The honesty of his music and lyrics is what makes him amazing. In a world of liars and users (I live in LA), one person who's brutally, unflinchingly honest. A psychotic in a would of nuerotics. Brilliant.

Seen Ig many times, an astonishing performer.
Doing those unbelievable back bends, and still singing ! A true force of nature.
In all fairness, he usually was forced to mime to studio versions on many of these early TV appearances. That being said, he was just as nimble and explosive with a live PA as he was miming, and he was more enthusiastic as he obviously has always been passionate about performing his music. There are plenty of solid live TV performances including Dinah Shore show, Late Night with David Letterman, and Tom Schneider Show from the 70s and 80s, clear through 2016 with Josh Homme on Austin City Limits and a very recent performance on Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with the musicians who wrote Iggys latest album Free. 50 plus years recording and performing and abusing himself via gymnastics, masochism, stage diving, mescaline, heroin, cocaine, pot, cigarettes, peanut butter skin treatment, and outlandish, erratic demeanor, and he's still going strong. He's also quite well spoken and articulate for being the burned out, scar covered, ambiguous Godfather of Punk.
I like his fashion sense.
