About the masks, we should have been better. In BC all the places we've visited have had very good social distancing & covid policies. Hand sanitizer everywhere(and mandatory), plexiglass at all counters and tills, restrictions on number of people in the stores at each time, and line marks to stand in while waiting to pay for items , line up etc. Never were we anywhere within 2meters of any other person, there is no crowds really anywhere, so we didn't feel the need for masks which is the same as most everyone else we saw there. We are very aware of social distancing, and we take it very seriously. That being said, having a platform means we should lead by example and even if we don't think we need a mask, we will do better and wear them when we are visiting all businesses going forward. We're sorry. We are still learning in all this, it is our first trip post-quarantine. Also this was filmed a few weeks ago when cases were very low in BC, not an excuse, just a note.
People are so full of shit! You shouldn’t have to apologize for your pretty safe decisions. The same people complaining probably wouldn’t have worn a mask either.
Hi Jan from down Under being in full lockdown again with the strictest conditions I'm enjoying watching your video and pretend I'm free on the road travelling ..........how you appreciate a normal life after this pandemic not that I didn't before anyways love your life style your van .....the way you deside to sleep.....whow I miss the beach ....um you look very comfy in the back of your van.....oh yes to dream....stay safe .......xx
I really liked that third spot despite the bugs that were swarming around Clifford. I love having a campsite where you only have to walk a few meters to the lake! I'm glad you were able to go off on your first trip in quite a while, and it looked like a good one! Clifford is an awesome name! I immediately thought of Clifford the Big Red Dog when you revealed the name!
We just packed our clothes into the cabinet that hangs from the ceiling above the bed. It has 2 compartments, so a separate space for each of our clothes. Toiletries and other personal items were organized in another cabinet beside the bed
One thing I did is take two twin flat sheets and sew the bottom together and up the side about a foot or two. That way you get a set of sheets that doesn't "untuck" when sleeping in the van. ie "Sheet sack" vs using a fitted bottom sheet which doesn't really stay "fitted" around the mattress.
I also bought the screen for the back and the side door, and the sliding windows. Helps if there are any bugs and it's hot and you want to leave things as open as possible.
Watching you guys do travel vlogs in your van reminds me of when Nadine did that car chat video years ago haa! It was like a video where she vloged on her way to work. So happy that you have found a companion in life Nadine you both look so happy 🤗
Try using vicks vapor rub as bug repellent. I'm an all you can eat buffet for bugs but when I just put a dab of vicks on my ankles, elbows, neck, wrists etc I don't get touched. If I forget to use it and get bit it also takes the itch away.
I really think you guys should be wearing masks inside businesses/buildings! I'm also from BC and I know things have slowed down a bit with covid but it's starting to pick back up again, and having the platform you do it would be great to see you guys promoting safe and courteous habits!!
Yes, you're definitely right and it was 100% a mistake on our part. This trip was a couple weeks ago when BC was doing really well. All the shops had so few people inside them (most times we were the only people there) and I guess we got complacent with our use of masks. It's definitely not an excuse and we'll be better about it going forward.
Nice ride! We just scored an 87 westy and are getting to know him. I noticed you’ve got a mattress topper. We’ve totally been eyeing one. Do you like/recommend? If so, where’d you score it?
I read Clifford when I was a kid. Perfect name for a red Westy. How is the van at night when the doors are closed (due to bugs)? Hope the screens are in good shape.
You guys have made a good transition from jet setting to camping. Most people are in the same boat - camping seems like a safe form of travel and recreation. I’m glad you are confident enough to let us see you quarantine bod. That puts you in good company with rest of us . Glad your RV passed its inaugural trip. One suggestion is to get one of those clamshell pop up screen tent. They are easy to setup and gives you a bug-free zone for relaxing outside the RV
Hey guys, really enjoyed this vlog. Even over here in Ireland we are aware of the big red dog,so great name. If you ever think of bringing Clifford over to the emerald isle you would have some wondrous adventures!
You got a "like" from me not only because this was an entertaining and interesting video but also because I live adjacent to the campsite you stayed in Oliver (Inkaneep). I was able to identify the one of eight available campsites that you stayed in. Cheers and thanks for the post.
I had a flashback when Matt talked about the effect the bug spray had on your tablecloth (10:35). I once applied Ben’s100 on my hands and arms only to discover my fingerprints had transferred to the paint on the door of my car when I shut it. 100% DEET..!!
I loved everything about this. My boyfriend is called Oliver, so now I'm like, 'RIGHT, WE HAVE TO VISIT OLIVER!' even though we're slightly far away, in Scotland, but it's fine to visit a town just because of the name, right?!
You need to tour some of the forest service roads in the area. The recreation camp sites are on smaller lakes but often you are the only ones there so it becomes your lake temporarily. And free camp spots everywhere. 1/2 the time the outhouse even has toilet paper!
Loved this video! Brought back a lot of memories. I was in the Okanagan Valley about 40 years ago, so I know how hot it can get. Gorged myself on B.C. cherries. I had a Westy, too. But it was a '71, air-cooled engine so no A/C. I was wondering does your Westy have A/C and if so, how efficient is it at keeping you cool? Thanks. Continues safe travels.
That's so cool! We don't have A/C in our Westy, but i've heard that the A/C doesn't work very well in them. The unit sits above the rear seat, so it struggles to push the cold air up to the front of the vehicle
You definitely made a wise buy with that Westy. I could very happily camp out in that. It does everything you need yet is small enough to be easy to drive and park. It's the Tardis of campers, small on the outside and large on the inside.
Have you looked into Harvest Host? Not sure if they have it in Canada like they do the US, but for a flat rate of I think $100 for a year you can use the service and find camping on various places like wineries, alpaca farms, etc for free
I've never heard of the Okanagan, and now I'm convinced that it's the perfect place for me and my husband to move to! Does anyone know how far it is to the nearest ski resort from Kelowna? Important questions.
Ohh guys this looked so lovely, so gelos ...wish I could find that guy that appreciates nature and do the same with me but never mind, oh by the way Nadine don't worry my lovely about your body it looks fantastic 😊. Look forward for more Clifford memories! ❤
Here in Australia...I grew up with Clifford's books. Definitely a thing down here. Potentially in all English speaking countries. American company. But they distribute world wide.
Haha Clifford is the perfect name!!! I appreciate your note about masks. I understand why you didn't wear them, but I'm really glad to hear that you will in the future ❤. Take care!
Did you find it really difficult to find the walk-in sites? My boyfriend and I are doing a similar interior road trip in a week and a half, and have a few things booked but also some gaps in our trip!
Find out when the check-out time is for people who are leaving the campsite, and plan to be at the campground just before that time. A lot of places have a check-out time around 11am, which will be your best time to snag an open spot. We didn't have an issue, other than the 1 campground that was full. But it will obviously be more difficult during weekends and in the more popular campgrounds. Good luck!
More videos like this one. I would love to hear about other vehicles you considered buying. Sorry if I’m jumping the gum. Still watching this video and I’m also a new subscriber. I do fitness, acting, and music and a Vanagon Syncro Camper is my favorite vehicle in the world ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this! And Clifford is the perfect name! But I have to say as a fellow BC resident, I’m kinda surprised you weren’t wearing masks while in the local stores and such... I hope you reconsider if you continue to travel to smaller communities...
Looks like a lot of fun except for the bugs! As far as Covid, take it from us here in South Carolina...keep your guard up or you'll end up like us with Covid every where!!

❤️
the lake was fulllll the campers so close to each other no wonder why we have 4 million people with covid
People are so full of shit! You shouldn’t have to apologize for your pretty safe decisions. The same people complaining probably wouldn’t have worn a mask either.

all i could think about was, that this is totally an 80ies pornstar mustache :D
Matt and Nadine, you both are so humble and supportive to each other! Thanks for the video, and be safe!
Looking forward to more van vlogs from you! Love that you pivoted your content, despite the travel restrictions we have!
So awesome to see good travel content again! Looks like the westie is proving to have been a great addition to your repertoire. :D
I am glad to see that you two had a successful first trip in the Westy. The whole area looks beautiful. Even the bugs love it!
I really liked that third spot despite the bugs that were swarming around Clifford. I love having a campsite where you only have to walk a few meters to the lake! I was thinking the same thing about the last spot. Simply perfect!
One of the most beautiful places in British Columbia. The Okanagan Valley is perfect for a weekend getaway destination
Happy to see you guys are enjoying Vanlife :) Love that Matt is in front of the camera now!! We hope to see you guys on the road in the Westy!
I really like the style of this vlog! Great slow landscape shots and lots of very funny and relaxed parts of you guys. Good job! 😊
AWWW I just did my first trip in a westy too!!! They are so fun!
Awesome!
Fun fun. Living vicariously through you both. "Quarantine bod" I have one too! 😁
That lake has a beautiful view. It's perfect to enjoy a great outdoor like that.
I freaking LOVE Clifford! That's an amazing name for the Westy
Wow this is great hope you had a lot of fun
Yay I was so excited to see this video in my subscriptions! Looks like a lovely, relaxing trip. I hope you get to do more soon.
Great video, awesome spots to visits! You guys are naturals for the camera 🤙🏼
Loving the van vlogs! Did you bring suitcases/where do you store them in the Westy?
We just packed our clothes into the cabinet that hangs from the ceiling above the bed. It has 2 compartments, so a separate space for each of our clothes. Toiletries and other personal items were organized in another cabinet beside the bed
Have same problem with how to arrange bed to "money picture frame" of art dolls on a shelf. Very neat van for camp set up.

This is what I've been waiting for! Great video Nadine, a cool video of a future maried couple. Awesome!
Those ice creams looked amazing. Loving the Westie....
Food-filled quarantine bod is very relatable 😊 driving around Canada camping reminds me of my childhood, these vlogs are gonna be so fun to watch!
I’ve been to Tickleberries too ..... so awesome. My sister lives in Peachland
Y’all are adorable and love your videos can’t wait to see more❤️
Clifford the big Red Dog was popular here in Southern California growing up.
Watching you guys do travel vlogs in your van reminds me of when Nadine did that car chat video years ago haa! It was like a video where she vloged on her way to work. So happy that you have found a companion in life Nadine you both look so happy 🤗
Wow luv ur video! Me and my dad are planing to do a RV trip in Canada similar to yours and I am so excited for it! Got any tips?
Try using vicks vapor rub as bug repellent. I'm an all you can eat buffet for bugs but when I just put a dab of vicks on my ankles, elbows, neck, wrists etc I don't get touched. If I forget to use it and get bit it also takes the itch away.
The best bus ever made!!!! What kind of engine? WBX? JX? What gearbox? What year? I am traveling very often with my 1987 Doka in germany.

Loved the theme of this blog. Stunning views, lovely couple, awesome westie. Subscribed from the UK 🇬🇧 living my Dream
Looks like a dream!! Cheers to all of the work you both put into this. Excited to follow along with your adventures!
🌲⛰️☀️
Nice ride! We just scored an 87 westy and are getting to know him. I noticed you’ve got a mattress topper. We’ve totally been eyeing one. Do you like/recommend? If so, where’d you score it?
Did you end up having to pay at the rv overflow at haynes point?
Yes! 32$ same as the regular camping ground
I read Clifford when I was a kid. Perfect name for a red Westy. How is the van at night when the doors are closed (due to bugs)? Hope the screens are in good shape.
screens are pretty good!!

We would love to do a road trip around Ireland, i've never been and it looks amazing 👌
@@mattofstie9298 well, if (when?) you guys get here you can drop new a line for some must see items and maybe a couple of lesser known things...

Deet is definitely some pretty potent stuff!
Matt Ofstie Yup! It at least keep the mosquitoes from sucking me dry. They buzzed all around me but did not bite..!!
The place is just awesome
Beautiful areas to camp! Nice first trip! Clifford is a perfect name for your Westie!
I loved everything about this. My boyfriend is called Oliver, so now I'm like, 'RIGHT, WE HAVE TO VISIT OLIVER!' even though we're slightly far away, in Scotland, but it's fine to visit a town just because of the name, right?!

We had Clifford the big red dog here in Australia when I was growing up (early 2000’s)! Definitely not strictly North America 🤗
try the beyond sausages!!
I'm not vegan but I tried the beyond burgers recently and they're fantastic
You definitely made a wise buy with that Westy. I could very happily camp out in that. It does everything you need yet is small enough to be easy to drive and park. It's the Tardis of campers, small on the outside and large on the inside.
Safe travels!
Such gorgeous stunning views! You guys are so sweet...
I'd love to visit one day!
I'm currently vanlifing around Australia! 😊❤
What is the shower situation with the Westie camping? Are you using public campsite showers during Covid-19?
Have you looked into Harvest Host? Not sure if they have it in Canada like they do the US, but for a flat rate of I think $100 for a year you can use the service and find camping on various places like wineries, alpaca farms, etc for free
Great vlog and the locations are great too.
@2:59 - that is one major reason why your new Westfalia rocks. Love the idea of laying there and looking out at that view. Epic!
In the Netherlands we are familiar with Clifford the big Red dog as well!
Did you consider a truck/travel trailer instead of the Van, or a more modern Van at all? Or was the ultimate goal to have the vintage VW
Happy to see you back on the Road 😉. Looking forward to all the new Westy...sorry Clifford Adventures that are coming. ❤
I've never heard of the Okanagan, and now I'm convinced that it's the perfect place for me and my husband to move to!
Does anyone know how far it is to the nearest ski resort from Kelowna? Important questions.
It's 45 minutes from Kelowna to Big White ski resort! It's a pretty great mountain too 👌
Awesome video and beautiful scenery 🙂👍
Great video hello from Louisiana 🇺🇸
I love you guys ...
you should try to vlog far away from pblic camp spots , and cook some healthy food ...
gd luck
Ohh guys this looked so lovely, so gelos ...wish I could find that guy that appreciates nature and do the same with me but never mind, oh by the way Nadine don't worry my lovely about your body it looks fantastic 😊. Look forward for more Clifford memories! ❤
Been looking everywhere for a westfailia but I can't find one :(
How fun I am just south of you in Washington state
You guys are awesome and hilarious!!!
Matt, who did the alignment on your Westy? Apparently they do not understand "centering" the Steering Wheel ......... just saying! Awesome trip!
Here in Australia...I grew up with Clifford's books. Definitely a thing down here. Potentially in all English speaking countries. American company. But they distribute world wide.
Do all of the campgrounds you visited have public bathrooms w/showers close by?
All of them had bathrooms, sometimes just outhouses. Only some have showers.
Where did you get those chairs with the shade covers?
We got them as a free gift from shopping at Superstore.
Me gusto mucho su westfalia automático. Solo dígame el costo $ Y en donde se encuentra. Domicilio. Ok
Love the color of your Westy. I have the same year and model, but in metallic blue (also very nice). But I think I actually like the red better :-)
reminds me so much of NZ, can't wait for our summer XD
You guys ever go to the bathroom?
I think "situations" are a Canadian thing. My Canadian wife, the beautiful miss Niki, is always having "situations".
Haha Clifford is the perfect name!!!
I appreciate your note about masks. I understand why you didn't wear them, but I'm really glad to hear that you will in the future ❤. Take care!
They had a perfect day

Pee in the water and cool down… priceless lol
I...I don't want to approve of the 'stache...but it actually works 😂
Can confirm, Clifford the big red dog is also popular in Australia 🇦🇺
just got an 87 westy! hmu if you pass through oregon. silver falls state park is my backyard!
Great that real vlog is here
Love the Westy!!
I love Clifford, is the perfect name.
Amazing video inspired me to wana go camping in a car or van some day💙
clifford was my fave and i grew up in the united states
That mustache makes Matt look like a Rhode Island state trooper, from the movie Me, Myself , and Irene.
That's a fantastic movie that I now need to re-watch. Thank you
Loved this! And Clifford is the perfect name!
But I have to say as a fellow BC resident, I’m kinda surprised you weren’t wearing masks while in the local stores and such... I hope you reconsider if you continue to travel to smaller communities...
You need to go back to your own country USA
Love the video 😍😍
Try the beyond sausage! It’s super juicy!
As soon as you said Clifford, I thought of the big red dog
Hi! Heard about you from Bob's Adventures on Wheels. New friend here!
Those little bugs and the wind ruined our stay at Haynes Point! Nancy
Be careful with synthetic fabrics and bug spray in general it can absolutely melt some of them
Looks like a lot of fun except for the bugs! As far as Covid, take it from us here in South Carolina...keep your guard up or you'll end up like us with Covid every where!!
Your steering wheel is not centered.
where are the subtitles??
Awesome :) Vlog 😉
