It's not a must but a convenience. You can leave the original pull choke in place and use that but unlike four strokes, two strokes need the choke off as soon as it starts.
Thank you so much, my motor is the same as yours, but I will pull the choke out when I start, cause I dont have the choke solenoid, plus I dont know how to fix it.@@Pensionersdoaboat
I'll do what I can. These are the main components required, there's various sundries required like cables etc. If I did it again I woud use the next size down battery to starter cables. I went too large at 16mm sq, cable 10mm sq is fine. ebay items : Ignition switch - 703-82510-43-00 Ignition Switch for Yamaha Outboard Main Key Remote Control Box - sold by parserda Starter solenoid 12 V STARTER SOLENOID RELAY 6G1-81941-10 FOR YAMAHA OUTBOARD 6-90 HP - sold by king-auto-zone Starter mounting bracket - 61772-0194Aluminium Stay For Outboard Motor 25hp 61T 69P - sold by homedecorlover Amazon for starter motor : OEG Parts PPEU18310N Starter Compatible With Yamaha Mercury Mariner Replaces S108-80 S108-80A S108-80B S108-80BN 689-81800-11 689-81800-11-00 689-8180 Rob
