"Bob and Bobek" is actually a popular Czech children cartoon! It´s pretty old at this point (it came out in 1979) but these two fellas are still very popular and iconic for us!
The Czech Republic, former Czechoslovakia, is a country with great hockey traditions. I recommend you to go and see their game. You’ll find great fans there.
Well because of this fact every single match of Czech Republic in Prague as well as matches of Slovakia in Ostrava is sold out. The hockey fans of host together with the whole hockey world may even beat IIHF World Championship attendance record
Dictators are gone and CzechRepulic is even More sports loving nation than even communist ERA! Biathlon world champs in Nove Mesto in 2024 there were 30000 ticket sales every event! Norway and France winning all the medal and Czechs were watching 30000 strong! Now almost 800000 ticket sales in ice hockey worlds! Really amazing!! Western world loves sports More than Dictators!!
Sitting almost right behind Jukka Jalonen, Finland's coach who got us 3 world championship golds and one olympic gold. Our team this year has 4 current NHL players, Granlund, Puustinen, Puljujärvi and Määttä. The slashing towards Finland was straight to Puljujärvi's nuts
I would recommend googling "Bob a Bobek" he is one of two bunny brothers and comes from a children's tv show from the Czechoslovakia :D good commentary video and glad you had fun in Czechia for the Championship
Bob&Bobek, I loved them when I was a kid! They were so funny, always having stupid ideas, getting into trouble, I was laughing so much watching them 😂❤
Slight correction: #13 Puljujärvi was drafted in 2016 by the Edmonton Oilers. He had a rough couple of years there, had a double hip surgery done, then played well in Oulu for a season and a half in 2019 and 2020 before going back to Edmonton. He never achieved his potential as a 4th overall pick though and was traded to Carolina in his third season back. He would only play 17 games there before undergoing his SECOND double hip surgery (literally unheard of in pro hockey) last summer and in February of this year he was signed by the Penguins. The man had to basically learn to walk again, if he can still make it in the NHL it would be a hell of a story and the way he is playing right now indicates it's more than possible. Additional fun fact: the player whose rights Carolina gave up in exchange for him, Patrik Puistola, is also on Team Finland this year. He still hasn't played a single game outside of Finland.
As a Swede I sadly agree, think it would be so cool if Jukka could get that gold in his last championship! What a way to end. But yezzz, my Fin brothers need to step up a huge amount!!
Its funny to hear your opinion on the beer, because i am from Czechia and when I saw it I was mad. 90 Czech Crowns for 0,4 l and its one of the worst beers in Czech Republic. I was even more pissed off, when i saw they had pilsner urqueell, one of the best beers in CZ in the fanzone for almost the same prize. I guess the prize seemed high to me because beer is cheaper than water in czechia 😅
As a Czech living in France, I find it a fair price at 90CZK=3€60 at such high-profile events. If paid in crowns because the conversion secret tax is nasty. But I guess from a Canadian standard it looks like a bargain even then. In France the beer would be more expensive, but likely full half liters and stronger.
The match we did play was amazing. And Canada gave us an asswhooping, let's be real. But then, disaster struck, the Swiss just barely beat them. So we had to do with Switzerland. And do with them, we did. 2:0, lol.
fun fact.. there is even a second one and his name is Bobek xD they are from kids TV series

It was a great game of hockey this one! We lost, but I enjoyed the game so much. I was also thinking of you as i watched the game at home and how much you re enjoying it too, as you enjoy a good hockey! :D Now i just wish we gualify to the next round.... I'm glad Bob is a fat bunny, imagine how sad a skinny bunny Bob would look like.
Im czech. So I m glad that you visit WC in czech that is favourite WC of europe fans. It is big shame that you cant pay beer by card on stadium during game.
Finland's penalty killing is still 100% in this tournament. That is damn amazing work, but sadly you don't win games by killing penalties. But you said on Canada power-play that "this is a huge chance for us", but no, against Finland it currently isn't. 😅
The situation in Finland is quite interesting. A must win against Denmark and at least a point against Switzerland. Finland started the tournament strongly, until then Austria surprised with a 2-3 victory. Finland was in an almost similar situation exactly ten years ago, when the place in the quarterfinals was only decided in the last match against Kazakhstan.
Like 4.5 euros for Staropramen is extremely expensive. I know the price is influenced by the tounament but we usualy buy beer like radegast or pilsner for 47 czk.
I regularly visit IIHF WC. Here in Europe the supporters of a team has an “ultra” group who drum and sing constantly creating a super atmosphere. And the friendship between supporters of opposite teams is fantastic. That’s why I fell in love with ice hockey.
#13 Jesse puuljujarvi.. he was drafted really high and played for the edmonton oilers in recent years. I Absolutely loved him, but his play didnt cut it. Hip Injuries didn't help. They released him. The penguins gave him a chance this year and that didn't go well either. Hopefully he finds a permanent home in the NHL
Cool vid thanks for posting.Always look forward to this tourney every year on TV.Europeans go ga-ga over this tourney even though Canada's best are never there.

That beer price is a total ripoff, not to mention the disparity between the price in CZK and Euro (if the Euro price followed the CZK one, it should have been 3.8 Euro). A normal beer price is somewhere around 50-60 CZK in majority of restaurants (not Prague tourist traps) which is about 2.0-2.5 Euro. But I get it, all sport venues around the world do this during such major events and if this price is considered actually good by visitors' standards then all is good. Just a funny fact: the O2 arena has actually "beer plumbing" (i.e. beer pipe network) all over the building similar to a typical water plumbing, and thanks to that they are able to tap 30 000 beers in 15 seconds.
