If the music box was Incorporated with the locking mechanism I think that would have been a good idea it would have took a lot of time to unlock it now that would have got you thinking how to open it lol

Possibly need to pick it during a certain segment of the tune. The mechanism would only allow the lock to move if keyed or picked at a certain time. Figuring out when would be the Key.
It didn't unlock because you didn't turn it all the way. You stopped with the key upside down. You need to turn it >360°. When you unblock your front door, do you stop half way around and try to pull the door open?
Really looked like the lock wasn't even keeping it closed, and you could've just rotated the entire lock body to pull the string at any time, was that not the case? It seemed like once you rotated the lock body far enough to the right it pulled on the string to open it.
Any EOD specialist would be alarmed by that box. If you are not alarmed then you have never seen the C4 ordinance destruction power. It would have turned Bill into dust immediately. Great job Bill!
It just a spring loaded device to spin the lock one way or the other. It spins very quickly so that the pins don't have a chance to drop back into place. As you just saw in the video it's for those occasions where if you've picked the lock in the wrong direction, you can flip it back without having to pick the lock again.
A spinner is used to flip a lock core the other direction. Say you pick a lock and it turns the core, but that direction won't open the lock. Place the spinner in, spin it, and the core rotates so fast it can move to the other side of the pin stack without allowing the pins to drop out. Essentially letting you switch the direction you picked it from without having to pick it again. TLDL: It turns the lock core without letting the pins drop.

Counterclockwise is the way you unlock your front door deadbolt... if it's a left-hand door. If it's a right swing door it'll be clockwise.
