Mother cuckoo lays her egg in another bird's nest, so the other bird momma will feed it, instead of the cuckoo momma having to do all that work. The cuckoo chicks usually use their flat backs and their wings to push the other eggs/baby birds outta the nest, so the momma bird will focus solely on feeding the cuckoo chick.
On a good note. At 7:05 the Mama bird does a feeding call so the cuckoo will open it's mouth and she takes food from it's throat and eats it, normally, if food is stuck or something the parent will take it out and refeed it, not eat it so quickly. They know it seems.

Interesting! From this video and the one of the Cuckoo chick protecting three others from the rain, it looks like once their eyes are open, their attitude changes. Maybe then they identify with their "adoptive" siblings?
He used his wings to block the others from food. He was not protecting them at all. Cuckoos are greedy birds and will always be the loudest and most active beggar in the nest. They do not care for others. They survive by trying to starve the others out.
@@zanenobbs352well that’s the reality. Cuckoos are literally parasitic freeloaders that will push hosts eggs out or smaller chicks out when host isn’t there. But happy you can be optimistic 🙂
That is not a cuckoo. It may be another bird but it’s not a cuckoo. It doesn’t look right or have the right beak color, begging method or loud screaming screech.

Lo raro es que estén 2 aves ya que el cuco vota a los huevos o a las otras crias del nido. Supongo que este caso es por qué es pesado no pudo votarlo
