Ooh, that photo showing a binder clip attached to the purse looks like my solution. Maybe a pretty carabiner instead of whatever they used to attach the binder clip to the purse ring.

Great idea! It had never occured to me to clip my hat until I saw the Lindsay Albanese clips. They use magnets to not damage straw hats, but there are a million other DIY solutions out there!
