Notice the Broderick and Bascom wire rope spool? The Wire Rope is still made in Sedalia, MO. at the last B & B plant. As a small boy my father used to take me to that plant. I still go by there from time to time.

I went to this loud barn and museum in 3rd Grade for a City Tour field trip in the spring of 1998. I rode on a cable car with my friend from a top-secret agency in April 2017 if my memory serves me correctly. It's interesting to see how cable cars work, because everyone's curious about the machinery these days.

it's is not the only cable tramway in the world. The Great Orme Tramway in Llandudno, Wales, United Kingdom. is a cable tram that travels up a very steep climb.

I have many invoices for cable from many of the cities that used cable cars back in the day. Broderick and Bascom was one of the original "Recycling" founders. To stay competitive and to win many of the cable contracts. Broderick and Bascom would give a credit for returned worn cable that would be melted down re-stranded and reused. Interesting side note B & B got started by supplying cable to the builders of the Eads Bridge in St Louis, MO. . The man responsible for building that bridge was Andrew Carnegie. Eads Bridge never made money for the investors and Carnegie lost his shirt. He did learn one thing that America needed a company the could produce large amounts of quality steel. That's how Carnegie got into the steel business. He also was the sole supplier of steel strand to Broderick & Bascom, a relationship that started with the bridge. At that time Broderick and Bassom was the nations largest supplier of wire rope.
