Yes, Igor Herbut's voice is hauntingly beautiful and incredibly emotive. I highly recommend both his solo works and his band's music as well! His voice and singing style are truly unique and nuanced. Sanah's sweet vocals have already garnered her significant popularity, even in your country. The song is heart-wrenching, and you are correct in noting that the Polish language perfectly conveys suffering and sadness.

German is "chop, chop, chop" XD. That's a great way to put it. Yes, I agree. German is very "ordered" both in structure and in sound. English is also to some extent, being a Germanic language, but of course, it has a softer sound.
Slavic languages are very "free" in that sense. They don't have a strongly imposed structure, and the accent also depends on the speaker. Sometimes they can sound very bland when someone doesn't put much emotion into it, and sometimes those emotions are strongly emphasized.
The proceeds from the song were donated to help children in Ukraine.

Yes you are right; Polish, Russian and Ukrainian are related, Slavic languages. However, the Ukrainian language is a mixed language, created from Russian, Belarusian, Polish, Jewish and other many nations. Your reflections are becoming more and more mature. This song is really moving, it's hard to listen without having tears in the eyes (and it's not only about the current war in the Ukraine, but about all the earlier wars, experienced by us, as well). But I like both of them, so Sanah and Igor Herbut, not only with this one song. They are really good. For instance, Sanah had very good songs with lyrics based on the most famous Polish poems, of our national poets. I liked her song "Nic dwa razy się nie zdarza" ("Nothing happens twice", with lyrics being the poem of Wisława Szymborska, the Noblist). There were also, at this album of Sanah, songs with lyrics being the poems of Juliusz Słowacki ("Hymn"), Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Adam Mickiewicz, Julian Tuwim and others.
I don't care what anybody says. Sanah's approach to "Hymn" still gives me chills. I absolutely love it. Generally, she really grew in my eyes after listening to her singing the Polish poets.

It is POLISH, NOT UKRAINIAN language. Polish is not similar to ukrainian or russian or any other slavic language. Ukrainian however is similar to russian.

It's polish language and song lyrics was wroten in Poland during the II World War - but is so universal that was used for description situation Ukrainian people during Russian war
The lyrics were written by Sanah and Igor - neither of them lived during WW2. The music was partly borrowed from the 19th century Moniuszko's "Prząśniczka".

Ja bardzo lubię polską muzykę, ale raczej te starsze utwory bo nowe pokolenie jak Roskana Węgiel czy Wiki to dla mnie dziadostwo, a nie muzyka. Piosenki Perfectu, Dżemu, Percival, Myslovitz są nie do przebicia. Piosenki ludowe lubię w wykonaniu zespołu Guzowianki lub Krywań.
