Personally I think you’re focusing too much on the idea of replacing your laptop with this iPad! Tbh I don’t think Apple wants you to replace you MacBook with the iPad unless they want to cannibalise their whole MacBook line! This is why the iPad Pro run iOS and not Mac OS! Apple would much rather you buy the iPad as a complimentary device to your MacBook!
Realistically, Apple doesn’t ‘want’ us to replace our laptop since it’s gonna cannibalize MacBook sales. That being said, the reason why people focus on the idea of replacing laptops is because Apple markets the iPad Pro as such. Remember the cheesy “What’s a computer?” iPad Pro commercial?
Yea I agree. I think it’s largely down to it being high end laptop money. For me it’s still a couch computer and I mean that in a good way. I’d love this kind of power away from my desktop.
@@nic_ccc3366 it's not about marketing, most of us are cute enough to ignore that and use our own intelligence and common sense to make our own conclusions. Apple, for fairly obvious reasons don't want the iPad to replace this MacBook line, that would be dumb from a financial perspective. It's a companion device and reviewers know that reviewing as just that means they cannot criticize as much. By making an iPad v laptop war they get more views and likes as Windows fans can troll these reviews. I think anyone with insight can see the iPad as for what it is, a tablet and as such it is the King and miles ahead of the competition. So as a companion to your laptop it is the most sensible option.
Not really, considering how Apple deliberately pushing people think of it as a desktop replacement. He was right and very to the point in that sense actually: One word, it's still "iPad'"
Good to see a tech review talk about the feel of the pencil when using on glass from an artist point of view. Wish more tech reviewers would actually talk about that. And yes I know Paper Like is a sponsor.
@@jamief06 I think most of the tech reviews don't really rely on the Pencil like an artist would, so it's easy for them to gloss over it. It's a different perspective when Artist RUclips channels review the Pencil/iPad Pro, they always mention it.
My iPad definitely can't replace my computer but there is also no computer that can replace my iPad. One important way I use my iPad is as a sheet music reader. I need a tablet that is around the size of a sheet of paper and can take high quality pictures to scan sheet music. I also want to use it as just a touch interface with no keyboard and I want Bluetooth 5.0 for the lowest latency when playing music. Having a great Pencil is a plus so I can mark up sheet music in ForScore. For my needs, nothing is better than the new 12.9 iPad Pro. I tried the Surface Pro and other 2 in 1s but they have worse cameras, are too skinny in portrait mode, have worse looking screens, and are not nearly as well optimized for touch inputs only.
For use with high end headphones, the usb c output now enables easy connection to an external DAC like a Chord Mojo or Hugo2. Even with a headphone socket most high end headphones would be under-powered.
Been using iPad from the start. Each iteration means I’m less reliant on my pc. Since the pro 10.5 there are a lot of things that are easier/ more convenient on the iPad and a few it actually does better. Now I only really game on my pc and watch large screen movies and edit bigger video projects occasionally. I really wish LumaFusion had stabilizer as that’s the thing that keeps dragging my back to the Pc at the moment. File support would be golden but there’s always a work around. 9 times out of ten the convenience of the iPad wins as a portable device for me, but ultimately I couldn’t give up the pc altogether at the moment. Hopefully iOS 13 is the game changer we deserve. Keep up the good work. Peace ✌️
I have an 10.5" iPad Pro and when I went into the store to play with the new iPad Pro, I honestly wasn't really that blown away. The screen wasn't all that impressive coming from my 10.5" and while I agree that I didn't have a chance to test out the real under-the-hood performance changes, I just can't find a reason to upgrade. It definitely could not replace my computer, though!
FYI - Most tech channels have not mentioned the dock glitch on the iPad which I discovered this in iOS 11. The dock is Snow White with no transparency. If you toggle on and off the "reduce transparency" option in settings, it will fix the transparency issue on the dock making it look more like the dock on the iPhone. It will stay like that until a restart or update. I love the new 12.9" iPad Pro. Best upgrade.
Until the ipad pro supports desktop browsers / apps and a proper file management system it won't be replacing no desktop / laptop. Ios is really holding this beastly device back.
Thank you! I bought a 12.9 2018 after using an iPad 3 for so long I can’t remember when I bought it. Performance and the “Liquid Retina” display are awesome but .. not having a head-phone jack sucks. The Beats Studio 3 I bought are too heavy and totally under-whelming. Oh .. it’s expensive especially when you configure it with 512 GB and pay 10% sales tax. I’m giving it 👍🏼(one).

Especially for me.I use this iPad for notes in university. For iOS development I had to buy a MB as well. Non the less I don’t regret buying the new pro. The performance and the display is just mind blowing.
I think that Apple has priced the iPad too high. If they added mouse support it could be a laptop replacement for me but until then I use it for email, news, and entertainment. My current IPad Pro is perfectly suited for what I use it for and it cost a lot less. I do like the design however and it seems like it would be worth it to creative professionals.
Question... is the 1TB version with 6GB of RAM, does that RAM do much for performance, or is it more or less for the massive 1TB storage inside a tiny 5.9 mm Chassis?

peptoman2222 you won’t go wrong with a 10.5” Pro. At all. I have one (using it to type this) and it’s amazing! I *will not* be upgrading to the 2018 model!
Best iPad pro review video, I can get all details I want to know about this device. People are always trying to find out something that iPad cannot do comparing to a macbook but rarely look at the opposite.
What annoys me about a lot of these reviews is that the reviewer acts like everyone is an artist, you tuber or graphic designer and then criticises the iPad. - Good video and review pal :)
Hi, have you ever experienced a non-responsive screen on iPad Pro? I got my iPad Pro 12.9” about 2 months ago and I frequently get a non-responsive screen. It is so frequent that it is getting very annoying that I don’t expect a $1xxx hardware should have these issues.
Like several others I too would like to know, do you actually have a specific alternative iPad Pro Keyboard to recommend? The link to Amazon shows a variety of keyboards available. It would be nice to hear about a recommended one as we are ordering online and will have had no choice to testing them out first.
Can’t hold video on Zoom if you leave the app during a call. The audio works but the video can’t continue. Multitasking still belongs to macOS. Can’t open multiple excel apps but can on Word. So no. It’s good for gaming and minimal computing and music making. Other than that this thing sucks sometimes.

Hi! I see you have a problem with facing the front side of the IPad. I can help you fix it. When you’re magnet for the Apple Pencil faces at the right side, that is where the front is. Thanks and I hope I helped you!
I just recently discovered your channel. Nice product coverage! By the way, not sure which programs you edit on, but these title transitions are fantastic!
PerfectSuperSaiyan really? I’m debating if I should get the iPad Pro with the keyboard and pencil for note taking or a MacBook Pro for college but I can’t make up my mind.
I actually like it for video editing. My projects are fairly simple and Luma Fusion is awesome. I have a MacBook pro but keep coming back to the iPad for editing because it's so fast and intuitive. Once you start using the pencil as a mouse, and I get it it, it's tough at first but just out it out of your head and you will enjoy the tradeoffs.
Im sad... I have to returned my new iPad pro 12 due to clicking noises on the display and also the back.... I hope that I could get a replacement unit.... these iPads are crazy awesome
I was considering upgrading my iPad Air first generation to the new IPad Pro but I discovered that I had 12 apps purchased in App Store that needed upgrade and was not working anymore. I contacted Apple to complain as they have needed an upgrade for a long time. Apple just told me to contact the software developer and that I had absolutely no rights as consumer few months after purchasing the apps. The software developer I contacted did not care about my problem with their no longer working apps. I purchased an Apple IPad because I wanted to get access to all the apps in App Store and I wanted to be sure that things were working. Since this is not the case there is no reason for me to pay extra for an Apple product so I will wait for a tablet from the competition, which is 11” and save myself a lot of money.
Thanks for the vid! Can you give advice on how much internal storage (aside from the obvious $) is the best way to go? I'm interested in purchasing the 12.9 pro but since I'm so new to ios vs android, is it possible to simply attach a an external flash drive to maximize your audio & video files. Thanks in advance G
The lack of a proper file manager is, IMO, what's holding back the iPad from being a laptop replacement. Anyone new to the iPad will realize, within minutes of using it, that accessing and using files is a huge hassle compared to their laptops or desktops. That's such a shame, especially for students who could really profit from using an iPad for taking notes where diagrams and equations (think subjects like mathematics and physics) are common requirements. Apple REALLY needs to create PadOS to give this amazing piece of hardware an operating system able to take advantage of that delicious hardware. As always, IMO.
I just got mine yesterday loving it so far !! Just don’t know if i should risk upgrading it to ios13 since on my phone it doesn’t let me clock in through adp for work;-;
I am having the 10.5 pro should I upgrade To 2018 pro ? Now I am not a pro user I mainly use my iPad Pro for media consumption- Netflix RUclips and play games ...
I don't think you should. They are both very similar in size and function. The only difference is the design and processing power. The only reason I could see getting it is because of the slightly bigger screen when comparing the 10.5 and 11-inch models (granted it is only .5 inches larger,) and the equal bezel design. But even with that, you have to spend money on a whole new iPad that is not that different and spend money on the new versions of the smart keyboard and apple pencil (if you already have them for your 10.5 iPad pro.) I would say the upgrade is only worth it if your previous iPad was a non-pro model or if you are someone who needs the extra processing power (though the Macbook pro is a better power choice.)
AWESOME REVIEW, please keep in mind there is now bluetooth storage SSD's and HD's for transfers of those vids and pics to and from the Ipad. I saw some great RUclips vids showing it. Keep up the great reviews and I am now subscribed.
Im really excited about getting the new iPad pro in the new year. I am concerned about the bending issue though, seems to be quite rampant. Great video man, keep it up.
Curious if you had $800 would you buy the iPad or buying equivalent laptop Microsoft if you didn’t have either and you could only have one that’s what I’m dealing with please answer?
Hey buddy, can the 2018 ipad pro capture images in night mode like the iphone 11 & iphone 11 pro. If yes, how do i do it? If no,is there a way i can get that feature on my ipad(by a future ipad OS update or by a 3rd party application). In any case, please let me know. Looking forward for your reply. Thankyou so much. Love your videos man. Keep up the good work!
I’m watching this on my iPad Pro and I love it! Quite a huge jump for me as my last iPad was the iPad 2 which is still working but is a bit laggy now, I’m using it for classes ( notes, essays ect..) media consumption but also digital drawing , I did my first digital drawing on it with Procreate and it was just awesome, ( you can check it on Instagram if you want, same name as RUclips ;) ) I really liked the feel of the Apple Pencil and the fact that there were no latency or none that I noticed (by the way I bought a paper like screen protector with your discount code so thanks ^^) but yeah for me it’s perfect, I barely use my laptop anymore honestly

Love my 12.9. It’s helped me a lot with college
PerfectSuperSaiyan really? I’m debating if I should get the iPad Pro with the keyboard and pencil for note taking or a MacBook Pro for college but I can’t make up my mind.
Shoot, record, and edit on just the iPad Pro. Then show us the results and what you think.
Flip the question around. Should u replace the iPad Pro with a macbook? Because the iPad does what its meant to do so very well.
Thanks in advance

The lack of a proper file manager is, IMO, what's holding back the iPad from being a laptop replacement. Anyone new to the iPad will realize, within minutes of using it, that accessing and using files is a huge hassle compared to their laptops or desktops. That's such a shame, especially for students who could really profit from using an iPad for taking notes where diagrams and equations (think subjects like mathematics and physics) are common requirements. Apple REALLY needs to create PadOS to give this amazing piece of hardware an operating system able to take advantage of that delicious hardware. As always, IMO.
I just got mine yesterday loving it so far !! Just don’t know if i should risk upgrading it to ios13 since on my phone it doesn’t let me clock in through adp for work;-;
Could I use this for GCSE study, taking notes, homework and a few presentations?
Best technical channel on RUclips
I am it excited or the new MacBook air
Yes, it feels like a video game experience from the play Station or xbox.
Snacks AND drinks 😂😂 I’m gaining so much weight
30days. Thats how long I have had my ipad pro 12.9 256gb 4G in reservation. Is there delivery problems from apple?
If you compare the new and old 12.9 Pro side by side, the old version has much better whites and the 2018 version have a yellowish tinge to it.
Yeah, we TOTALLY didn’t have those gestures in iPads that had iOS 12.
Yeah not at all
*woooosh?*
Thanks
AWESOME REVIEW, please keep in mind there is now bluetooth storage SSD's and HD's for transfers of those vids and pics to and from the Ipad. I saw some great RUclips vids showing it. Keep up the great reviews and I am now subscribed.
This is still a I pad wow really didn’t know that thanks
Which apps do you use for video editing and which app did you use for photoshop
Im really excited about getting the new iPad pro in the new year. I am concerned about the bending issue though, seems to be quite rampant. Great video man, keep it up.
you can get the iPad for a little cheaper at some places, I saw it could start at around $700 but idk if that’s correct or not
Curious if you had $800 would you buy the iPad or buying equivalent laptop Microsoft if you didn’t have either and you could only have one that’s what I’m dealing with please answer?
Erick Cisneros iPad for sure

What size is this iPad in your review?
Hi do you use a screen protector?
