Yeah.. It's a PITA, but for FedEx especially, make sure you have your packages redirected to a Walgreens where they have to lock it up and you have to sign for the package. Also, they make Ring devices for Apartments don't require drilling and will send you alerts when movement is detected outside your door.
Yeah, that’s exactly what I did when I re-ordered… hold for pick up. A real bummer. And totally… ring would be a smart investment. That delivery driver probably looked at the mount and just threw it away 😅
The build is coming along great! I like how you made the monitors mount flexible to fit different production scenarios. I do have the full Tilta Kit and the bottom plate does makes it tall/too heavy. Great content!
The baseplate just seemed unnecessary for my needs and I saved a few bucks by omitting it. And yeah, I’m really proud of the monitor mount solution. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight!
Great setup!! Smallrig makes much more affordable parts at a fraction of the price, the same if not better quality than W. C. Try them out, and save yourself a lot of money!
Smallrig is great for some products but not for precision monitor mounts in my opinion. I’ve tried a fair share of them and they always lose tension after awhile or need two hands to adjust.
I run dual monitors because in the worst case scenario, touch to focus can really help out. But I also need a bigger brighter monitor with video tools. That small HD setup looks clean though!
glad you got your build! That’s unfortunate about fedex though. Get a doorbell cam. I don’t recommend the ring one if you don’t like paying a subscription to look at your recorded videos
When did you talk about getting the Shimoda? Sick pickup. I've been eyeballing the x70 for almost a year. Did not know Shimoda had a dr bag though. the Fx9 is on my radar this year, but our big new year pickups were the FX30, A7IV and G master 24-70 and 70-200.
I talked about it in an earlier vlog and I was fixated on have a DR style bag that I could place a fully loaded rig into… and most importantly that had wheels. I’ve looked at a ton of bags and most didn’t have the height clearance I needed. This one is just a bit over 10” which is perfect with the fx6 and and all my accessories. Funny enough when I placed the cam into the bag, I could figure out why I had so much space around it. “What items are supposed to be there?” And I realized “Oh, everything is already connected to the camera 🤣 that’s why there’s so much space “
The Core batteries are great. I ran through them to test how accurate the timers are. It was solid until the last 25%, and after was only off by about 10 minutes total, after 3 hours! I’m still not super stoked on the FX6 foot long interviews where I still want 4K 10 bit. There’s no long-GOP option.
Thanks man! No I don’t use cinema glass bc I use autofocus during interviews. My main lens is the Sigma 24-70. And I use the EF version bc it has stabilization. The E mount version does not.
By replacing the LCD screen you will lose the benefits of touch screen operation. Won't you miss being able to tap on faces and objects for quick focus adjustment and tracking?
It was a conscious decision where I thought the pros outweigh the cons. I mainly use autofocus during interviews and I put it on Face Only. So I don’t need to tap on anything. Perhaps in the future I can utilize tap to focus and can put on the VF. But for the majority of things I do not need it.

Haha I’m glad you nerd out as much as I do. Yes, buying the proprietary and extremely overpriced dtap to lpe6 cable from smallhd. It’s annoying to pay that much but supposedly it is perfect. My philosophy with this rig is to buy once, cry once.
@@davidmorefield soo overpriced. I got the indiprotools one instead. you ever find a screen protector for the 502 bright. I have yet to locate one that fits.

It’s the SmallHD 502 bright. You will see it used on a ton of high end productions but it’s not made anymore. I was able to find one on eBay. I love it for the size and extremely low power draw. And it has ports on the back. Not like current monitors that have cables poking out the side, just waiting to get snapped off. It’s very well designed.
@@davidmorefield Thank you for replying. because I don't remember which version of smallhd 5 inch was that compact after the original smallhd 5, actually was a good size and I think the small hd 5 cine or something must've been their replacement. love your corporate stuff content.
@@davidmorefield just an fyi, since you didn't have luck with b&h(?) you can always file a claim with your credit card company. They almost always side with you. It might cause your b&h acct to be suspended but who cares unless you've got points.
Smallhd 502 Bright. It’s an industry standard monitor but was discontinued a few years ago. You can find one on eBay every once in awhile if you’re lucky.

Totally understand that. There are certain shoots where I will add it on for convenience but for most shoots, I like the minimal build.
Thank for the recommendation on the XLR I picked up 2 sets.
That’s great to hear! Definitely makes me feel better to have a lower chance of bending cables.

That is a dream rig lmao. What camera did you use before you had the C70?
That’s how I’m treating it haha
Before the was GH5S, 80D, 60D, Sony vx2000.

Yeah such a dumb limitation. I almost shoot exclusively in 4k 10 bit long gop on c70. Each camera has their pros and cons.
And thank you so much for the info on the batteries!
Hi pal, mind doing a rig set up for your Sony fx6 please? Or list out what kind of rig parts you use in the description?
I'm setting up an amazon storefront where it will have links to everything I use!
@@davidmorefield ok sure will be looking forward to!
Beautiful camera BTW.
I agree 😎
The part that connect the sled to monitor
It was included in the sled packaging. It’s a 1/4-20 mount that replaces the L-bracket in the photos.
Is that a special NATO rail that you are mounting on to the handle of the camera? does it get secured with two points or just one screw?
Just one screw. Normal low profile NATO from smallrig
Damn that’s a nice rig man. What kind of lenses you use on that? Do you use cinema glass? So expensive lol thanks for the insight!

Dope rig man!
Thanks braddah!
Awesome setup!!! Are you outputting the menu settings to the Smallhd or running a clean SDI feed?
Since I’m not using the stock vf, I’m outputting the display onto the monitor.
I'd get the FX6 just for the built-in VND.
Built in ND of any sort is a lifesaver. The variable is nice for precision but I just wish it had a few more stops. C70 has 10 stops.
Where did you get the part at 5:55 that connect to the sled its not the same as the one that comes with it…
Nice rig, would you please help me find the parts you mentioned with a kit list ? Thanks
Ok I’ll do that in the future! Thanks for the request.
With the new A Cam, will your tripod support it or will you need to get a new tripod?
That is actually the reason for purchasing this new tripod head. It can support a much higher payload and has precise fluid movement.
You have no idea how entertaining this video is. Adult legos on steroids.
