- Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a carnival club?
This video shows some of the things we do throughout the year to maintain ourselves as a carnival club.
We are a group of people all with different skill set that come together to build this amazing beast. There is a job for everyone in carnival!!!

It makes me proud to be British. I feel I/we have lost out culture and this reminds me of the carnivals I went to as a young person (50yrs ago) the sea scouts decorated our canoes for the river carnival including the night one with candles and jam jars. Mixed feelings watching this happy watching but sadness as loss of this throughout the country. Donating your funds is the morals this country needs. My old man was a scania engineer
I’m part of Kenilworth Lions and we put on several events for the town, and as you know there is a HUGE amount going on in the background to make it happen. Great fun though and some good times.

A friend of mine (born in Bridgwater) goes to this carnival every year. She loves it and shows me the photos and videos when she comes back
Hope it stayed dry for the carnival , but there's probably gonna be some karma for getting your sister wet removing the radiator at some stage 😀

Coming down for Wells and Glastonbury carnivals. They are spectacular events, and I'd encourage everyone to attend at least once.
In Sussex we have carnivals with flaming torches, and basic floats. I know how much work a basic float is, so realise an incredible amount of work must go in to your carts.
Jim. It’s nice to see you and your sister and your dad. All working together. Me and my daughter do things together. Has. 3. Ford. Cargoes. 1. One is near complete for the road. Two of them for spare parts. We have trouble finding parts. So Josie bought two spares. She takes after a dad. Cannot have enough for spares. Joe. Lorry. As a new radiator six new tires radiator was £600 tires were £1500 Just needs brakes, stripping and checking properly lining not worth going to pieces and putting back together with old ones on should be ready for MOT then now she is working on the farm full-time tractor driving she has gone off the Laurie a little bit because she loves the tractor driving such a lot for it will get done eventually she drives. 255. Horsepower. John Deere. I keep teasing her. Should have a Ford She has her own Ford tractor you see at home hope your friend is getting better from. K. G. Morgan.

The challenge for you Jemma is to educate people outside of our lovely county of Somerset of what our wonderful carnivals are all about and make ones like the Notting Hill carnival in London so small!

what a wonderful video , showing all the hard work the carnival team put into getting the float ready. It is very kind of you to donate your money from your U tube channel to the carnival fund. What a surprise to see your sister working with your dad, didn't know she was a lorry mechanic. You should do a video on how you started doing the trucking work and how your Dad helped you, that would be very interesting . Hope you managed to keep clear of the storm.

Aww love this! I’m from the North East and have no idea about carnival so it’s great to get an insight! I have been a member/leader of a community youth theatre group since I was a kid though and this very much reminds me of set building and last minute rehearsals leading up to show week!

What a lovely video especially the help the young members of the club get which has shown them a way to future enjoyable careers. This video shows true community spirit. I dont doubt agms etc get lively. Thank you again for a brilliant video in such a sad world around us. Happy days. 🇬🇧🏴

I cannot read and write very well did not go to school. Good mechanic in work tractor driving in lorry driving but I seem to put make a comment on anybody else but I am talking into the mic by the time. I have finished talking to you a what you never know, I might be able to read and write a bit as you Are, you might’ve noticed it doesn’t always make sense after I have said it, I can’t always read. Back. But that doesn’t matter I would be capable of putting clutch in cargo and putting radiator on so will need to read and write. Your cargo as a Cummins. Engine Jo‘s cargo. As for Jo Nanjing. It is smaller Jo is cargo with a 10 Tuner. Ken. Morgan.
Looking forward to coming down and helping out the Shepton mallet, Carnival club this year. I've been security and stewarding at Glastonbury Festival for the last 7 events and I love the people somerset So nice and warming even as a Caribbean person, everyone's door is always open. Good food too😊 looking forward to this. Ps Shepton for the win.

Hi. What about something me Drone footage of the journey abound the village. Tom Pemberton does this on his farm time to time with a guy that does it for him and it shows a new dynamic of the difficulties. I think it’s great some many people involved to produce such a good show. 👍great stuff !

Holy moly that's a impressive carnival. Is it a Somerset carnival that travels to a few different town's? I'd like to get to see it.
Hi jemma, can I suggest for safety reasons can you make a wall between the radiator and drivers seat . If the radiator let's go or blows a hose it will seriously burn the driver , I have seen it happen on a modified car and scald the driver

Great vlog Jemma. I have fond memories of the Bridgwater carnival as my grandparents used to live in Bridgwater and every year we used to go to the fair and carnival. We used to stand by the Malt shovel pub. It was something you had to see to believe. I’m now 68 and can remember it as it was yesterday. 👍

Hello Jemma , the fact you donate your RUclips earnings to the carnival club speaks volumes about your moral fibre and the decent person you are. And i didnt realize that you go to different town carnivals absolutely brilliant.
Hopefully the weather settles in the evenings over the next 2 weeks hoping to see the cart in weston with 2 young kids

what happens to the old cart models? Do they go to museums or dismantled to reuse the chassis?

Hi Jemma great video.Is the Ford Cargo you use as a carnival float still registered as a lorry and does it still need mot and tax, and do you need hgv to drive it?.A few video's ago you were reading a truck book,I used to read truck books but now I don't have to because I can watch your wonderful video's.🏆⭐🤸💎♥️👍
Hi the carnival lorry doesn't need a mot but dose need tax. Every year, every cart needs three independent inspections and reports for safety. You do need an hgv licence to drive them. Again, for safety . Enjoy and take care.

Hi, jemma's dad was driving in Bridgwater, and jemma drove the Burnham carnival. Jemma's will be driving again at Wells carnival. There are two other drivers taking their turns this year. Take care.

Out of interest, what sort of weight would the whole combination be? Saw a video of your one at this years Bridgwater Carnival, it looks brilliant and spectacular, probably even more so up close.
There is a rule that each cart is not to exceed 50 tons. If my memory serves , e right vagabonds are about 38 tons. This year. Take care

Hi Jemma, it would be lovely if you were able to place your camera on the cart while performing today. Even run a livestream of the event.
Looks like this is a fun annual event with a massive turnout. The team that works on the truck is pretty dedicated and enthusistic, which is always a good thing. Obviously they like this job and the friends' company too. It's awesome some guys are working on the machines for decades now. I'm sure the carnival will be a huge success and everybody will enjoy the performances and the parade. Good luck to your team Jemma, hopefully you'll win the competition.
