    I was raised on a sail boat from the time I was 7 until I was 12 here in the Pacific Northwest. I always said when I turned 30 I was going to sail around the world. I am well past that mark and while life happens these dreams just sometimes don't. Thank you for posting these videos and sharing your journey with all of us.
    "The sail, the play of its pulse so like our own lives: so thin and yet so full of life, so noiseless when it labors hardest, so noisy and impatient when least effective" Thoreau
    Godspeed!

      Carl Thompson Wonderful quote!! =) I will share one: "From this hour I ordain myself loos’d of limits and imaginary lines, going where I list, my own master, total and absolute, listening to others, and considering well what they say, pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating, gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the holds that would hold me." -Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

      +Carl Thompson Wow strange.. me too from 5 to 12 but sailed out of SF south to Mexico, through canal and all of the Caribbean.. ended way to soon in Fl. Now in DC studying law so I can get my properties back from these thieves ... turns out we have all been getting robbed so it has turned into a 6 year ordeal to discover ways to hold them accountable... Finally winning cases, Now time for my claims... Drop me a line let me know how it goes when your ready to set sail again... Got boats.. in my back yard of one of my properties which was fraudclosed upon over five years ago.... just no time to sail due to the constant necessity to study and write docs... but now it is coming to a close... 42 USC 1983 .... to sue the criminal corporate courts (look the court up on dunn and Bradstreet) oh and I was up to date on all my payments on three properties but they needed the "statistical number" of "defaults" to collect insurance on the PSA or REMIC trust insurance policy's.. up to 24 policies on the entire amount of alleged Notes in the trust.. guess what .. No Notes in the trust.. it was all a scam like derivatives.... Ok sorry .. back to the video... ahhh...... Just in case you're interested I do a talkshoe.com show on sat at 9pm now and old shows are available.. at program 126101# if you want to call in.. and get my private communications... All the best!! Better to have someone living the life than no one living the life ... eh?

    I enjoy watching your video's. I use to go to Catalina Island on my Dad's boat when I was a kid. I get to live out my enjoyment watching your videos. Those lost memories in my mind of my island being on a boat feeling with my dad and brother. Smelling that fresh air and amazed by all the beauty around. Throwing my fishing pool in the water and catching a fish. So cool! I would say Riley, you are living the ultimate dream. You get to sail the world with a beautiful woman that doesn't seem to complain.

    What a wonderful life. You're both young, healthy and seem to share the same love for what you're doing. I've boated and lived aboard for about 20 years and have always had a dream of doing this for years. Health problems slowed me down when I was younger and now age is a factor. You're doing what so many of us fail to do and that's living out your dreams. I wish you all the best and thank you so much for your beautiful video's.

    Boys... Just try to stay away from the Venezuelan coast. Piracy is an all time high. Avoid getting close to any urban centers. Avoid Paria, Margarita Island, Mochima National park, etc. You may touch Blanquilla, Tortuga, Los Roques, Las aves (In East to West order) and continue your way to the ABC islands.
    Source: Venezuelan-born sailor. Sailed all over the region for 25 years...

      ***** it is sad. We ended up selling our Beneteau First 35 as we couldn't enjoy the coast anymore. Anyway, I'll be happy to give you some tips on what to do. La Tortuga, Los Roques and Las Aves are some of the most beautiful places in the region. Try to get in touch with the cruising community through the Caribbean Compass newspaper to learn more about what other sailors are doing around you.

    I've noticed that you guys rarely use life jackets on the open water. I don't like wearing them either. What would be the protocol if one of you fell overboard? (Riley at the 10:30 mark made me think of this question) Would you stay on the boat and try to steer it over to them, or jump in after the other person? Genuinely curious to know what the protocol is for a two person crew man overboard situation for if I am ever in a similar situation. You guys are awesome. Keep sailing!

    • @ombeni
      @ombeni 9 лет назад +13

      KarsonsChannel The last person on boat should never jump after someone while the boat moves. That´s ceartain death for both but maybe a understandable reaction. In general is falling overboard in bad weather conditions or at night very bad, not to say almost certain death. But in cases like that there is the man over board maneuver where you go downwind from the person in the water and then steer directly into the wind so the boat stops where the person is. Another way is of course to pull down the sails, start the motor and do a similliar manuever. If you´re alone, this leads to the biggest problem which is not loosing sight of the person in the water.

    • @stephenstringer3689
      @stephenstringer3689 9 лет назад +9

      0mb3n1 I enjoy their channel and they are a great couple and fun to watch but they take a lot of dangerous risks. Too often going on deck without a lifeline is just an accident waiting to happen with a crew of 2. Also when she went to a beach alone with the dingy...if anything happened he couldn't get off the boat and she was alone on the beach...what if she wasn't alone? You hear so many reports of crime in the islands now that it's just not as much fun sailing anymore. Not really safe to be alone anywhere in the islands especially for a woman. Sad but true!

    • @stephenstringer3689
      @stephenstringer3689 9 лет назад

      ***** No offense meant, just concern. Younger people take more chances...just a fact. Obviously, you have a lot of faith that you both are capable of handling a MOB. Have fun!

    • @davewave8144
      @davewave8144 9 лет назад

      KarsonsChannel Relax - Even the racing boats on 30+ mph wind and 20'+ seas slip and slide all over the place without a harness - and thats in water cold enough to kill you inside of 20 minutes. So this very competent captain of his boat cruising in a nice breeze in warm water without a harness will be fine. Besides it will F up the tan lines.

    • @fiddleswithbikes
      @fiddleswithbikes 9 лет назад +3

      KarsonsChannel When he went fwd without lifeline I hit pause and jumped down to comments. Certainly would be verboten on my boat. Even if she is super competent with that boat (and I'll assume she is) it would be damned hard to get it back close enough to even locate him at that speed and sea state, let alone close enough to retrieve him.

Take that dough you made workin' in the mines, buy a boat and go sailing round the world w/the most beautiful gal on earth (next to me wife, of course) Oh wait you've already done that. Wow, you guys are lucky with this patron thing. I once hitchhiked from Malaysia to the Netherlands, I arrived in Malaysia with about a hundred euros. Pretty much slept rough the whole way! Wish I'd have had a camera and patrons behind me, maybe then I could have been able to do some of the touristy things whilst passing through! But maybe I wouldn't have been as interesting to watch though : )

    How are you enjoying the Beneteau as a cruising boat? Any issues with it?

    Relax people. Aluminum won't kill you or there would be no aluminum cookware or drinking bottles and Reynolds of Reynolds Wrap would have been sued out of existence already. And they don't worry about PFDs, tethers or others things because they live life and enjoy it....which is why they are out cruising and the rest of us are still tied to the dock.
    But I do agree with the Music Fans - Elayna is pretty awesome and we need more of her music videos.

    Can i give a tip? To cook the fish double up with baking paper or better yet using plant leaves. It comes out delicious. You can experience with presoaking either. Its so much better for the environment and so many study's worldwide also suggest that heavy metals are released into the food while heating up aluminum foils. Of course those studies are debunked by those industries. My favorite is using banana leaves that i keep in the freezer until use. Let me know if you tried this. Hope this helps.

    Just curious...at the 6:08 mark, is that a RadioShack logo I see on the white plastic bag on the table? They filed for bankruptcy a little while back but I don't know what happened with their foreign operations.

      They're still around even in the US. They just closed/sold a LOT of their stores.
