I like the way you are switching up the colors on Yellow Submarine. I’m using all the called for on mine.
I got In the Forest too! So many beautiful patterns. When I used to make paper working copies, I didn’t mash the spine down. I put left side of the book facedown on the copier and made one page. The flip the book upside down and copy the other page. You’ll have two pages that you can tape together. I use this same method now, only I scan to a PDF, rotate the upside down page in Adobe and import the PDF into Goodnotes on my iPad. I’m starting with the Boreal Forest pattern. It will be my start next week when I’m vacationing in the Adirondacks. I’ll be on the woods and stitching the woods!

Hi Laura. I've had one quilting book that I took to Staples to get spiral bound. Great in theory, but the person who did mine was a trainee, and didn't turn out well. But I know several people who have had it done with no issues. I've ordered the Pigeon Coop book as well. Love your stitching. Look forward to your videos every Friday night. Debby was a real bear as she tore through North Carolina. Harvest

Helen D did a working copy of at least 3 patterns from the forest book and commented that the spine didn’t break. I only know of knitters who had gone to get their books made into spiral spine and I don’t remember how much of a margin they said they needed. I suspect you can ask the staff at the store. Does Pattern Keeper accept an entire book if you get the digital version? I was considering buying the digital. Your stitching was fun to see this week even if it involved too much frogging for your taste. Have a great weekend

Hi Laura, I had hip surgery the end of November. Had to do therapy exercises and like you and would forget to stop stitching for them. I solved my problem by purchasing a timer and setting for an hour. If my stitching was not at a good stopping point, just keep setting the timer for 5 more minutes. It worked great for me and am happy to say everything turned out great. Maybe a timer will work for you. Good luck.

Spiral binding is probably the way to go for that book. I don’t have it, so I can’t tell you if I think there’s enough room, but I’ve had all of Emma Congdon’s books spiral bound and didn’t lose any parts of any patterns; there was even some white space left before the punch for the binding to go through. So have a look at your Emma Congdon book and compare the spacing to the Max Pigeon one. Staples did all of mine. It wasn’t too expensive and made the books far more usable.
Also, I listened to the last two hours of 56 Days last night. My plan was to listen to half an hour, and the next thing I knew, the book was finished. Thanks for recommending it! I’d be happy to discuss if you still want to, and I’m curious to know what your book club members thought.

Hi Laura! You can absolutely spiral bind at on office supply store but they require you to bring the pages loose and trimmed straight beforehand. They don’t do that part for you. It’s simple to cut them with a craft knife. And speaking from experience, don’t use UPS. They do have that service but they’ve done a TERRIBLE job on previous work for me.

I had my Emma Congdon books spiral bound at a Staples office supply store in Canada, and they did the slice of the spine for me, before adding the spiral. So each business has different rules.
