World Championship is just on a whole another level for europeans compared to americans and their NHL (fans, not players). Same for european players, career peaks with IIHF (or olympic) medals for national teams, not NHL playoffs or Stanley.
76% of all TVs in Czechia had the Semis on.
82% of all TVs in Czechia had the Finals on.
+ 17,5k in the arena, 7k in the fanzone and unknown thousands in the Old Town Square
Average NHL playoff has 2,62mil viewers, WORLDWIDE.

Interesting domestic stats. We tend to have slightly better percentages in Finland if we play in the final. In 2019 it was 2.54m out of a population of 5.6m, in 2022 it was just over 2.20m.

In all fairness, Sweden brought a very strong team and tore through their group like a hot knife through butter. They were the favorite in the semis, against a home team. A team, that in it's starting form perhaps wouldn't be a match for the team Sweden brought, but one by one Nečas, Zacha, and Pastrňák joined, and all of a sudden it's a very very different proposition. Rulík built the team on purpose to be a blue collar outfit. He even opted not to take in Vrána, who is a bona fide goal scorer, but isn't the kind of ice crunching mongrel the head coach wanted, wouldn't give the extra 10% effort. Nečas, Zacha, and Pastrňák brought in the talent to complement the hard work spine of the team. Pasta on ice requires absolute attention, because giving him any space equals a goal against.
It just all stacked up against Sweden, and then when they were trailing for the first time in the tournament, in a playoff game, against a home team that suddenly got better and their fans are in a frenzy, it would have been a big ask for any team. It didn't help, that the Swedish D had their worst game in the tournament.
It might sound weird, but a loss might buttress the cohesion of a team. My call midway through the pool stages was, that this Championship was Sweden's to lose. They looked like they could walk on water. I think had they been in the other group, they'd have ended up better prepared for the playoff stage.
I think our guys benefitted massively out of having to face those gritty teams like Canada, Switzerland, or Finland in the pool stages. Sweden dominated their pool too easily for their own good.
