The Lane Assist Feature is designed to help relieve the driver's steering on a well-developed stretch of highway. When the vehicle approaches a turn, and the driver turns the steering wheel, the Lane Assist feature is de-activated. The feature is not a self drive system and it's not suited for curvy roads. my uncle works in the car industry and hes telling me within the next ten years most new cars will have a "highway drive mode". When you enter a highway you press a button and with the aid of sensors that will be installed on most major highways and with the systems in the car, it will auto set the cruse control to the speed limit and the cars will steer themselves, he's saying it will be so good that you can literally take your hands/feet of everything and eat breakfast while on the highway.
I can see all this automated stuff being good for, tired drivers, driving in heavy fog, rain, snow, relieving some of the effort for long straight hauls etc. If all those cars in that 95 pileup last year had sensors that would tell them there was an obstruction ahead or something it might not have been the multi hundred car pileup that it was. 5 miles notice would have been more than enough time to slow to a stop and pull over till the fog cleared.
because there is a huge difference between say watching the road like you should, and just not having your feet on the petals. and if you are driving a long distance usually traffic is quite empty and of you dont see a car then thats not good
So the 2013 Prius is supposed to have the LKA button on the left side of the steering wheel, but it's not there. Neither is the "vehicle to vehicle distance" button which is supposed to be directly above it. Does that mean that the car for whatever reason doesn't have the functionality, or that I don't have a way to control it? I'm OK with not having the feature, but I would not be OK with not having control over it. With my old car, I'd drift over the line when no other car was present to avoid pot holes or animals, and on some roads with insufficient friction where I have two lanes to drive I'd create distance with the other cars to safely shift between the lanes on a sharp to increase my control and decrease the risk of an accident. While I can certainly see a potential use for these features, I think that as a whole anyone who keeps them on is going to decrease their ability to respond to real world conditions. It didn't surprise me to learn that according to a review of all cars those with this feature had more accidents than those without.
MY LKA and collision control buttons are on the lower left panel of my Prius V near your left knee I don't have the heads up display or parking assist mine is a 2015 V 5
That computer package would have been the size of the car twenty years ago and probably not fast enough to handle the processing load. I love all this new stuff but god be sure you buy the electronics coverage because repairs will be more than the car is worth.
because this system was made for people who need to drive long distances for long periods of time. if you ask that then you might as well ask why not just keep you foot on the pedal instead of cruise control.
How about too tired to keep the steering wheel straight might save a life or two. Then there's also the ones that have a medical emergency behind the wheel so what's next a built in EEG/EKG so the car knows if you're stroking or having a heart attack?
well couldnt you also argue that you foot should be left on the pedal then? for safety reasons? thats kind of a side argument, so anyway im thinking they made this to help those dozing drivers that go for the long hauls
This has something to do with air pressure and Google' plays apps they have. They are hiding. I know where they at. I have to get better service keeps cutting out. They are having a field day with this connection I have. Enjoy it why u can
@WFallsToyota how so? people that are too lazy to even keep the damn steering wheel straight shouldnt be driving. this only encourages unattentive drivers. hell, you dont even have to be at the wheel to drive the damn thing on the interstate.
Because foreign cars are made in countries where English is not the official language and it costs too much to have a real English speaker edit and correct your grammar, punctuation and spelling errors--thus no manuals. I'd rather watch a youtube anyway.
I can't believe this was a thing in 2010! It's only just recently become standard on many cars

tht seem cool but i wonder if that will help u on the freeway with traffic or prevent accidental lane changes.
Does this system work, when sharp turns are on the road ? Is it will keep you in center of the lane when there are sharp curves on road ?
112 mph!!! That's real fuel efficient.

My car already veered off the road. How can this help me now?
LOL, didn't notice that until you pointed it out. LMAO.

can you give me a wiring diagram?
cool thx. i was if toyota was going to reply back i guess that will work.
Nope, cuz if traffic suddenly stops, the cruise control can't brake effectively enough to stop the vehicle.

alot of old people need this to keep them off the sidewalk.
I think that the only option is missing is the "fly option"
That needs lots of scripting
No one in Florida will buy one they like hitting garbage cans and motorcycles too much down here.
LOL,Red Car is 2nd Gen(Old) Prius.
Because the computer works faster especially if you're 90 and too busy farting and adjusting your diaper to drive.
