many t.A.T.u songs have two versions - Russian and English. And in the Russian versions, absolutely amazing, very catchy and deep lyrics. It is simply impossible to translate it correctly into English so that the verses also fit into the rhythm and music. So the English versions are always adaptations that have the same message, but the lyrics are of course simplified, although they are also quite good.
Also, notice in the video, the lantern is on the side where the people are at which suggests that the people are the ones trapped in the cage, not the girl. Like a metaphor that the people are trapped in their own ignorance.

This reaction is a perfect example of what a great human being you are. I wish there's more ppl in the World who truly understand the importance of diversity, of accepting and valuing all the beautiful shades we each represent. Whether it's about race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation... or even music. So much hate has been written about some musicians for no reason. I never understood why some fans think trashing one artist will make the other look good??? No logic. Just like these girls, I can't even imagine the backlash they received, not only in Russia but WW, for having guts to put their faces for all the faceless and voiceless lgbt stories... We should all learn to appreciate diversity and the beauty it brings. So to end this novel, really sorry, wasn't planning on writing this much, but seeing Lee's inspirational reaction just made me very happy. Thanks again 🤗😍😘❤️
Aw thanks Helena, I appreciate your kind words! Glad you enjoyed my reaction 😊
You don't know the real history of this group. This is a completely producer's project, which was treated quite normally in Russia itself, realizing that it was just a provocation. But negative comments about the group began when the girls admitted at a press conference in the United States that they were straight. For which they began to be called liars.
but lgbt community trashed them because they weren't lesbians, that diversity argument doesn't work because those same ''diverse'' people insulted them just for their sexual orientation and then they get offended when someone makes fun of their collective, the hypocrisy at his finest
@@ezelegui7901 So what you're saying is, t.A.T.u was pretending to be part of the LGBT community? That they were frauds? In Russian Ta means this girl, and tu mean that girl (in the form of an object, as in some action is done to that girl), therefore this girl "loves" that girl.
Loved this song! Haven't seen this for years! You pretty much nailed the theme and meaning from it. T.A.T.u (tattoo) is a shortened version of a Russion phrase which means "This girl loves that girl" and it caused controversy because of it depicting young lesbian love. Many UK and International stations banned it from radios etc, and UK TV banned the video. Russia is very anti-LGBTQIA+ even now so it was a huge deal for Russia back then as well, but particularly because it focused on younger people.
I agree with you, but I'm from Russia and I'm 22 years old and I can say that government and old generation are homophobic, but a lot of young people (to 30 years) are tolerant there, especially in big cities. And we're trying to change. I hope next generation will change this situation
It seems like Russia has gone in the opposite direction by creating anti gay laws in the last 10 years, just to appease to religious clowns. Same with Turkey. Sad to see.
I was a big fan. First album had a lot of good songs on it. I wish they would have lasted longer, in the u.s. But, unfortunately, I think their gimmick overshadowed the music, eventually. Which is a shame bc of how talented they were and bc of an important message of acceptance that they were trying to get out there. Whether they were really lesbians or bisexual or whatever was irrelevant.
Your 2nd explanation had me teary eyed, because you’re spot on. And if only this could have been people’s reaction 20 years ago when it came out. Because as someone struggling with my sexuality when this song came out when i was in 8th grade. It all made sense and was able to put into words what i was feeling. Although there was still so much shame, it still took me 3 more years to come out after❤️
Excellent reaction to a wonderful song and truly awesome music video! I will only add something that probably all of old t.A.T.u. fans already know, but I didn't see anyone actually mentioning it in the comments-the original, Russian version of the song had different instrumental (with more disco sound), so they had to rework it and to give it that beautiful, explosive pop/rock sound, which is so catchy...That was done by none other than TREVOR HORN, living legend of europop music. Not only that, he wrote completely NEW lyrics (it's not literal translation from Russian), he gave the song new title (which he borrowed, so to speak, from the band Simple Minds-yes, there is another song with this same title!), but he did much, much more than that-he also coached the girls how to sing in English, so the accent is mostly not heard, he was also their co-producer for their English album...By the way, he really liked working with these girls, he was pleasantly surprised when he heard them playing the piano. t.A.T.u. is the most successful musical project that has ever come out of Russia. And they had the opportunity to work with some other great names in the music industry-for example, Sting wrote the guitar part for their song Friend or Foe. Believe it or not, even Rammstein wanted to record a song with them-their song Moskau has feminine vocals, but in the end they didn't do it, I don't know why...
I grew up with a friend of the family who is gay. So I've never really understood homophobia. To me if males and males liked each other Or girls and girls it never entered my head that other people thought this was wrong. It wasn't until I'd grown up and saw people being judgmental and homophobic that I even knew such a thing existed. I am well into my 40s now and I have a teenage son. But a while back when he was about 10 or 11 I was telling him that my first house that I lived in I was sharing it with 2 other lads. And his reply was "so were you gay when you were younger? That's so cool if you were... ". But he too, as been brought up with gay family friends...

The early years of t.A.T.u. I was convinced that they were actually lesbians but I thought it was kinda weird that they were focusing on that since they were portraying 14 year old girls. I find out later in years that it was all an act and that they were both 18-ish in those early years and Lena was straight while Yulia was bi. Although they were always in support of the lgbt community. I heard that the lgbt community was furious when Yulia got pregnant. The gimmick was dropped and they’re now just a duo. Since Yulia lost her voice, she’s kinda been having somewhat of a hard time singing since she’s unable to hit the high notes anymore. Since they recently got back together, I wonder if they’ll release any new albums.
It's 2024 now, the clip is more than 20 years old. Nothing has changed in Russia, where this clip comes from. It seems that this group has helped the American-European countries more than us. It's gotten a lot worse for us.
The LGBT community felt really represented by these two and both of them played with the idea of being a real couple but sadly it was all marketing. The funny and sad side of the group is that the girl with short hair is now against gay marriage. The song was a global hit. Their USA debut at the VMAs was iconic. The stage full of girls in school uniform kissing and throwing their skirts to the audience.
T.A.T.u. in Russian means this girl loves that girl and this never played in the gay clubs in Belfast. As much as I requested it. Everyone knows it as wwe Victoria’s theme
In Europe they did not want to release them to Eurovision. They were afraid that they would kiss on stage. Russia in the 2000s was progressive. But something went wrong...
The funny thing here is that you all guys abviously didn't read enough about this group. They were actually pretending to be lesbians (even doing the real kissing on the scene) in order to sell their music
I've made a research about this band and itt turned out that they are actually bi. Precisely Yulia (black haired) in one of the interview she said that she had a relationship with another girl for a half a year and Lena (redhead) said "I’ve never been interested in girls, but i did when i was with Yulia, so that was not fake "
its crazy to think how many missed on there soul mates because of the stigma back then , once you connect regarless of sex its a PURE CONNECTION cant even explain it. it sucks so many must have felt something but couldnt act on it and could of been SO HAPPY with there Soul mate
@@infin8reactionsit wasn't a role. They may not be lesbians, but they still loved each other. All of their lyrics make that clear. Summarizing their music: "We love each other, but people just want to judge us/label us. They don't understand us."

There’s an amazing cover by Violet Orlandi of this song, its feels fresh and more rock or metal and its amazing, im sure would enjoy it
T.A.T.u. in Russian means this girl loves that girl and this never played in the gay clubs in Belfast. As much as I requested it. Everyone knows it as wwe Victoria’s theme
Growing up gay as a teenager this song really helped me.
Just hinting about there being a song with Rammstein ft Tatu called Moskau😎
Nice reaction, looked at the viseo(whatched it 100 times) from a different prospective
Excelente reacción 🤠🤠
Thank you!!
I have like 3 friends like short haired, I like Red haired.
In Europe they did not want to release them to Eurovision. They were afraid that they would kiss on stage. Russia in the 2000s was progressive. But something went wrong...
2:36 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 your voice like a death metal singer!
Yup 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Merci❤!
Please t.A.T.u. - Not Gonna Get Us, All About Us
All About Us is everything! I first heard it on someone's Myspace! Really showing my age! haha
In the end of the video I realized that the people staring at them were the ones locked behind the fence
I don't believe You have never heard it before! 😆
I don't believe you know me on a personal level.... 🤷
Maybe you have trust issues....
If you can react to their MTV Movie Awards 2003 that was be great.
You should react to cover version of this song by Violet Orlandi ft. Halocene🤘🏻
I have always felt this song has a double-meaning under many years back! And I don’t mean the lesbian thing :p
First song to ever question my sexuality, thank you Tatu x
Always go with how you feel 😁
You gotta figure in the fact that this is late 90’s Russia, where things were completely different than 2023 western culture
The funny thing here is that you all guys abviously didn't read enough about this group. They were actually pretending to be lesbians (even doing the real kissing on the scene) in order to sell their music
I've made a research about this band and itt turned out that they are actually bi. Precisely Yulia (black haired) in one of the interview she said that she had a relationship with another girl for a half a year and Lena (redhead) said "I’ve never been interested in girls, but i did when i was with Yulia, so that was not fake "
tatu best pop group on 00 years/ chek tatu white robe
Its funny how my name is in russians ladies band lol
its crazy to think how many missed on there soul mates because of the stigma back then , once you connect regarless of sex its a PURE CONNECTION cant even explain it. it sucks so many must have felt something but couldnt act on it and could of been SO HAPPY with there Soul mate
Not gonna get us, another track by them, better i think.
The song message is good, except they are NOT lesbians. It was just a role they played!
Cool!! Thanks for the facts mate, and for watching 😁👌
@@infin8reactionsit wasn't a role. They may not be lesbians, but they still loved each other. All of their lyrics make that clear. Summarizing their music: "We love each other, but people just want to judge us/label us. They don't understand us."
@@lotuseyedstudiosive checked their interviews and dialoge recordings and both of them are actually bi. Yulia (black haired) even had a releatuonship with a another girlfriend for half a year. And Lena (redhead) said in one of the interviews "I’ve never been interested in girls, but i did when i was with Yulia, so that was not fake "
t.A.T.u in Russian means this girl loves that girl.
The song is decent I never cared or will care what entertainers do in there personal live I dont care what anyone chooses to do but where I draw the line is force people to accept your life style
Facts mate
if you look at the position of the lanterns, it becomes clear that people were behind bars, and the girls are free, because in the end they quietly went to the horizon
Rus:
LIVERPOOL GOAAAAAAAAT
Tatu from Russia, in Russia the biggest LGBT community was on stage in Russia.....but only western propaganda speak about The rights of the LGBT movement😅
Plus, they let them sing on Olimpics 2014
it is about beeing gay in russia it whas a statemend against the state of russia they even run for there live after this song
Back then, they still were doing it to confront Poutine.
It’s not true. In 00s poutine loved them. And he sent them to euro vision .
2000 data !
I really like you 💕 You say we're and I believe that you think this sht is the past but I'm an American who has told my friend to just leave and not confront bigotry at the gas station in North Idaho so she doesn't get shot! I'm not being dramatic. It's scary to be loud and proud in a place where 5 year olds can get a gun license.
Thanks Ashley 😊 and yeah if there's going to be guns involved then there's no point getting yourself hurt or worse in that situation
Released until December 2000 Sorry
Can you please do more t.a.t.u. Reactions? ❤
Tantas generaciones millenials salimos del closet gracias a T.a.T.u 🫶🏻
this is from 2002
Sadly they were underage when MV was made😬
ENG MV was made from original Russian version
Despite the video the girls are not acually lesbians
Funny thing that it turned out that they were (probably is) bi. Yulia (with black hair) said that she had a relationship with another girl for some time. And Lena (Redhead) said that she's not lesbian but when she was with Yulia, "she liked girls and it wasn't fake".
They were?
You're correct. Red head was by, not full. They argued and band split. Red wanted a man.
It's more mellow hardcore.
So mach wards, but wery minimum reactions
20 yeas ago Russia was top1 in lgbt theme, now we are top1 at the end
i liked the song a long time ago but i didn't see the video clip or who made it i was just chillin' with it, till now it appears that they're Lesbians f this mate
Please don't be racist. or English. Listen.
