- Coney spins the wheel for Wheelchamp and asks his community to send him some of the strangest video game advertisements known to man, and boy did he receive some weird ones. What were they thinking?! Why did Kirby swallow a boy? Why did Playstation make a creepypasta? Why is Ubisoft so messed up? Learn the past mistakes these marketing teams made when they thought it was a good idea to make these ads public!

I cannot explain why but Coney saying "Ubisoft was like 'bro what if, like, Rayman just, like, KEPT peeing'" had me in fucking stitches.
Really shocked that no one linked that Xbox commercial where the woman is giving birth and then the baby goes flying out of her like a canon breaking through the walls and soaring into the sky all the while the baby rapidly ages through all stages of life until he finally lands in his grave, dead.

As a member of the FGC, that trailer for Omnia was so spot-on that the only reason anyone would ever be mad at it would be if it called them out.

As someone outside the FGC what exactly was this so spot-on in calling out? To me it just seems like a bit of a play on shitty mobile ads/anime fighters
@@IanZWhite00 i dont remember much of the full ad and im too lazy to check but if i were to take a guess, people probably got upset at the ad for ripping on the homogenization of fighting games, especially anime fighters. Tho don’t quote me on that im probably way off
Honestly, Chocobo deserved to be the champ, purely because it was incredibly strange while also showing absolutely no gameplay, so someone who didn't know what Final Fantasy was would be confused, while Rayman 3 at least showed gameplay.
Idk, You have to respect the sheer confidence the Chocobo ad exudes. Especially with how insanely popular Final Fantasy was in Japan at the time, it's justified to a certain extent. There was no good reason to make multiple Rayman Pee ads.

I’m kinda sad that everyone always goes “OMG THE PS3 BABY IS SO WEIRD AND CREEPY” and never brings up that Sony did an entire ad campaign for the PS2 that was literally all just that kind of weird creepy insanity, including a few that-I kid you not-were directed by DAVID LYNCH.
I still think the sexual assault ad is the strangest. The strangeness goes beyond the ad. There were adults that all agreed that they should have a CHILD and an ADULT kiss while the CHILD grabs the woman's breast. How was that not Illegal?

Honestly Mario Mercedes GLA should have won imo. They put so much effort into such a silly campaign, and I think that deserves some respect.
I also love how relatively recent they were. Nintendo is so overly-protective of Mario’s brand these days seeing them green-light the kind of goofy ad you’d see in the 90s was really nice

Those ads are great but they aren’t really advertising a video game; they’re advertising the Mercedes GLA.

The anime fighting game's commentary reminded me a lot of when Alpharad did a video about making ads for a fighting game

I love how any time someone gets fucking owned Coney just shouts "DIE". I don't know why but his inflection is so good. Just as funny but in the other direction is when Toad went to the hospital and Coney just shouts with complete genuine heart, "PLEASE TAKE CARE OF HIM"
The ad that first came to mind for this is the yoshi ad where the guy explodes from eating too much spaghetti.

My favorite part of the Spongecake ad is it's for a G rated game. So the marketing team thought the best way to sell this game marketed towards children was to have a child say fuck.

Instant Rockstar's biggest mistake was being too early. It doesn't make good content to have 1 champ for almost the whole video, and eventually, people just wanted to see it lose.

It's a shame none of the Acclaim ad campaigns from the early 2000s were/could be included.
