Metalcore/Nu metal: You crab & rap with the Beast.🦀 Glam metal: You're too drunk to care about the Beast. Kawaii metal: You play hide and seek with the Beast.👹🤘🔥
Great reaction. Budokan 2014 were the first concerts (apart from some shows in May 2013 that have no recordings) where the Kami Band played the whole show (not just the encores) and where they were finally established as the full time support for all live shows. In this one they were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus (guitars), BOH (bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni👹 (a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... which amuses me probably more than it should😁). The growling vocals (they are on a backing track as usual of course) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀👹 There are a couple of theories on the red shoes - one being they're easy to spot - not good if you're trying to hide, but the other relates to a Japanese folk tale of a girl either kidnapped by a foreigner or a girl suffering from TB given to an American missionary by her mother to take to America for treatment.
Awesome thank you for all the info. I remembered and figured out it was the Oni while editing lol. Trying to figure out why my brain wasn't working. The red shoes definitely confused me. But the song is so fun!
Great reaction! The intro to the next song at the end is Uki Uki Midnight, another really good song which I really recommend you check out. Either from this concert or another doesn't really matter, but the Budokan 2014 concerts were something special in their early years.
Great reaction, thanks! Heaviest song about playing hide and seek... Yes, "Catch me if you can" is about playing hide and seek or tag... BUT... with an "oni", a sort of Japanese ogre. This was my very first BABYMETAL song, so it's very special for me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is definitely one of their heaviest songs instrumentally but it also has one of their cutest choreos, including my personal favorite move: the infamous "Moa slide" hehe... This is what Du-metal explained about the "red shoes": "I think the lyric writer probably refers to a fairy tale "the Red Shoes" by H. C. Andersen, 1849. In that story, a girl who loved her red shoes was put under a curse, and, once she wore them, she couldn't take them off and couldn't stop dancing until she had her feet chopped off. Andersen's red shoes are obviously dangerous, and the lyrics "mada mada iku yo" (= we are going still more) & BABYMETAL's steps of this song give me the impression of an endless dance. The lyric writer, however, may refer to a children's song "Akai Kutsu" by NOGUCHI Ujoo, 1922. The lyric of that song is like this: "A girl wearing red shoes was taken out by a foreigner, from Yokohama by ship. I imagine her eyes has become blue and she lives in a foreign country. When I see red shoes or meet a foreigner, I think of her." The phrase at issue is "連れられて 行っちゃった" (tsurerarete itchatta). It is not told whether she was willing to go abroad or not, but not a few Japanese seem to take this as "連れて行かれちゃった" (tsurete-ikarechatta) which means she was taken out regardless of her will. And the lonely melody seems somehow to scare some Japanese into imagining a foreign kidnapper looking for the girls wearing red shoes. If there were such a kidnapper, to wear red shoes should be dangerous" I have never experienced "CMIYC" live but I just saw them live last Sunday in Toulouse, France and it was an amazing show. They had so much fun on stage and the interaction with the crowd was fantastic. I got barrier for the first time and it made it even more special. It was the 6th time I see them live, starting in May 2023. 😅 🤘🦊
great reaction Hokkyo-Metal, yeah, they are killing it on the festival circuit, and today was there last in Spain, they are not scheduled again until August 20th, so I hope they get some rest and have fun celebrating Moa's birthday coming up on the 4th of July, I always shoot off a few fireworks for Moa.
This is the first song I ever heard from Babymetal, I was looking up random Japanese stuff on youtube and just randomly clicked on this song, after that I randomly choose another video to watch (Su's Graduation vid) I had No idea they were "related" to each other, half way through the video I realized this girl Graduating is the singer of the band I just watched... It made me cry when Moa ran up to Su... The next video i watched was the Karate MV, again, it made me cry when Su lift Moa up of the ground, you can tell Moa looks up to Su so much, and Su just looks in her eyes like "I got your back lil sis" Since then Ive Loved Babymetal!!! So happy you did this song! Its my fav! Hope youre having a great day man!
Ok, today this is my favourite BM song. I mean... This is the perfect example of what babymetal was born for: Heavy+Cute as hell. Can't get enough of them. They come to Spain in 2 days but i can't go to see them, I had plans already made for these dates. Hope next year... Babymetal Forever!!🦊🦊🍅🦊

BUT, you stand no chance of getting that through RUclips copyrights lol. Gotta be patreon or rumble or something along those lines. 🤘🦊
As mentioned - not just singers. They always have an unreal live band when they perform live and there is plenty of fantastic guitar work from their band in all their songs and concerts. Their band is not really the focus though. It is the songwriting, the vocals and the dancing and the dance is an integral part of the show. Yes officially Babymetal is just the three ladies. Yes they are big - Japan's biggest musical export (but not the biggest domestically - those are pop bands), a top metal band world wide, and different from just about anything you have ever seen.
If you want to go a bit more in depth in BM songs, you should go to A.J. Hartley channel, where he does a deep dive into BM lyrics! He is a novelist and a shakespare professor! The song they played after CMIYC (how we shorten this song name) was Uki Uki Midnight!! I was just few days ago in Rome for their show!! They were excellent as usual, Moa pranked Su during Road of Resistance and they mimed eating spaghetti during Megitsune!! It was really hot, but they gave their best! Shame they only did 10 songs... I wanted more 🤣
