I spent a good part of my childhood and young adulthood in the Sonoran Desert and West Texas. People think these areas are desolate. They are full of life and extraordinarily beautiful. After it rains the desert is incredible…photographs and videos are wonderful but don’t do it the same justice as being there! We’d intended to move back to the Sonoran area when we retired, but life in the form of my serious disability interfered. I’ve been lucky enough to see many parts of the US and the deserts of the Southwest is where I most feel that I’m home. May my spirit eventually find its way back!

I’m from Odessa Tx. My father was born in Presidio Tx. He used to take me and my siblings to Big Bend and all around Alpine Tx. and that area when we were young. It was Heaven on earth. ✌️
Years ago I joined the Horned Lizard Watch, to report on findings. Being in the Metromess, I haven't seen them since childhood. Enjoyed the west Texas views, thanks.

For someone claiming to be afraid spiders, he sure seemed fine holding that spider. If I was told to grab a spider for my job, I'd be in the unemployment line

When I was a kid living outside is San Antonio horned toads were everywhere…thanks to humans they are endangered. Really saddens me. People always think the desert in empty…it’s so full of life and so beautiful.
Building a pipeline from East Tx. to west Tx., piping/filtered flood waters from eastern lakes could help provide more irrigation for farming and wildlife conservation.
My friend's ranch in Laredo is full of peyote. It's everywhere. He gets paid a good bit of money from the government to let indians come on his property to harvest them. Our tax dollars at work.

You ever watch this when you’re really blasted?
And if you live in the desert below high mountains you can go from desert to alpine ecologies in less than an hour.
I must say Texas is so much better than cali or neveda desert
