- Mimic Logic Part 3 - welcome to confuse mode, the hardest difficulty in the game, which also brings about the hardest puzzles in the game. Now, we reach the point of having to use all of our resources. Will it be enough?

In the tutorial, there's an actually helpful tip: only safe chests can accuse themselves.
Specifically, mimics can't say there's a mimic in their own color or column (because that'd be true), so any chest that says "there's 0 mimics in the only other color here" is guaranteed either safe or confused.
Handy!
Does that apply to "I am not a mimic"?
@@fullmoonshadow6967 that is not accusing themselvs, mimics can say they themselvs are safe but not that they are not safe
@@fullmoonshadow6967 Nah. It means that if, for example, a red chest is saying there is a mimic in red, then it can't possibly be lying.
@@thexp905 Well, it could be, but it's because the chest is confused. Basically, you can't be sure whether or not there is actually a mimic in red from this clue alone (unless this is the only red chest), but you can conclude the chest saying this is not a mimic.
The chest threatening tyler of dying if he doesn't get to the next floor is so funny
Yeah that's a thing but if it's a mimic then you won't die.
Also ngl hate how the mimic's essentialy jumpscare you when you open them, such an asshole move IMO

10:02 shout out the dev of this game. incredibly unique and great idea. a chest telling you you're gonna die if you don't work fast that could be telling the truth or lying is such good game design i love it
Now the question is, even if it is telling the truth, does it actually *do* anything? Do you die instantly, or does a monster just spawn on you? We might never know.
@@fullmoonshadow6967 From others who've played a bit more than I have, it acts like the mimic and will kill you.
true, but as a person who has had this happen to me when i have a charm in my inventory that protects you from a mimic it does not save you from this situation you will just die no matter what if it is telling the truth@@thexp905

I think the editor highlighting the chests should get a raise.
You don’t even know what they’re paid
@@erikmoore1418 It isn't enough. Highlighting chests is hard work.

what if they're both highlighting chests?
Then maybe one of them is the mimic and/or the other one is confused

I think it would be fun to have a chest saying “I am the mimic” meaning it’s guaranteed confused
This is actually possible. Confused chests can say "I'm a mimic." Though you have to be astronomically lucky for it to happen.
Truth-telling mimics and lying non-mimics in doubt mode can also say "I'm a mimic".
11:57 pretty sure the trick is knowing that there are zero chests with gold. Ergo, the middle one is telling the truth, while the top left chest is either confused or lying.
Which the editor highlighted at 11:39 with a yellow circle for our benefit. Great editing.
there was an update the optimise button now equipts the lowest damage to deal with an enemy so you don't waste durability on your best weapon if you don't need
yeah as a person who plays this game, it really annoyed me
more puzzle games should just have a one time thing where one of the puzzles pulls a gun on you and sets a timer
20:36 the 3 boxes that could be lying could not be lying because if they were then the mimics would be side by side which is not possible.
The red one (top right) could have been confused, making this train of thought incorrect as it is not a mimic (also it is that set of three, the bottom left one is the catalyst for that answer)
@@spydermunkee2134
The key to understanding this puzzle is that a confused chest is NOT a Mimic, and cannot be truthfully reffered to as one.
From left to right and then top to bottom, the 2 "opposing teams" here are chests numbered 1, 6 and 8, versus chests numbered 2, 3 and 9.
If "2 of the Mimics are not neighbors" is false, and since there are only two real Mimics, then one of them is the neighbor of the other, and so they are both neighbors, which is strictly impossible in this case.
That means "2 of the Mimics are not neighbors" is true, which in turn means that the two only actual Mimics cannot touch each other.
In that case, the 9th chest must be one of the two Mimics, and then a "Blue Orb" item must be used to determine which chest between the 2nd and the 3rd is only a "confused" one.
@@loucantnotwhy was this replied to me? I have already stated that their reasoning of “these 3 can’t be lying” was FALSE since confused aren’t mimics
I also stated that 7 is the catalyst for my thought process since the groups have been established as 1,6,8 and 2,3,9. you can use 7 which is “leftmost column has no mimic” making 1 true leading to 2 or 3 being confused (I used 3 as an example just to speed things up)
Not everyone needs the same thought process on a puzzle that has multiple ways to go through it, as long as they’re using everything they’re given 😘
@@spydermunkee2134 there can only be three liars so if 2 of the mimics are not neighbors is false, 1 6 and 8 would have to be the three liars, but with their placement 2 would also be lying which would make 4 which can't be possible meaning 1 6 and 8 are telling the truth and 2 is lying. both 3 and 9 are falsely accusing 6 so they are lying too. since the mimics are not neighbors 9 has to be 1 of the mimics. the confused one is either 2 or 3.
the three boxes saying the mimics are not side-by-side cannot be mimics because only TWO chests could be mimics at the time. those chests were innocent. they would also be telling the truth.

One tip for the game if you hold down the open chests button, the chests open faster. It feels good, and does save some time when you're playing without upgrades
17:45 who was screamming was that that box is the confused one due to its open...
me
There is a logic trick with this game that really simplifies it, a self accusatory chest cannot be a mimic because a lying mimic cannot accuse itself. (It can be confused though)
Yeah, the fact that it can be confused makes the game so much harder but he did miss a self-accusatory box in one of the puzzles he skipped most of them.
0:35 see and here is my brain overthinking “but what if that other pair is actually the liars, not the other ones, we can’t rule them out.”
If R1C2 and R2C1 are liars, then that exhausts the number of liars there can be on the floor. Those chests would then really be saying that there is a Mimic in C3, which would exceed the number of liars--contradiction.
It's good that you took the time to overthink all the possibilities, at least. I'm still blown away that Tyler can follow it through so quickly, though maybe at this point it's pattern recognition.
@@meissmart6678okay I deadass made a diagram and still dont get it please break it down for me
My notes:
If bottom row has mimic lie
-> bottom row has no mimics
-X “bottom has mimic” box is at bottom
--> not possible
Bottom row has mimic must be true
Bottom row no mimic is a lie in that case. Confused box
If rightmost column has no mimic lie
-> over 2 liars
-> not possible
Bottom row no mimic and bottom row mimic contradict, one must be a liar. Since bottom has mimic lie is not possible, bottom row no mimic must be liar
Also means rightmost column has possible mimic - but implies 3 liars
Unless if bottom row no mimic is confused: thus not a mimic. Rightmost column no mimic would be true
In that case, top row has mimic would be lie -> top row has mimic is the mimic
No idea if my conclusion is right

@@ollie_last From what I can tell the conclusion you're describing at the end of your comment is the 1:07 one. If you have trouble with the 0:58 one let me know.
@@ollie_lastit’s possible for “bottom row has a mimic” to be wrong because the mimic saying that in the bottom row could merely be confused
10:02 I am pretty sure the bottom left has to be confused as if it was telling the truth, the other black box would need to be a mimic (which is not true) but if it is a mimic it is saying* that there has to be less/an equal amount of mimics in black than blue which would be false. That makes the bottom-left box confused and the top-left the mimic and the others non-mimics.
Yes.
It's a paradox. If it's telling the truth the it is the mimic and mimics can only lie. It's confused.
I thought finding a paradox is easy but that blue chest timer made him lose composure and it's funny.
One chest that was threatening Tyler was pure gold
Im just imagining, a box coming out to its parents and their going like "your not a mimic, your just confused"
I think it would be interesting for there to be a game mode where _every_ box is Confused, and either the Mimics also lie or the Mimics are the only ones who tell the truth
A reversal would be cool
there is a game mode like that it is the other 6 star difficulty game mode the mimic tells the truth but all other chests of the same color as the mimic lie
I don't think it matters if the chests are lying or not; if a chest speaks to me, I'm going to be suspicious.
i regret eating anything at 9:17 that made me laugh so hard lmaoo
9:16 the mimic and confused boxes are the left boxes on the top row and bottom row respectively, the black box is confused, and the red box is the mimic, cause the black box is accusing itself, which mimics can’t do, cause it would create a paradox, while lying boxes can, which means the top left red box is the mimic, you must keep this in mind for doubt, which is a harder version of the confused difficulty.
Alternative title: “One Chest is Lying, One Chest is an Idiot”
21:56
That gut timer is really doing some damage.
The 2 bottom black chests are clearly the mimics, and the black chest below the red is confused.
8:13-ish -- Top right and middle are both saying that the bottom row has more mimics than the top. In addition, the middle-right one is saying that the bottom row contains a mimic. Considering there is only one mimic, they are essentially all saying the same thing, namely that the only mimic is in the bottom row. The bottom row has two chests, one of which states that "the bottom row is totally safe, trust me bro!", so that one has to be the mimic.
I’m not sure if you read all of your comments but the videos you make genuinely bring me joy. In my worst moments I can always find comfort in a puzzle you are solving or a challenge you are overcoming, Be proud of what you do. :)

On the puzzle on the card, i think pink is meant to be a confused chest, while red is the mimic, cause they are only two chests, and one is confused and the other is a mimic, that means red must be the mimic, and pink must be confused
one of the tips for the game you get by talking to the guy in the shopping center says that all chests who say they will kill you in X seconds are liars. I don’t fully know if this is the case cause I’ve only tested it once so far, but if the tip guy says it, it is likely to be true.
Imagine if at one point the threatening chest could be a mimic, that'd be a conundrum wouldn't it?
Round two, I think I got it. Mimics protect themselves but the other just doesn’t know what’s going on because they’re not protecting themselves because they know they are not the mimic but doesn’t know which one is so it’s guessing
You are so good at this game! It is so satisfying watching you play!
You need to do level 2. The level of skill here is so high. Also love the editor highlighting the boxes
puzzle at 21:5 is clear that these tree that reported that mimic are not neighbors have to be all true. No two of them are neighboors and mimics always lie. Thus liars are chest 2;3 and 9
?
12:03 mayybe theres a reason you're told whats in the boxes ahead of time
11:53 - You can read the top and see how many are gold chests or item chests. The chest says there's gold hiding somewhere but the top says 0 gold. So you know they are the liar or confused.
I don't get how to distinguish the liar and confused as they are both stated wrong things.

The Gut mechanic is such a good idea because it gives the player a timer.
In theory you could skip chests if you're really stumped, no? In which case, you can always solve as much as you need to and leave.
Imagine if the Mimic that was threatening you was either a Mimic or Confused.
I thought confused boxes could mean mimics that tell the truth... they've probably done that at some point...
There's another mode that works that way, the mimics tell the truth, but all other chests of the same color as the mimic lie
I'm enjoying Chest Game, it's a fun change of pace. I hope we get to see the different game modes!
The confused difficulty was… confusing. But I love this game, and I would love to see more of it, though maybe a more followable difficulty.

The black box had to be a mimic, since if it was confused, saying that "there is a mimic among the red boxes", then that would mean there would be absolutely 0 mimics. This could have saved you an orb. Also since you KNOW FOR A FACT that it is lying, as the confused box always lies, then that makes the black box automatically the Mimic, as it would instead state "there isn't a mimic among the red boxes" which means it would be directly accusing itself.
But you are assuming the box is not a legit box. It could have been a legit chest, and the top right was confused. This one required the orb, it seems.
A much easier way to think about it is top right is literally saying top middle isn't a mimic so top left is mimic and top middle is confused
@@navster100except that top right can be confused. Making top middle a mimic while keeping all boxes logic correct besides that of the mimic and the confused.

The most terrifying thing is that that blue box was likely telling the truth, given the number of contradictions around it. So we're fortunate that puzzle boy here made it out alive.
Would've been funny if the blue box that was threatening you to hurry up or die was a mimic.
It was mind-blowing! 🤯
And I'm very surprised that this Blue Chest doesn't like you SO MUCH xD
At one point there was q bix that said "there is no gold inside any of the black(i think) boxes."

optimize gear works slightly differently now, it chooses gear that does damage as close to the enemy's health as possible or slightly over
5:33 the black one was a mimic, because the mid top red one and the bottom mid blue one would both be confused(they both are lying assuming that the top left chest is the mimic) and the top left one would be lying if the mid bottom one is the mimic, meaning that only the bottom left chest could be a mimic

Bottom Left- Can't be mimic as 2 reds would have to lie
Center Right Red- can't be mimic or confused as Black is not a mimic
Top Right as mimic/confused would be impossible, as it is Red and would contradict itself (as Black is not a mimic)

the most basic logic puzzles can reveal a lot about critical thinking ability
12:27 This Was Easy, the red box said theres some gold hiding in black boxes, But in the top it says Gold:0
Man the whole confusion thing makes every single box six times harder
9:08 is simple; as there is only one Mimic, either bottom left and top left are lying, or right and top right are lying. That means the other three are telling the truth. If bottom left and top left are telling the truth, then there's a contradiction regarding the black boxes. Thus, they must be lying. Then right and top right are telling the truth, the Mimic is top left, and the confused box is bottom left.
Actually took me less than a minute to figure that out, ample time to get to the next floor.
I know how to win. Ask each of them if they are currently on the sun.

22:00 the middle right chest is confused, because the red chest says it's not a mimic.
If gut goes under 10 while you are listening to boxes, the game does signal it to you with visual and auditory warnings, so you don't really need to care about it until the warning pops up
That is a very important and good thing

Love a Tyler video to start my weekend.
Chest at 10:01, Tick Tock Tyler!
Me: Get that gun out of my face!
One is a mimic, one is confused, and next one is going to be a reverse psychology mimic
The one at 20:30 was actually super easy to get 5. There are only 2 mimics. 3 of the boxes say the same thing: the 2 mimics are not neighbors. If they are lying or confused, they are all lying or confused and therefore mimics. The negative of their statement is that the mimics would be neighbors, yet none of the boxes are adjacent. That means that all 3 must be telling the truth. The bottom right is therefore lying or a mimic, meaning 2 lying chests remain. Top right is lying for the same reason. Top middle is lying because it's statement is the negative of the 3 we clear in the beginning. From there, there is no way to disambiguate the mimics from the confused chest without a crystal.
Mimic Logic, my beloved ❤
I love the editing at 10:30
2:12 I feel you, text bubble
On the first set of chests, the confused chest was the bottom right. Either the top left and the bottom right are correct and the bottom middle is a mimic, or the bottom right is confused, the top left is a mimic, and the bottom middle is correct. The first answer is wrong, as there is then no confused chest. As such, you basically 50/50'ed it the first time, although the 2 blue chests saying no mimic were correct.
