    A styrofoam cup is a classic thing to put into a deep sea chamber, I’ve seen them get as small as a thimble

    Different fruits and vegetables that happen to have hard skins such as watermelons, pumpkins, coconuts, etc, would be pretty interesting to watch implode under pressure, especially curious about the coconut.

    I'm thinking the chicken would have won because they're given so much calcium at the chicken farms and their eggs are prolly stronger because of that. Just my theory tho.

    yeah, an ostrich egg might be kinda cool…. Thanks for doing these tests, fascinating stuff.

      Ratite eggs (ostrich, emu, kiwi, etc.) Do have very thick shells, so that would be an interesting comparison.

    Try a seringe with the end closed off. Would be nice to see it compressing and maybe compare the plastic vs glass.

  • @MichaelAChang
    @MichaelAChang 4 месяца назад +1

    It's not the differences in the strength of the shells, rather it's the percentage difference in dissolved gases within the eggs' fluid content and the size of the air sac.
    Get a plastic egg shell from a craft store and fill it completely with degassed oil and it won't fail at any pressure.

    Ostrich egg would be so cool to test with how thick the shell is, if you could fit it in of course.

    Logic says the thickest shell should go deeper. Let's see what happens... And I failed miserably, I thought it would be the turkey egg.

  • @OnTheRiver66
    @OnTheRiver66 5 месяцев назад

    I have heard that the older the hen that lays the egg the thicker the shell. That could affect the depth at which the egg fails.

  • @victoriaeads6126
    @victoriaeads6126 5 месяцев назад +1

    My guess prior to watching is that the quail egg will go deepest because I think it has a larger surface area to volume ratio. I have also hatched several types of eggs in incubators, and quail egg shells are surprisingly strong for their size, though not as thick as the shells of home grown chicken eggs or duck or peafowl eggs.

    • @victoriaeads6126
      @victoriaeads6126 5 месяцев назад

      Either that or the largest egg, having a thicker shell due to the necessity of being able to withstand the weight of a larger hen, will prevail.

      I tried to keep the elastic cord as loose as possible. I would say its negligible given the enormous loading just from the pressure alone.

    Eggcellent video..best one so far..definetly want to see an ostrich egg...would be interesting challange to see if you could coat an egg with something to get it to abyssal depth..maybe resin?....could be a video all alone...coat eggs in different substances to see which holds up best under pressure. Implosions today were dramatic.

    • @TheDropzoneChannel

      How about I wrap it in a carbon fiber?

    • @lonl123
      @lonl123 5 месяцев назад

      @@TheDropzoneChannel Oh, that would be sweet....as long as the glue you use can solidify and make an air tight seal, I bet you could get the egg to Abyssal (Maybe)…maybe different layers on each egg?...Not sure how much carbon fiber costs though.

    • @lonl123
      @lonl123 5 месяцев назад

      @@TheDropzoneChannel Oh, how about a CO2 cartridge in the drop tank? A small one...like the kind you use in Pellet guns...the are obviously waterproof and, they might implode quite dramatically...and you could see the effects of it being filled with CO2...I would be very interested to see that....also those CO2 cartridges are fairly cheap, and small enough that when they implode, shouldn't cause any damage or anything. Just a thought.....A toy Submarine coated to make it waterproof and pressurized to 1 atmosphere inside could be cool as well...but that might be a bit too much work.

    You should test a mini titan sub with plasticine figurines inside. Also a logitech gamepad.
    Is it respectful? No. Would it be entertaining? Definitely.
    end of the day they all signed their lives away, quite literally despite the many red flags like "I don't hire old men with experience, they're too boring and not innovative enough" stated publicly, the "building of" video which any billionaire could have hired a submersible engineer to simply watch that and give advice, they chose not to. May as well have gone skydiving with a parachute their grandma knitted because "it's cold at 10,000 feet and wool keeps you warm"
