I always find it funny how 1979 (with a mediocre 9-7 record) was the season that they FINALLY made it to the Super Bowl after years of being one of the best teams only to fall short.
We should have won that game. The Rams outplayed the Steelers. GO RAMS!!!
O please rams were never going to win
Paul. Your absolutely right.
Great but you still lost
@@ronxavier5285 the difference in the game was a hobbled Jack Youngblood!
If 85 was 100 percent Bradshaw would of gotten sacked!
@@jamescoleakaericunderwood2503 you can't be serious. Injuries are a part of all sports. They are lousy excuses. But I do have tremendous respect for Youngblood playing on a broken leg
They had some great players back then.😊🏈
As huge Ram fans my brother and I had suffered through all those exciting yet frustrating seasons of the 70's. We thought we were staring down another playoff loss to Dallas in '79. When Ferragamo hit Waddy for the winning touchdown, we took one look at each other, ran across the room and slammed together so hard I broke my brother's glasses. It may have been the single most, simultaneously shocking and thrilling moment in my life as a sports fan.
This depleted Rams team had more heart and grit than the teams before them constantly beaten by either Dallas or Minnesota in the Playoffs!
Rams are a team of destiny this year !!!
Love the rich history of the L.A. Rams! Rams certainly had their share of glory days and legendary players!
Now in 2024, the Rams have won 2 Super Bowls and became one of only 3 teams in the NFL to have won Super Bowls in different cities.
Here after the Rams win in the Super Bowl.
Rams offensive line in '79 was one of the alltime bests.
1969 was their best team
@@barbaracarollThe Greatest Show On Turf was the greatest offense ever assembled.
That team lost in embarrassing way in the super bowl plus I thought we were talking about the 1960s-70s los Angeles Rams not a team that played in a dome and moves from city to city
@@barbaracarollLost in an embarrassing way??🤔What are you talking about? That team won us our first SB.You stopped watching the Rams when they moved or into a domed stadium?FAKE FAN!!!!
That Defense with the nonrelated Youngblood's, Hunter (Fred Dryer) Cromwell, Pat Thomas, Larry Brooks, Mike Fanning, Bob Brudzinski, Rod Perry (injured) pitched 3 shutouts including the NFC Championship, and the number of goal line stands is almost uncountable. They were awesome.
3:31 "Jack Youngblood, who played with a broken leg..."
War damn eagle Auburn
Nowadays it would say, “Antonio Brown was fearless and played with a broken nail.”
It was a hairline fractured leg actually, but still impressive.
HORNS UP.
Back to the Super Bowl for the LOS ANGELES Rams! SB LVI. It should be a great one with the Cincinnati Bengals!
It was!
I watched this game when I was stationed on Okinawa !
its crazy that they moved to Anaheim from coliseum. Coliseum to Sofi staidum 😲
Should've won that one! Led most of the game in a back and forth battle.
War eagle
They couldn't score in the second half. So no.
100%
@@clemmiebell6799 They did score in the 2nd half.
Did they lead most of the game?
40+ years later, I still get emotional watching the highlights. We were 8-1 against Pittsburgh going in to that game, & losing a 4th quarter lead just adds salt to the wounds. The most unlikeliest team of all those divisional winners to finally make it that far is bittersweet. We'll get the monkey off of our backs this year & overlap the Raiders' fluky championship in L.A. This is our year. Horns up!!!!!!!
I was 4 years I was there, it was the thick of it, from the rams to the bowl to the pen to the ring 💍
The 7th time was the charm for these Rams.
After losing so many times playoffs, it was the season in which they played the worst, that they finally landed in the Super Bowl.
Coming after an off season in which the owner died.
They suffered an avalanche of injuries.
Those injuries should have finished the supposedly gutless chockers from Hollywood.
But, they summoned up the heart no one thought they had,
and accomplished something great.
This team is a testament to courage, perseverance, and pure guts.
They never quit.
I was a senior in high school and a fan since 1966. I can still remember I thought Rams were going to win
I’m a LA native born & bred 41 years & still here I’m a Raiders fan die hard but to know a team that reps Los Angeles I’m going for even the teams that represent the Golden State
Jack Lamberts' interception faded the Rams chance of winning Superbowl 14 into black reality. 😊
Awesome!!!!
That 1979 NFL season proves that anything can happen in the playoffs regardless of the regular season. Weirder things have happened multiple times since.
Los Angeles RAMS
That game winning pass to Waddy against the Cowboys was sick! Still pains me, though, that they came up short against the Steelers after leading at halftime.
Hello Rams
What a team. So proud of these guys.
The week 10 game at Seattle was the turnaround for the Rams in 1979! True they lost to the Bears in Chicago in week 11! But the Seahawks game is where it turned for the Rams in 1979!
Love the rams Wendell Tyler the Youngbloods still got my rams ring from hall of fame in canton plus other great players
Rams great team!
If ....IF.... Youngblood was 💯 percent Bradshaw would of never had time enough to complete the passes to Stallworth ...check it out yourself...79 season was his best...took my Son to Canton in 2001 got his official Ram helmet signed on the left horn by Youngblood and the right horn by Fred Dryer....in Canton ... priceless....Pops took me to my first Ram game in 1969...they beat the Niners that day...Eric Underwood class of 81 Downey High School California
I love these how these how sb teams got there
If they had finished the job at the SB maybe they would have never moved to St. Louis. As it was they were always considered chokers and the Raiders came in, won a SB, and stole the heart of the city.
Super Bowl XIV was a lot closer than the scoreboard indicated it to be. I'll never forget the Los Angeles Times Sports Headline the day after the Super Bowl: THIS WAS ALMOST THE YEAR OF THE RAM.
1979 Rams NFC Champions
1999 Super Bowl Champions*
2018 Rams NFC Champions
2021 Super Bowl Champions
*Rams franchise was in St. Louis, Missouri at the time; in 2016, the Rams returned to Los Angeles
If you put 2+2 together, you know the difference that the Rams made it to the Super Bowl, but lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pasadena.... But then Rams host the Super Bowl in Inglewood and beat the Cincinnati Bengals in February 2022.....
However the 1979 Rams, despite of hard times throughout most of the season; pulled it together and win the National Football Conference Champions....
That's the history, but comeback kids (1979 Rams) are the true survivors of the regular season package....
Thank you for playing this video.
45 Years Today in 2024:
Well, let's see how it goes with today's Los Angeles Rams 🤔🇺🇸🏈💙💛💙💛.
2001 NFC Champion
@@coreylevine8095 oh , I forgot about that one...2001 NFC Title*.... but lose to the Patriots. Thank you
@@tyrondavis6727Especially since I consider 2001 our best team as a Rams fan. Yes even better than our 1999 & 2021 teams.
11:23 a set of legs to die for.
Brooks hire & Summer all were feeling great up in the booth that day! I remember the game like it was yesterday as they say.at one PT .in the third pd.I remember tom saying " boy you can really see the fur flying in this one" !
79. Rams beat bucs in NFC title game.
99. Rams beat bucs in NFC title game.
Buccaneers....ZERO TD's against Rams in NFC Championship games
2021 Rams beat bucs in NFC divisional game
Backup quarterback replaced the starter and played better than the starter and took the team to the SB
Despite a 9-7 record the rams were great at the right time even in the Super Bowl
Honestly this years Rams team gives me similar vibes to this one.
@@ErykMccarrthy-ds5wfYes, they lost the final game that really mattered, just like 1979( Jan 1980)
Waddy was open, Ray.
Georgia did not mastermind this team to the Super Bowl. Imagine what it took to build this team, then to keep able bodies on the roster during one of the most injury riddled seaasons ever played. Only a genius, master personnel man could do that. He lead the Rams through their most successful decade of winning ever. Ever! Don Klosterman belongs in the Hall of Fame.
That team made la proud in a losing effort
Super Bowl LVI win is for you….Jackie Fred Vince waddy
Steelers 👍🇺🇸
After years of choking in the playoffs. This team over achieved. Just as in the previous five years it had under achieved
Vf tried that against steelers in 4th qtr only to intercepted by Jack lambert
Man look at all the Hall of Famers on that Pittsburgh team holy smoke...
It’s always been painful to watch Billy Waddy running wide open in the end zone.
Wendle Taylor went on to start for 49ers in sb 19
Tyler
Yes, my bad, sorry for the mistake, thanks for pointing it out
Him & Hacksaw Reynolds.Traitors🤦🏽
How about Tampa hosting an NFC championship in their 3rd year.
What is that at 16:29?
A fake fg instead of 24 yd chip shot.
War eagle 🦅
A game without touchdowns? not one to watch if you like 37-35 games
For some strange reason the rams always played the Steelers tough back then even beating the Steelers 10-7 and 10-3 in 1978 and 1975… the Steelers were all time 0-14-1 against the rams before Super Bowl 14…. But steelerswin this game no matter what. Steelers won even with Wagner and ham not playing in the game and swann not playing in the 4th quarter and the Steelers overcame 3 bradshaw interceptions and bud carson being the DC for the rams where he was with the Steelers the previous 7 years. Plus joe Greene was only at 65% playing capacity due to his pinched nerve… Steelers won. Rams lost. Heck even Tampa bay only lost 9-0 during the ncf championship game…. Steelers would have not list this game no matter what
warning: video stretched into fake widescreen from original 4:3 version. Please do not upload any of these inferior products into the public. There's really no argument in favor of that practice, and it's sad that the ignorant who accept these poor versions may never know.
3 points in the super bowl 😂 the rams are weak af
Boneless Gushers....never as week as the Niners were in the 60s and 70s...
They need to Do yearbooks on all the season
@@ericsigersmith2831 Well they have team pictures of every year....Coaches and players all are in them....
Just like the 1971 Dolphins
But you're so worried about our team you had to come here and worry about us, even to this day.
