am happy to explore them.

For the white walkers, this would be so much better than just a regular fire dragon turned into a wight
Have to correct you here: The pilot is officially ordered and they're in pre-production right now planning to shoot in the UK sometime next year.
George R. R. Martin is the one who created sagas that can almost compete with J. R. R. Tolkien's.
If he dies before he finishes A Song of Ice and Fire, I might just cry!
Not only would I lose my favorite author, but I'll never get to finish the greatest novel series I've found.
HURRY UP GEORGE...DAMN DUDE!
WTF?!
12 years later ...
Do you still care?
@@ЭйденПирс-н8ф, Not so much. No. I've moved on..as I'm sure many people have. 🤷♂️
Mr. Martin please don't die.
so is the ice dragon the white walkers' answer to denaerys' dragons??
This comment is a prophecy.
He will. And trust me, it´ll be awesome.
@exit284 There's simply more to his life than writing this book series. He's a human being. No one ever goes, 'You know what? It's an amazing series. Bran stark will fly a Ice Dragon
It might be Jon, instead of bran.....
damm really?? wow i wasn't aware of that, i just recently started reading his books, and finished all the current ones. Man this guy needs to step his game up, im pretty sure 4 years is plenty of time to write a good book.
It's not a kids book he uses alot of adult language
But it is one of the best books ever
Hmmm... The original novel isn't exactly a childrens story, but I guess he made it a bit nicer for children.
After seeing GRRM, there's no way he's gonna live another 10 years to finish his 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series. Especially, if he's writing other books and working on an HBO series. I don't think the series will ever get finished.
lol
LMAO

@FundamentalPhysicist ya, i agree,
wyrms, ice-drakes/dragons,
but dragons arent serpents, they got legs
Respect you sir, but Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, long ago created variants of dragons for the Monster Manual text. Ice dragons are one of the dragons from that manual.

not the first one,
ice dragons were in the game Heroes of Might and Magic
though im sure the story is original
@Terransupremist Robert Jordan was told he was going to die. To my knowledge George R.R. Martin doesn't have Amyloidosis.
I hear that...im afraid that he might pass away before he finishs A song of Ice and FIre, which would be crushing
Jon Snow will find the Ice Dragon
Ice dragon is also a symbolism for, Jon Snow, if R+L=J is true....
He did find the ice dragon but was pinned down by its ice breath.
yea i know man, his book was suppose to come somtime sept or oct, its november, and ive read that its suppose to come sometime next year, it sux! Hes a good author and all, but he takes WAY too long.
first ice dragon was from ghotic
The Mountain That Blogs About Football wrote a children's book?!
The man.
Oh the seven hells, with such things, i will never see an end to a song of ice and fire before i die, WTF!
i know it's a childrens book but i wunna read it :D one thing though... i just hope that Martin won't go into the grave anytime soon -.-
@thefiestymexican I see what you're saying, but no child, indeed no parent would want a book about anything that they don't know about. People stick to what they know, so as a dragon being a cliche, that's what will sell.
@Brahms777 is he sick?
Now, if George would get a better work ethic, we could have the book we've all been waiting for.
I like his comment that he invented the Ice Dragon, oh sorry George but D&D already had an Ice Dragon in it before you came along and wrote about one!
It looks so cute, but I can't help but wonder how much time it took away from A Song. -_-
iloveSE7EN it was published in 1980 so it didn't take any time from ASOIAF
Why Dragon melted and turned to a lake ?
They're made entirely out of ice. Even the ice dragon in the book slowly melts until it turns to that lake. Its kinda sad 😞
Coulda sworn Yugio had ice dragon before this guy came up with it, and even magic the gathering. Maybe not as much as in detail, but this guy gives himself too much credit. Ha! your wrong its not out yet. my point stands.
@PurpleBadger oh I love devoted fans they will take anything they are given, never demanding! ur comment gets a thumbs up since you took the time to be offended by my opinon hahaha your awesome :)
Martin is not yet ready with "Dance with Dragons". But maybe he is already writing book six? You never know...
Nope, it's not out.
@AntiTroll101 The Odyssey isn't a novel. Homer and Martin don't even compare.
@Aumakua76 Hahaha! Right on.
His work is briljant though :)
This one is so good. Why can't they make a movie about this? Why keep spinning off Game of thrones? o something new!
he created ice dragons? woah
I adore George Martin and his stories, but he did not create the ice dragon. The farthest back I can remember an ice dragon was Dungeons and Dragons in the 1970's.
Actually are you sure that those Ice Dragons were made entirely of ice? I think that's what he was talking about with his being origional.
He is the best i ever read xD
But he takes awfully too long!
But other ppl say good things take time.
lol i agree.finish first the series a song of ice and fire and then write whatever u want plz xD
She was pretty hot, George. Did you get the digits?
@Helios8888 wow harsh
Can I just say that I've only watched the game of thrones TV show and it had no reference to Ice dragons (maybe it did but I cant remember) and I've had day dreams of ice dragons way before I knew this. Maybe he was the first to publish something with ice dragons but I'm pretty sure people have thought of it before.
no fucking shit
The books have reference to ice dragons and also... no shit.
The ice wyvern
@jmlbloom No, he's just aging and he puts out books at a turtle-esque pace.
@Brahms777 I've been saying the same thing for years. I will fucking Ouija-talk with him from beyond the grave and help him finish it if I have to.
they already know, no need to offer that fact, oh no... XDD
Now that's a better way to put it, much better then "hurry the fuck up and write more before you die mafacka!"
I'm getting a bit annoyed at all the mentions of his age, but this was fine :)
Not that I have any right to judge, its just an annoyance of mine.
hahahaha nobody found ridiculous how she presented the book at the end? It looks like a lose weight commercial
MY OPINION RAAAAAAAAGH
@BluelightMercury ... he's fat, because he probably doesn't live a healthy lifestyle... not because he's a writer...
Hehe, even in a children's book, GRRM still has horribly mutilated, dead and war broken people.
I'll kill him if he dies b4 completing the series xD
I hated the ending I'm sorry
It's rad that he thinks that he's the first person to ever 'create' an ice dragon. I think he needs to play D&D for around 14 seconds and realize what's up.
Hes already 62? Thats not good man. Whats this "Ice Dragon" that hes concerning himself with?
SONG OF ICE AND FIRE OR GTFO!!!! >:(
If was'nt so busy writting crappy books like this, he might be able finish writting a dance with dragons
OMG!!! He needs to lose weight!
damn your the laziest author ever! hurry up already. Stephen King thought he was about to kick the bucket and finally decided to finish the Dark Tower Series. and George is alot older than Stephen King and he needs to finish the Ice and Fire series soon.
