They’re so different yet the chemistry is on point
It’s god damn beautiful
Ah, humanity.
its like the cabybaras being friends with alligators.. opposites, yet besties
Damn you’re right. They need a buddy comedy
They match each others energy. It’s really cool
This whole interview was like did we just become best friends??
OMG EXACTLY! I said that outloud to myself watching that genuine hug. It takes a certain chemistry to engage in that fierce level of cutting one another off while still maintaining respect and genuinely listening. They were both just so excited to share and learn. Ugh so good! ✨
‼️‼️
LOL I got that vibe only a minute into this!!
I feel like after this they definitely became best friends
Yea, no. Keiran seems to think you can't have friends when you have a family
They graduated with a degree in YAPPER and I love it
imagine Glen Powell in that mix infinity yapp
High marks Yappanese
Theater kid core type shit
😂😂😂 I love this comment
they reminded me of me and my best girlfriend in highschool
Someone tell that moderator that ones like this are the best. They don't need to just talk about projects all the time. These are some special dudes just let them vibe out.
This one, the Daniel Craig Josh O’Connor and Harris Dickinson Drew Starkey ones have been the best so far imo for this exact reason
so true MB
The problem is that these interviews exist for them to get more people to see the movie they’re pushing for awards season
The moderator said on twitter that this was her favorite actor-on-actor yet so she definitely got it :)
Exactly
The chemistry and banter between these two is off the charts and now I want a movie with them as main stars.
Me too
Honestly, i wouldn't mind a revamped version of lethal weapon with them. Just the voice alone im getting a danny glover vibe with Colman
Or a podcast!!
I see the vision
Same asap!!
"anna nicole smith was a saggitarius" "no she wasn't, she was a person" i am in love with this friendship
I love how he takes no prisoners
THE FACT THEY BOTH ARE YAPPERS AND NO ONE INTERRUPTED EACH OTHER, WONDERFUL
Nah they both interrupted quite a bit. I almost stopped watching at the beginning bc Colman interrupted nonstop for the first ~10 minutes. Keiran did as well
@@gototherapy this is quite natural when 2 people yapp they tend to talk over each other it’s more of a conversation talk than an interview lol
@gototherapy dude thats normal when neurodivergent people or in general people who are comfortable with eachother are talking with eachother
@ that’s okay dude, we don’t have to agree on everything! That’s the beauty of free will, freedom to think and react differently. Also, I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for 20 years and interrupting will always be rude, “neurodivergent” or not. I value patience, listening and the quality of words people choose over their quantity. You may have different values. Which again, is totally okay as we don’t need to agree. Have a good night ☺️
I couldn’t survive!😂😂😂I would be so drained after 35 seconds!
They are such knowledge seekers! This is how I get to know ppl. Skip the small talk, tell me about the circus lol
The small talk was kinda epic too though - the opening bit with the bracelets & Virgin Air shopping had me hooked 😅
@ yes! But bc they are engaged and interested it doesn’t feel stale like small talk. They asked open ended and thought provoking questions and small talk consists mostly of close ended questions/answers. I love that! Tell me why you have a sleeve of bracelets 🤣
And we never even got to hear what Colman did in the circus lol they were moving topics that fast
@ lol they abandoned whatever they were told and just went with the flow bc I, too, wanted to know what acts he did 🤣
Basically a sagittarius talking to a libra 🤣
The way they never really interrupt one another but continue conversation is astonishing. They NEED to work together!
Sarah snook being Kieran Culkin’s sons godmother….. I didn’t know I was going to cry today.
The way he talks about her in every interview is so lovely
That's so wholesome. I miss that chaotic show 😭😭
He had me tearing up whe. He talked about the sadness he had realizing they may never be cast together again. 😢😢😢
@@thesmileyeffectI’m going to make sure that happens again by becoming a famous director and cast them in my movies.
Did that genuinely make you cry? No judgement; just curious.
No cap I've been watching the Actors on Actors series this whole week and this one is the BEST one of them all. 44 minutes passed by way too fast
what’s second best?
@@Fifabeast389 kate winslet and zoe saldaña, in my opinion
i LOVED josh o'connor and daniel craig, these two are tied for me
There are the best. And second are Craig and O'Connor. What saddens me (as a woman) is how stuck up and boring all women's interview this year. I couldn't finish any of them. They are just praising each other
Yes!! I need a podcast of these two immediately!
i feel like no matter who you put Kieran with, the conversation will never turn stale, he is unstoppable. it's like he wants to know everything he can possibly know about a person in 30 mins flat lmao.
I don't understand him, he seems like he would be annoying and maybe he is? but he's also just beyond loveable
@@user-gh5sd2nm5y they matched him well with Colman, who seems to have a very open mind and adaptable conversation style. if it were someone else with less confidence I'd worry Kieran would overwhelm them :')
@@filmblooms I also thought of Colman as very serious person. And he is! Thankfully not too serious for Kieran.
@@user-gh5sd2nm5y Colman can be an absolute clown and I mean that in the best way possible. Very intense actor with a great sense of humor
@@filmblooms he actually strikes me as a highly intelligent & opinionated guy who doesn’t suffer fools, & who would only gel with certain people he respects & who can handle him
This was the most unpretentious actor on actor that I have ever seen. I loved that for a long time they were truly more interested in each other than talking about their movies to the point where Colman had to remind Kieran to say the name of his film.
Seeing two grown men just have an adult conversation instead of trying to one up each other like 90% of the internet is so refreshing
do you feel like one upping each other happens on other episodes of actors on actors?
I feel like Coleman is one of those people who’s so prepared and takes his work seriously (complementary) that we don’t often get to see him joke as much. And Kieran is just completely disarming to him with the teasing. Obsessed.
"What time do you wake up in the morning?" "I don't" 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
colman interviews, keiran cross examines
Great observation
😂😂
i feel like colman would be a great counselor/therapist. very accepting and gentle energy
Yes, you can feel the journalist exploration come out of him. He really wants to know his subject
For sure. He has a very comforting vibe that could disarm more introverted/reserved people.
You should see the scene he did in Euphoria where he was essentially counseling Zendaya's character after she disowned her family and they both are sitting in the booth of this restaurant. They each fed off each other so well, his acting is phenomonal in that. He had this stern, tough love, no-nonsense attitude but at the same time there was also this undercurrent of compassion and gentle acceptance like you said. It is an emotional, very well written scene, you'd enjoy it.
This feels like when the popular preppy kid gets sat with the quiet kid in the back of class & they both end up being the exact same vibe
This is my Wicked
@@SolomonDanielaLOL real
THIS!!!
You nailed it! 👏🏾
I'm a few minutes in and this is the best actors on actors so far - Colman is sweet and charming & Kieran is chaotic and hilarious, but their conversation flows so well. Both will be nominated for Oscars in their respective categories.
How can you barely watch something then call it the best? That is simply illogical.
@@gaila.9852 He's saying the first few minutes alone are better than all the other episodes
@@RJRedtail Again, making such an assertion is illogical.
@@gaila.9852 Not every opinion has to be logical
@@RJRedtail That is absolutely not what I said or even implied.
I saw the clip about how Colman needs 2 hours of prep a day and Kieran wakes up at 5 am for a 5 am call time, without any other context on the two of them. Then I watched this whole thing, deeply connected with each of them and their styles and stories, heard Kieran talk about being a dad and having no time. And now listening to him talk about not prepping hit me like a ton of bricks. He's not doing it because he's lazy; he's doing it because he wants to spend as much time as possible being a dad. So much more beautiful and grounded than I expected.
That clip was what brought me to this interview too and I'm glad I watched the whole thing. They have fantastic chemistry together and I get the sense that neither one is BSing each other for the sake of the audience watching.
Culkin also makes the point that he intentionally didn't prep because he didn't feel the character needed it, and I think that's a worthwhile point and you see it in both performances. Culkin in A Real Pain is manic and unpredictable. You never know what he'll do, and you can tell he isn't really thinking about it. He's a character of action. Domingo in Sing Sing, on the other hand, is (as one of them put it) the anchor that brings together the Cassavetes-esque cast, both in the meta narrative and in the film itself. The other characters are all vibing, while Domingo's character takes his art very seriously. He has so much respect and love for his fellow prisoners, but doesn't see himself as one of them.
If you swapped the styles of performance, neither role would work.
You ever click on a youtube video with no intention of actually watching it, but immediately can’t stop watching it? That’s me right now. Right off the bat this is the best duo ever!
RUclips put it on after i finished hot ones because they know i'm a kieran stan and i watched the whole thing
“You moisturize?”
“I’m black”
I’m crying that’s so real 😂😂

@@savag3ry so real! I definitely cackled!
They talk over each other so much that you can’t tell when one ends and another continues 😂😂😂 but it’s done with such flair and smooth continuity that it’s entertaining
Right off the bat, you would think they've been friends since the dawn of time. But they're just recently acquainted?! Chemistry is a hell of a thing, y'all. ❤
Damn the way they filmed succession: on film, two cameras at most, no marks no coverage no rehearsals.. to be a fly on that set!
Along with Jeremy Strong's almost insane level of commitment and intensity, it had to have been quite interesting.
I did not anticipate saying this about an incredibly dignified 54yo & a kinda wild 42yo, both acclaimed actors, but this was so CUTE! They’re each so endearing & their hilarious contrasts make them even more so.
I have to admit I found Kieran a bit flippant & facetious in the roundtables, but THIS was a masterclass in non-judgment as they listened to each other’s radically different approaches to acting & life, striving to understand the other person’s point of view.
Hollywood is nuts because as much as I love Kieran I agree with him that being casted that way is ridiculous and is honestly why we keep seeing same 10 actors in same movies.
there is more to the story. i would listen to jesse's side of it. he's talked about it in interviews

Cast*
Sean baker hires people on the spot. Like you could literally be walking by him and if he liked your vibe he will hire you.
This is actually the opposite of the truth in my opinion. Big studios prefer to make "safe" casting decisions. They know that Ryan Reynolds and The Rock are a draw so they essentially copy-paste the same movies ad infinitum. What Jesse Eisenberg did was pretty inspired and demonstrative of true artistry. Kieran Culkin actually hasn't been the lead in a lot of big movies so I don't get why you think he exemplifies this issue you have with Hollywood. It's actually cool that the casting process was unconventional.
Everyone has been going crazy for the other actors on actors. I find this one the best and most interesting and insightful one out of the bunch.
Yeah easily one of the best this yeat.
Same. My fave so far.
Hands down my favorite one. Such an enjoyable conversation throughout.
I love how inquisitive Kieran is. And Colman is so present and detailed in his questions. It makes sense given how he was pursuing journalism as a career.
Not seeing enough praise for Coleman in sing sing. He is my Oscar winner
Agreed, I saw it in a theater a few months ago. I believe it’s getting a re-release so hopefully more people will see it. He is incredible as is the film.
He was considered a front runner before the season.
i wish i had access to it, need it on streaming now
haven’t seen it yet but already agree the man is a beast love him sm
Variety knew what they were doing with this one. An actor who had to discover his gift and really work for it Vs. an actor who was born into it and grew into his gift. I loved this interview.
How in the world is Colman over 50? What a breathtaking, youthful human.
Black don't crack lol 😆 he's right
He is gorgeous
43:03 I love how genuine that moment was and the hug at the end ❤ We need a film with them ASAP!!!
“You have a sparkle in your eye. You’re alive.” What a compliment!!
Kieran could have chemistry with an avocado. Not that Colman has the personality of an avocado, but I’ve never seen him be so light-hearted and fun in an interview. This was my favorite so far! Unpretentious and free-flowing.
Phenomenal pairing. Also, the way Colman's eyes went huuuge when Kieran described how they shot on film, without coverage, etc. during Succession 😳🤯
This could be the #1 podcast in the World 😭
I need 10 movies with this duo.
First time discovering Colman Domingo and I have to say what a classy guy. I'm glad he's on my radar now - can't want to go back and watch some of his work. Best part of the interview in my opion is the last 10 mins, where they drop into some deeper things.
Colman is incredible!!!!
he crushes in 'Euphoria'
I first saw him in Fear the Walking Dead, and after his first scene I had a feeling that he was gonna be the standout star
he’s one of the few standout things in fear the walking dead, like his acting is one of the few things that kept me watching after a while
3:04 LMAOOOOOOOO “ You know we maintain” 😭😭😭😭
This convo was written by Aaron Sorkin. The number of words said was 10x more than most people use 😂
41:21 Colman Domingo clocking the shade is soooo funny 😂
As a gemini, this is the kind of flow of conversation I like lol. It’s exuberant, witty and authentic. I love the convos here in general but this is a nice change of pace from the pensive, solemn deep soul artist spiel. Never knew Kieran was this entertaining! And Colman has such an aura of kingliness about him.
as a libra, this is my kinda conversation. in fact, it reminds me of convos with my sister (who's a gemini). and now knowing kieran is a libra and colman is a sag...it all makes sense! air + fire = magnetic chemistry.
Gemini here, and I wholeheartedly agree!
As a Gemini with a Libra moon and Libra rising, I love the pace of this conversation AND the deep interest
As a virgo I feel so seen in your Gemini and Libra views 😂
Okay, this is my favorite one so far. It felt like a genuine conversation between two people that happen to be actors and there just happened to be cameras rolling. Great chemistry here. I hope they do work together on a project in the future.
This was such a fast paced back and forth that I had to double check my playback speed to see if the setting was sped up 😭😭 they’re great
I never seen 2 actors having so much fun during a great conversation. Both are so talented, love their work.
This is the only episode I watched from beginning to end. They are both such fascinating and relatable people.
kieran seems like the best possible version of an extrovert to be around. yeah he yaps a lot but at the same time really engaging
i think they are opposites, but magnetic ones with 2 things very much in common: curiosity and openness. the chemistry is real!
This was the only pairing I was excited to watch. Turns out I knew what I was talking about. Big personalities, but not big egos.
I wouldn’t say everyone else had big egos they were just weird pairings. And I personally liked the reynolds and Garfield interview and find it unfortunate the internet hates reynolds all of a sudden.
Nahhhhhh, this was too good. This pair was just PERFECT. I felt like I was in the room with them. They both made me feel SEEN as a YAPPER and fast talker more than I have ever felt in my life. They are so different yet alike and they practically met in the middle about everything and respected each other’s differences so gracefully and with humor. 10 age gap, yet each commanded the other’s and were genuinely interested in knowing the other person and their craft. This pairing easily to my top 3 in VAOA. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 I would love to see them work together. This is was so beautiful to watch and wholesome.
The best thing about this Actor on Actor was the creative friction between them. It’s not just your usual “you’re so right” and “of course!” that rarely produces anything surprising or new. Instead they seem to trust and like one enough to openly disagree and spontaneously argue differing points of view, both interesting.
this is probably the best episodes i’ve watched. you can see that they really want to know the answer of the questions they’re asking. them working and living so differently make them see a different perspective and insight even tho they have the same job. they have amazing chemistry and respect even tho they didn’t know eo.
I feel like this is just a therapy session but both of them are giving each other therapy in a way in a way
putting them together was a GREAT idea.
They so different but somehow it works
To be able to shoot on a show like succession. Doing the thing all the way through, not worrying about marks and cameras is a true gift for the actor. It's no wonder why the performances are all so good.
These two can play a 90s detective movie as partners 😂
"You're a dangerous actor." Wow. These two were GREAT together! So likable. They need to do a movie together. A heist movie.
These two are hysterical together. They would be incredible scene partners.
37:31" oh you're like a person "😂😂😂
😂😂😂
They're doing this weird thing where they'll start talking over each other but I have no trouble following each of them, they're both being funny and it feels like they're both bouncing off of each other even though they're speaking the jokes they're making at the same time
Coleman and Kieran are two of the most incredible people singularly, but together?! Wow. This is one of my favorite Actors on Actors yet.
This "interview" is like two ppl becoming friends. I love their chemistry.
This is possibly my favorite interview ever
I love how YAPPY Kieran is 😂 and Coleman can keep up. Absolutely love Coleman. Jesse was wild just casting him at random, I think he could tell he could keep up with his yapping. Kieran was so correct about taking a shower at night to get into your clean bed, makes more sense that way. They are like yin and yang but both hilarious.
As someone who really enjoys Colman’s body of work I loved seeing this interaction. Kieran and Colman are so different but are both equally interested and engaged with each other. They both made me laugh a lot during their conversation and were so thoughtful!! Special conversation here ✨
How have they not been friends their whole life!! Someone please make a movie with these guys!! It just needs to happen. What chemistry! What beautiful fascination with each others little tics
Insane chemistry
I love the dynamic between them! They should have a podcast together cause it’s so interesting to hear 2 completely different points of view of things. I mean, they are opposites but… the chemistry and the respect for each other is just there!
This feels to me one of the most authentic A on A videos I have ever seen. It was so natural and they carry together such chemistry. It works so much more. I love the other A on A videos. I just feel like this one flowed so naturally in a way I don't feel like the others had. It's like watching two aquaintances becoming friends and I didn't want it to stop. I hope more actors will be comfortable enough to let the conversation flow in this way. It is just so much more enjoyable to watch.
they are my favorite actors on actors, it was an unexpected duo and they r so different from one another but they found things they could relate to from the other, and even if they didn’t relate to other things, they still accepted the other, tried to understand and didn’t judge. wow colman and kieran yall are awesome
Who ever came up with booking these two together deserves a raise
I came for Coleman who I greatly admire, let’s face it the fashion alone is worth my time but Kieran Culkan was an absolute revaluation. He was so engaged and authentic that I couldn’t help but hang on his every word. A great pairing of ying and yang.
I love how much Keiran loves being a dad. I can totally relate to him.
I like that in the end they just said “i like you man” 🤣🤣 well yea we can all tell you guys would make the best of friends. What a perfect duo
I feel like Kieran would have chemistry with anyone and would be a really fun person to talk to
THANK YOUUUUU KIERAN YOU WILL WIN THAT OSCAR
“Anna Nicole Smith was a Sagittarius.”
“No she wasn’t. She was just a person.”
So you’re telling me this dialogue was completely organic and wasn’t written by Cord Jefferson or some other Emmy/Oscar winner?
A real conversation between actual engaging and charismatic men. How refreshing!
this is so cute. one of the best actors on actors mostly because it's so loose and chill and insightful
i love how authentic they both seem!! what a great pairing!
42:32 - my favorite moment. The way Colman cracks up is so good xD
Also 4:04 - "no she wasnt, she was a person" xD
Variety, you did it. This is the best episode ever.
Kieran is a great conversationalist. He immediately draws you in, and he genuinely wants to get to know people. I could watch these two talk for hours. I love them both. ❤️❤️❤️
I don’t like actors fake praising each other so I was not expecting to like this. I LOVE how real this Kulkin dude is! Refreshing! And had me busting up🤣🤣 36:00
This was the most authentic, chaotic and hilarious conversation! You can feel their chemistry and genuine interest in what they each have to say.
Hands down my favorite Actors on Actors so far.
My red flag is if these two made a podcast i would make it my life’s mission to listen to every single episode without fail
Yep. Hands down the best pairing yet! They are SO GREAT together. Truly enjoyed every last second of this conversation. I’ll never be as impressed by another show as much as I was impressed by succession. I’d listen to the cast members talk about it all day long. Especially Kieran!
This has easily been the most interesting convo from a pure listener POV
This is the first time I've ever seen either of them and I saw this on Twitter and had to run here because the chemistry is unreal and I have to see the whole thing.... please make a movie together immediately
The storyteller bit with Domingo's face suddenly shifting to "oh shit" and his heavy breathing while trying to hold it in and not burst out laughing made my week.
I love the different approaches. How Coleman is this great researcher with a huge love for his craft and characters. He’s a joy and sometimes hard to watch (I mean this with the highest praise.)
Kieran just trying to survive fatherhood while loving it and still enjoying getting typecast as AuHD is wonderful too. 😂
They're like exact opposites yet they fit perfectly in conversation with each other
THIS INJECTED SO MUCH ENERGY INTO ME THANK YOU. CHARISMA LEVELS ARE THROUGH THE ROOF HERE
I watched the whole thing while stirring my coffee, haven't moved. Had me laughing, awwing, in my feels. I felt like we were at a coffee shop chilling....
I need the full uncut version, give me 4 hours of these two yapping and falling in love platonically
Their chemistry was really great. It was just so natural how they interacted and caught the little nuances. I hope they do get to work together.
I could listen to them have conversation all day. Colman's voice is so calming. I hope they work together in the future, even if it were a podcast.🤣
This was great, like seeing two very different people becoming friends in real time ^^
I love that Sarah Snook is Kieran's favorite scene partner ❤❤❤
