    Hope you enjoy this one folks. It will probably be the last video I post until I return from my Labrador Peninsula expedition in the fall. Then there'll be lots of viewing goodies. If you are not sure what I am talking about and haven't check out that trailer. You can right here: ruclips.net/video/veQnQvsmmo4/видео.html
    You can also follow me and Saku daily on that journey. I will be posting our GPS coordinates on my Facebook and Twitter pages every evening. Love to have you along tracking our progress.
    I really appreciate all your support. You've made my first year of RUclips so fun and rewarding. Seeing the success and growth of my channel just from sharing my passion and love of the outdoors, along with some advice, feels really good. Couldn't have done it without you guys. I wish you all the best over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Justin

    It's so good to watch an everyman not selling camping gear or $5000 usd of gear to do the so called "bushcraft", a term reserved for Australian outback. Your a fine woodsman and a joy to watch! The dogs are great too!

    People need to learn to appreciate the very simple things in life...…...all winter long I spend as much time up in the woods as I can. Just head up with the chainsaw, spend a bit of time cutting, relax by the fire, and enjoy a nice mug of coffee. Just need the time to just get out and relax after working in an office environment day in and day out for 27 years. Most of my colleagues think I am a bit of a nut as they don't know what it all about as they have never experienced it themselves, but I look at it as my solstice. Plus, a bit of wholesome productive exercise with working hard in the woods and getting a bit of wood to enjoy in the woodstove at home.
    Got to just get out and do it......

    Hey Justin, thanks for your point of view. We “viewers” don’t have the perspective that you do. I consider, now and again that you guys, like Robinet and stuff are ALONE and most of us don’t think of that. You said “Talkin’ to this camera”... and it reminded me of this. i know i'm showing my age but have you ever tried layering tree boughs on the snow under the tent floor to insulate it somewhat? When I was a young fella we didn't have access to a lot of "modern day" camp equipment. Not many folks afforded tents with sewn in floors; we harnessed "nature" a lot more. What we called comfortable many today would call extreme primitive camping but its all we knew.

    • @JustinBarbournlexplorer
      @JustinBarbournlexplorer  5 лет назад

      All the time Robert. Didn't do it here but I have plenty of times before. Love sleeping on boughs alone under a tarp in front of an open fire in the fall of the year. Probably my favourite way to camp. Appreciate you watching and dropping a line!

      You got that right Caper. There are endless things to see, hear, smell, touch, taste and do! And yes Job Barbour is a distant relative of mine. Was caught adrift for 68 days in the Atlantic from NL to Scotland. Great book I highly recommend it.

    sounds like the city folks are the ones who ask about what you do out there when you go on an adventure. there is a ton of things to do in nature. city folks need to leave the city and get into nature and unwind and appreciate our wonderful planet. i love to go out in nature. getting out of the city is paradise. we take our dogs when my wife and i go on adventures. and it never fails....time goes by entirely too quick when we are in nature. when i am out and about, i always try to think of something i can do to stay out there and not come back. when i do retire, i will definitely be off grid deep in nature. a lot of people are in prison in cities. they work and do everything there and rarely leave the city. i could never be in their shoes. i was definitely born in the wrong century. i would have loved to have been born well before he BIG technology boom. technology is okay, but since the world has spiked in technology, any new inventions arent as impressive as some of the inventions discovered 200-300 years ago. like take for example the invention of the computer and the invention of the engine.......one is ridiculous in the amount of technology....the other is not near as in depth in technology.....it is just an engine.......but think about how much the engine changed things.....a lot of manual labor was gone with the engine and the time savings with an engine. any how.....take care....and another great video.....

    One question, What's your opinion on the boots for Saku?
    Ive got a pitbull that i would like to take out hiking and such in the NL winters, but they aren't really built for winters, especially NL winters. lol

    • @JustinBarbournlexplorer
      @JustinBarbournlexplorer  6 лет назад

      Thanks Chris. I think the boots are well worth it. Saku's are a bit small for him but will work. Make sure you get the measurement as accurate as possible if you decide to pick any up. But overall I think it would be great for comforting your pup on some winter excursions. Takes them some time to get used to them but that's way she goes.

    Why does the Husky have to be kept tied up all the time?

    • @JustinBarbournlexplorer
      @JustinBarbournlexplorer  6 лет назад +1

      Because she's just recovering from a major knee surgery and is not supposed to be running in deep snow. Typically I have her free roaming unless it's the night then I tie her. Lot's of Moose Caribou Coyotes and Bears (later in Spring) around and she likes to roam far. She'll always come back but only when she wants and at night time that could be dangerous for her.

      Cool. I guess that I never thought of Huskies as run off and be so independent. Never owned one, and the image sticks of the sled team and staying together. But dogs do have their own personalities.

    Be careful with the dog boots in warm weather. The dog can over heat. There is zero difference between a husky foot and other dogs feet. A dog pad is a dog pad.

    • @JustinBarbournlexplorer
      @JustinBarbournlexplorer  6 лет назад +1

      Yes for sure they are only meant for colder weather or if a paw gets tender. And a husky has to have a little more protection with the extra fur around the feet and thicker tougher pads. It's bred down through generations. That husky has roots in Labrador. But I don't truly know the science behind it

    • @mushercdn
      @mushercdn 6 лет назад

      It depends on the lineage of husky. Alaskans (racing huskies) have a lot of hunting dog in them. They are also made to do a lot of milage. Distance ones can do a 100 MILES a day for 10, days straight or so. They get booted up due to the abrasion of so many miles. Your traditional old time husky, which you seem to have could not do that. I do not put booties on my dogs very often but most of my runs are less than 35 km or less and they do that 4 times a week. Abrasive ice is a different story. It is better to stay home until more snow falls. Just remember that a dog cools itself, also, through its feet. I had a booted chessie overheat once. It was hairy. But boot removal and a snow belly rub got him out of the bush.
