- This is a question I get asked a lot. Pairing a link style gold chain with a rounded. Generally rounded links like: Franco, rope, heavy link, anchor tend to appear a little bigger than the flat style chains: flat curbs, miami cubans, figaro chains. I offer my tips for the best look for pairing the two different styles. It comes down to whatever your preference is. Thank you for watching!

I just received my 3rd Jacoje purchase, 5th piece from Braden. Stop looking. You found your jeweler. Most recently I purchased a 1.4mm box chain. I’m very very impressed with the attention to detail on the soldering near clasp. Only jeweler I’ll go to.
A thinner longer round chain with a pendant looks fire together with a thicker shorter curbed/ Cuban on top. In my opinion that’s the best look, neck profile with the big one tucked in is🔥

my personal favorite pair is a 3.5mm 22in 14k yellow rope and a 7mm 24in 14k yellow cuban
I two-chain a round and flat link at the same length daily. To me, the key is matching the “thickness” of both chains as close as possible. The rope is 3mm and the flat curb is 6mm, but they’re both 22in and complement each other because of that similar “thickness”

so, i have a 18" 14mm cuban link that i wear daily, and have been thinking about adding a second.. i used to wear a 22" figaro chain and it honestly was a little too long for what i do daily, but a 20" would work... would you suggest i go with another 14mm in 20", or would a smaller size, like say 10mm or 12mm work well with that 18"?
note: i have a pretty thick neck, and 18" is just barely not a choker.. like i get used to wearing it, but if i ever take if off, i definitely can tell that its gone... i am pretty set on the length, im just curious about the width...

If you like it go for it. However, rule of thumb is that you want the longer chain to be bigger then the shorter chain. Unless both chains is close to thickness. It's all.your preference at end of day

The rope is actually really difficult to dwarf due to how it is designed, unless you start going a full mm over. For bracelets I wear two 3.5 mm ropes and a 3 mm franco. The ropes are a BIT more noticeable but again that's because of their design. They have a fuller look to them.
So in your case you could pair a 2.5 mm rope with a 2.5 mm heavy link and they would look nearly identical in size. Also gotta take into consideration the ropes are diamond cut so that 2.5 rope is probably 2.2 or 2.3 after diamond cutting.
@@TranceForLyfe makes sense man, would you rather have the 20 in 2.5 rope holding the pendant and then a 2-2.5 Franco and a 3mm rope stacked at 24”? Or should I do a 2 inch difference adding another rope to stack at 20” and having a 3mm Franco at 22” holding the pendant? I’m thinking this could be too much but also would look good if I do it right. It’s either that or just doing a 2 rope chain like you said the longer one being a mm bigger because I like that look.

@@jaydens2756 If I am understanding this right, you're thinking of wearing 3 chains and 1 pendant all at once? Personally that is bit too much around the neck. I couldn't pull off that look myself, at least not without getting way more attention than i want lol.
My suggestion would be to wear the smaller chain with a pendant on top, so depending on your neck size you could probably do a 18 or 20 inch chain with a pendant. If you go with a pendant, you want there to be 4 inches of spacing between that and your bigger chain below it for a perfect layered look. So your setup would be an 18 or 20 inch chain w/pendant on top and a 22 or 24 inch chain on bottom. Does that make sense?
If you want to just go with a simple 2 chain setup (no pendant) then you want there to be 2 inches of spacing between the chains. My 2 ropes are 22 inch 3.5 mm and 24 inch 4 mm. They layer beautifully and couldn't ask for a better two chain setup at least for me. Big takeaway here though is always have the smaller chain on top and bigger chain on bottom. It's the perfect look in my opinion. I know Braden has a few videos on this look specifically with the ropes, looks amazing. Hope this helps!

At the same length you’ll find that rope chain will scratch up the Cuban 👍🏻
