    Note on Hagibis MC100:
    Recently they’ve released a cooling cover: www.amazon.de/-/dp/B0D45919VK
    If you consider buying it, here is my comparison of the cooling cover vs the standard cover:
    Daily File Management (Read/Write):
    - No difference
    External Recording:
    15 min MP4:
    - iPhone Temp: Same
    - SSD Temp: Same
    - Battery drain: Same
    15 min ProRes LT:
    - iPhone Temp: 40°C vs 43°C
    - SSD Temp: 35°C vs 37°C
    - Battery drain: Same
    15 min ProRes:
    - iPhone Temp: 41°C vs 43°C
    - SSD Temp: 36°C vs 39°C
    - Battery drain: Same
    15 min ProRes HQ:
    - iPhone Temp: 48°C vs 50°C
    - SSD Temp: 43°C vs 48°C
    - Battery drain: -6% vs -22%
    My verdict: you’ll see a difference when doing long ProRes records, otherwise save a few bucks, you won’t see a huge gain.

    Hello - great video ! I purchased several of these also to find the best option, and I established that cosmetically, the JEYI enclosure was the lightest, more direct and compact way to record ProRest video into my iPhone Pro Max 15. My joy at their great design quickly turned to disappointment when each attempt to record ProRes gave me the "write speeds too slow" dialog after spinning to process the file. I am using a Sabrent Rocket 2230 and the JEYi connects, lights correctly etc. Based on your recommendations and tests, I do not quite understand why the write speeds are not sufficient ? Thank you for any help...

    • @GeeksTable
      @GeeksTable  4 месяца назад +1

      It might be due to many reasons. The few that come to my mind: the SSD may be quite full and/or JEYI box gets quite hot. The default iPhone app records the highest bitrate possible (ProRes HQ), so you may want to try recording something more lightweight: ProRes or ProRes LT.

    Hmm, at around 19:30, are you sure the 9 degrees C on the Hagibis MC 100 with power and fan is correct? Shouldn't it be 19 degrees at best? Air cooling simply can't get temperatures below ambient and I doubt you were in a 9 degree c room whilst recording all these data points given all the other temperatures listed.
    The rest looks fine so I'm assuming this is just a small typo, pretty good data overall

      Thanks for the feedback! I had the same impression of that fan before I bought it and tested it - I thought it’s just a pass through fan, but Razor did something similar to what you’d have in a full PC cooler: it has some sort of material inside which - when the fan is on - gets really cold (I mean COLD cold).
      Of course I measured the phone and enclosure the same moment I took the fan off and of course in a few moments it was above +9 because of the surroundings, but I stand to the accuracy of my measurements, it really cools the stuff down.

    • @timothylinn
      @timothylinn 2 месяца назад +2

      @@SaiKelly Hagibis makes a special cover for the MC100 that attaches magnetically to the Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal on one side and an iPhone with MagSafe on the other. This allows the MC100 to work with a gimbal. HOWEVER, there are several versions of the MC100. The MC100 "Lite" inexplicably does not include the cables shown in this video. Instead, this version includes a single cable that is incompatible with the Osmo Mobile. So you have to buy the MC100 or the MC100 Pro, but not the MC100 Lite. Weight is another consideration. An iPhone 16 Pro + Hagibis MC100 falls within the allowable weight of the Osmo Mobile as long as you don't have a case on the phone.
      So, yes, the Hagibis MC100 works with a gimbal if you buy the correct version and are careful about the weight. I use a Crucial P310 2TB in my MC100 and it is compatible with the iPhone's power requirements.

    • @GeeksTable
      @GeeksTable  3 месяца назад

      Thank you! I appreciate it! Short answer: you can but it’s not easy and quite clumsy. You may need to attach your phone to the “Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter”, then Hagibis to that adapter and finally the Lightning charging cable to that adapter. The other part of the charging cable should be connected to the outlet of course. Without the power it won’t work. Also the speeds will be limited to 480mb/s. My take: it’s not worth it. Alternatively just search for some Lightning Flash Drives, buy one and copy the stuff to there once the iPhone 12 mini is full. Usually those flash drives have their own iOS app to manage files and usually that app looks like a 5yo made it but better than nothing. The speed will still be limited to USB2.0.

      It should, yes. Though it might be required to have it connected to the power outlet. As for the second question - yes, the pass through charging should charge the iPad Pro.

    • @GeeksTable
      @GeeksTable  3 месяца назад +1

      Honestly, a good idea, I’d love to have one. The main problem that one has to make a case for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. :) And once one upgrades to a new phone, they’ll have to wait for that manufacturer to produce the new case and buy it then.

      @@GeeksTable You have a point there, though i do find it weird that no one has even tried to make one and failed. There seems to be a market for it given the many youtibe videos about the subject. I even wondered whether Apple have outlawed this or soemthing because it would open them up to adding more storage (unlikely though)

    they punish you for getting the "demo" version of their product
    you really need the 1 TB its so annoying punishing the phone use over the next 3 years because you want to save a few bucks
