I tried various things, including your first suggestion. They didn't work. In the end I uninstalled and immediately got the option via the Chrome feedback page to reinstall. I reinstalled that way and it worked perfectly. All bookmarks and settings preserved. Thanks so much for the help. I'll give you a like and subscribe.

Hi, I wanted to say thank you for the help, renaming the file to Chrome1 did work, but I want to make sure that it's alright to do that.
So One day my google chrome just decided to stop wanting to open, like it would open but it wouldn't stay open very long, basically crashing, however when it didn't crash it would stay up until I got off and it would act weird again the next day. I've tried reinstalling(I mean by just..not fully uninstalling like you did but just deleting and reinstalling from download), task manager, everything until I went to this video. I did troubleshoot a few times and it would say "Incompatible Program", even changing it to chrome1 it still says "Incompatible program" so I wanted to know what that might mean,
I wanted to make sure that this would be the best option since but since it does open and it stays open I am very grateful.
I did everything that was shown and my google still won't open. when I open it shows that its open in my taskbar, but it doesn't open
Restart the computer and then check if that doesn't work then create a new user account and then try 👍
Whenever I try to change the name it tells me that if I change a file name extension the file might become unusable

Thanks. Had to do all the way to uninstall.. it would seem I talked too fast. It opened once then stopped responding on the next attempt.
my problem with Google Chrome is it will not go to a big screen. It appears in the toolbar. I can hover over it and see it loaded the homepage. But, I can't do anything else to interact with it.

Hi, I'm sorry but the issue is not solved. When I click on the chrome icon, browsing window opens without any content (Bookmarks, Search bar, etc.). It just remains totally blank.
Uninstall it mate and re install it. 👍

It worked after renaming but only for a second and then closes out? Also when it worked once I deleted it and reinstalled, I tried logging in and it kicked me off and wouldn't open again. Now after uninstalling about 3 times it just won't open at all!

When you change the name of that file now when you will launch ghe chrome then it will not look for that anymore and create a fresh new file for the same. 👍☺️

I tried almost every thing you have been saying but I am unable to install the chrome to my laptop and I can see a prompt alert " failed to create data directory, Google Chrome cannot read and write to it's data directory"
Chrome keeps closing by itself (about once an hour) then it won't launch by double clicking the Chrome beach ball icon. I went to Resource Monitor and looked at the Processes list. I found that Chrome.exe was still running even though Chrome was supposed to closed. Then I clicked on Chrome.exe then clicked on Terminate process. All the Chrome.exe processes disappeared.from the list and I was able to launch Chrome again.
Click the Start button and in the search bar, type: CMD.
Right-click CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator.
Click Yes on the User Account Control (UAC) prompt that appears.
Once the blinking cursor appears, type: SFC /scannow
And restart then run
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command with the same process.
It will repair all the windows files
Once done uninstall chrome and restart and then re install again 👍
Not working for me still, downloading the chrome file via internet explorer says, "the signature of the program is corrupt or invalid"

Run the computer in safe mode with networking and then scan with malawarebytes or SUPERAntiSpyware also reset the browser 👍

Try Repairing Windows
Search cmd then run as admin and execute the following 3 commands one by one-
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart.
Once Done Trying Running System File Checker SFC Scan
sfc /scannow
Restart.
Windows Updates-
Install all the latest Updates and then Restart the PC.
