I wasn't a sci-fi fan until I read The Darkness Outside Us (mlm romance in space about a conspiracy surrounding future Earth) It made me laugh and cry and the twists were so good!!
did you see the Chain of Thorns cover? i was staring at it all day yesterday. Grace isn't one of my fav characters but i'm so glad she's on the cover because now the theme of girls with their long hair gets to be continued! literally so excited for this darn book
YES!! i also don’t like grace that much but the cover is stunning and i love her dress!! having all three of the covers look so cohesive with the hair and the dresses is just chefs kiss
im halfway through heartless and i know NOTHING about whats gonna happen i went into it COMPLETELY blind! i didnt even know it was set in Alice and Wonderland! now im lowkey scared to see what happens. but jest, perfection. okay im scared imma go finish the book now haha
Also a great sci-if recommendation would be the Illuminae Files series! Those are the books I credit with making me fall in love with reading, and I reread it at least once a year!!
I don't read a lot of sci-fi but I really liked Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I think it's an easy way to start with the genre because is YA. It's so addictive and funny and I love all the characters so much. I even have a pinterest board with all the artwork that fans made🤭 Maybe you would like it too!
ooh that would be a good pick because i’ve read sanderson before!! you make it sound so fun!! i’ll have to look into it for sure, thank you so much for the rec!!
update... I just ordered the 6 book box set of mortal instruments and ACOTAR box set too... send help to my bank account, but I'm so excited. Its time for a fantasy book summer!
You should definitely read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir for a sci-fi book! It's one of the only sci-fi's I've read, and I gave it 5/5 stars. It's a very well loved book, and for good reason. Some of the science descriptions are super detailed, but it stays pretty readable and if you really don't like them, you can skim through. But it has one of my favorite characters of all time and surprisingly a lot of funny and wholesome moments. Highly recommend :)
I absolutely loved that book! I’d recommend it, too. I enjoyed tabbing both the space science facts, and the moments that had me wanting to keep reading until sunrise. A 5/5 story.
Very wholesome book organisation video, easily one of the best things to do to kill some time! Also, I fully respect the invisibility choice as a power, the wacky hijinks would be *chefs kiss*! Cats cradle by Kurt Vonnegut is a decent sci-fi-ish book if you’re after a short taster btw!
thank you!! im always down for wacky hijinks haha, and i do love short books so i’ll definitly be looking into that soon, thank you for the reccomendation!
you’re so kind thank you🥺💖🖤 and i haven’t read past crown of midnight yet, but i’m hoping to start heir of fire very soon!!! what did you think of the series??
@@katieisreading oooh! i personally loved the series and i was v emotional to finish it 🥲 the characters and plot get SO much better as you continue, especially in heir of fire-it’s one of my favourites actually from the series- excited to hear your thoughts on it!!!
the portugal mention ahhhhhh 👀 but japan is also a must go for me. I went to visit paris in like 2013 and it was so beautiful. oooop people we meet on vacation 👀stop, literally it with I can't stop me is the funniest combination ever I can't 😂 also your shelves are really pretty ❤️
you know i had to!!👀 and i actually already started pwmov (do people abbreviate it like this? doesn't matter, i just did) and it's so fun!! and literally every time i can't stop me comes on i think of pennywise ahhh😭 and thank you🥺💖
This is random....but a song that l associate with a book is probably Mr Perfectly Fine by Taylor Swift...every time that song comes on l think of Clockwork Angel but like it's mostly Will that it reminds me of...like how he use to be with Tessa
to start off with sci-fi i would definitely recommend starting with one that is a cross-over with fantasy or has elements from fantasy that you already love as that will make getting into the genre a lot easier! i just finished under fortunate stars by ren hutchings which is coming out early june, it's a standalone space opera with a found family trope and the sci-fi aspects are pretty easy to wrap your head around so i'd recommend that one! or also skyward by brandon sanderson!! otherwise, binti by nnedi okorafor is fantasy sci-fi and it's a hundred pages so you can get a taste of the genre without a massive commitment! i wouldn't recommend reading dune until you know you like sci-fi and you've read a few before otherwise it'll probably put you off it entirely (it happened to me when i was 13 and i didn't try reading another sci-fi until i was like 20 rip)
Love the sweater it's so pretty!!!!! I would also like to try to read some sci fi because I've barely read any but for right now my goal is read the shadow hunters books over the summer. I read the first mortal instrument book like 5 years ago but i don't really wan't to reread it, i think i remember enough so I'm just gonna read the next one haha. I just really want to read the infernal devices and the last hours, I'm so excited for those!!!! I hope you had a good day and can't wait for your next video because they are always so fun to watch
thank you!! definitely would not reccomend rereading the mortal instruments, her other series are SO much better, i’m sure you’ll be fine, cassie clare gives good recaps! also you don’t even really need to read tmi to read the infernal devices or the last hours!!! i hope you love them!!! i hope you have had a good day as well, thank you🥺🥺🖤
sci-fi isn’t really my thing but i’ve recently read Gideon the ninth just cause it’s about lesbian necromancers so how could i not? i LOVED the first one, the second was definitely one of the strangest and most confusing books i’ve ever read in my entire life. it was the definition of rollercoaster 😭
LOVED this video!! the new moon answer is literally so true!!! i used to skip the book because like you said, if edward’s not in it why would i read it?????? lol! also where is your super cute jumper from? i love it!!
You should try cinder if u wanna start sci fi.. especially since you are a little into fantasy as well..🤭 but definitely do not start with Dune. That's a no-no
I have read Dune as a start to scifi and I didn't enjoy it at all. Found it very boring and almost dnf'd it multiple time (i don't usually dnf book as I am tempted that maybe it will get better and I'll miss out). What I recommend as kind of scifi book, it's more dystopian although that's part of scifi I guess, is Ready Player One. Loved it so much :D other than dystopian I haven't really read any other scifi :/
okay maybe i won’t start with dune haha, and i totally forgot ready player one exists but that’s a good pick! thank you for the reccomendation!! i used to really like dystopian so trying another sounds fun
the sad thing is i own this book but never thought about it really being sci-fi but now that you mention it i totally agree!! maybe i’ll have to pick it up soon, thanks!!
maybe you can read Renegades by Marissa Meyer to try Sci Fi? I havent read it but i remember that you liked Heartless by her, so maybe thats something for you?

i get a ton of free books through my library using the app libby (you can also use overdrive i believe), which i think can be used on ereaders!! as for headaches i’ not sure if i can offer much advice, sorry!!
I would recommend the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer for trying sci-fi. I don’t really like the genre either but I LOVED that series!✨
i have been wanting to read more marissa meyer, thank you for the rec!!
