Totally agree, you actually have 3 critical items to worry about, the FOB, which could fall out of a pocket or the battery could die or the key, which could be lost as well, and the backup key, which I taped under one of the panels, so if plunder the FOB I can at least get home.

Yeah, can’t disagree when it comes to Kawasaki’s options.

If Kawasaki wanted a keyless system, it should have been offered as an option. It should have had a standard key ignition, unless the customer ordered it with the keyless setup...

Hi i only can think one positive reason for being keyless at the moment.
I personally never had a bike with a keyless system. All my bikes were with physical keys. So, I can not say much.
However, the reason is the security during the ride.
This didn't happen with me but I have witnessed it: central London gang on the traffic light attack the biker, very fast removed the physical key from ignition and drove off with the scooters, only later to return and steal the bike that was left on the side of the road - while the biker went home to fetch his spare key.

BMW supply a little plastic key which you can keep in your wallet for such emergencies, however, I wasn't happy with that, hence the spare FOB. As to my main FOB, I have it on a chain and attached to my belt and it lives in my pocket so I don't lose it. Perhaps they thought it would prevent bike theft gangs from riding up beside you and grabbing your key, which happens in London a lot. The one I really don't get, which triumph and Harley and possibly others do on some bikes, is the ingnition on the side of the bike behind the rider. I've subbed as I've seen you on the UK live streams. I own a ZZR I totally get the buzz you were referring to at the end 😯 😁

I also like the same thing about my Kawasaki Concours, tricked out a little bit with full titanium exhaust, ECU flash, and Dyno tune, as I ride with R1's, BMW 1000's, Gixers, and Busas, and have no trouble keeping up at WOT, more than keeping up if you can believe that, but I'm comfortable after a 50 mile hard ride and they are getting tired.

Although my 2008 came with 2x FOBs. I just purchased the 2022 model (yes I love it that most that I had to buy the last generation), and comes with the thin key like you have and 1x regular FOB. Bikes are exposed to the elements - electronics don´t like that - consequently electronic gremlins bother us. Vendors know it, but can´t resist to address "buyers want´s & needs" no one has asked for, so we get all this electronic stuff including keyless-go. I prefer bikes with keys and minimal electronics.

Unfortunate. I think a Harley fob is like $80? so not as bad as $500. I don't particularly like the fob system because if you want to move your bike around in neutral say in your garage the alarm (well the flashing light portion of the alarm) goes off. If I lost a fob I'd have to type a long pin number using clunky indicators to scroll through numbers so that would be annoying too.

    • @aussiemotolife347
