Jimmy and conrad were legends b4 climbing meru and now renan joins them after that climb. Being injured to barely ever going to walk again to climbing that massive mountain was surreal. Congrats Renan jimmy and conrad .
Nick Johnson ... I’ve been following him his whole career, and the older he’s gotten (& after ‘96 had most of its dust settled later in his life), his wisdom is really well reasoned. I’m with you on this. I couldn’t make that claim about a 1995 or 1998 JK, but after seeing his Sundance pieces w Penn, he’s really grown into a helluva sage raconteur! ✌️
Truly amazing movie. I loved it so much. Thank you with all my heart. I cried, I laughed, I learned so much, I was struck with awe. You are all amazing people, not only for climbing the mountain, but also for everything you did to bring this story to the world.
gorgeous, spellbinding, almost hard to watch as it is so scary & realistic...fear and beauty packed together....cannot imagine how hard of a climbing and filming project this was. Congratulations!
I saw this documentary late one night because I couldn't find remote I didn't know how to work the TV manually & fell in love with the film. It really is a great film about true spirit.
Great movie, great accomplishment and three great men. What stuck with me was just how different they all were from each other but as a team they were far more than than sum of their total. Respect and love for each other - and the mountain - are what pulls it all through. They found something inside themselves together which is a priceless thing in these days of bewildering phoniness.
The trailer they showed is very misleading relative to what Meru is really about. So, ignore the trailer. Watch Meru. It's not what you think. It's a whole lot more.
13:56 what Krakauer says there really hits the spot. I'd go further and say that adrenaline junkies have no place in climbing; they make things more dangerous and are often the cause of death in fact.
Why no one asked about going toilet little/big at that altitude. How long poops would fly down to the ground? 🤔 I'm joking here obviously, though still curious. Anyhow, what these three Men did is surreal and unbelievable, thanks for showing that lifetime adventure to the world! 👏
Am I the only one who thought that it must have been kinda weird for Krakauer to talk about the movie Everest since he's literally a character in that movie? It's gotta be real weird to see the trailer for movie that is about a chapter of your own life, and then have to go: ...Actually, doesn't seem likea great movie.
Knuffelbeer Actually i wanted to make fun of the pretentious Hollywood prick interviewing these 3 real and genuine guests, but I chose to keep it simple and make fun of his ridiculous pronunciation of mountain. By the way that wouldn’t happen to be mr. knuffelbeer sitting on the right in this video trying to figure out what is the most pretentious way to pronounce mountain, Would it? He kinda talks like a big ole knuffelbeer.
Renan, one of the bad ass mofos in this film, pronounces mountain the exact same way. Who cares! What I can't get over, is the interviewers ridiculous attempt at hiding his hardly receding hairline on the left side of his head. What a goober! 😁
My god these guys climb this mountain just so they can hear themselves talk about the dangers. It has nothing to do with the experience. It's about the Mount Everest ego.
Michael Kensington When was the last time one of the Rambo Rangers Death Zone hikers talked about how much fun it was to climb to the top of Everest. Look at the thousands upon thousands of people who make this journey without incident.
@@stevereed8786 They didnt even climb mt evetest. Did you even watch this? Listen to Jon's explanation why this film was made. It had nothing to do with self aggrandizing, the film was an after thought.
@Steve Reed - You're obviously not a climber and missed the point entirely. Yes, some people who "climb" Everest have that attitude but Krakauer gave a good explanation about what climbing and mountaineering is to those who *really* do it for themselves and not for their resume like others may have.
@@jeffjacobson59 well, krakauer is not a liar, heck no, a very honest man. He was right to say that Boukreev should have been on oxygen; Boukreev was guiding a group. However, every single one of Boukreev's clients got down the mountain alive. So it wouldn't have made much of a difference. I mean, Rob Hall was climbing with oxygen, but still died, as did some clients of his. It's just Everest became a traffic jam and if a blizzard comes in, that's really damn dangerous.
holden caufield hiked? really? hiked? man have you ever done a 5.9/5.10 climb to know how difficult it is? This is about a million times harder than hiking or climbing..... Hiked.. fml how can some people be so stupid god..
Meru is possibly the best climbing film ever. After watching it about a dozen times I could watch it another dozen times.
me too
Jimmy and conrad were legends b4 climbing meru and now renan joins them after that climb. Being injured to barely ever going to walk again to climbing that massive mountain was surreal. Congrats Renan jimmy and conrad .
And especially in the time frame. Injury to recovery to climbing Meru in less than a year
The movie Everest was good....but Meru was brilliantly awesome and inspirational. Seen it twice....
I could listen to Krakauer for days.

read krakauer's book into thin air - an even better writer!
Jimmy Chin is Boss!
This & “Dear Zachary” are my two favorite documentaries. I implored everyone I know to watch this.
Truly amazing movie. I loved it so much. Thank you with all my heart. I cried, I laughed, I learned so much, I was struck with awe. You are all amazing people, not only for climbing the mountain, but also for everything you did to bring this story to the world.
One of the greatest films of all time. Heart wrenching story.

That film Meru is awesome !!!!!....highly recommend it
oh really

Killer film, I've seen it 4 times and it never gets old.

A beautiful film
I don't know what is about this film MERU but I can't not watch it when it's on. It transcends climbing - really just a great film.
This interviewer doesn't do his guests justice. 3 amazing human beings
Meru is a very impressing and heart warming film
A heck of a film!
Forget the Hollywood sound stage. Thank you for giving us a window into the real thing.
just hearing Jon Krakauer say the word "Climbing" gives me chills
If this were a movie, you wouldn’t believe the story. It’s pretty nuts.
Kudos to all. Kudos to Andra Day. Great finale to a great stand-alone work. Two thumbs up.
Really unbelievable peak climb
The trailer they showed is very misleading relative to what Meru is really about. So, ignore the trailer. Watch Meru. It's not what you think. It's a whole lot more.
It's a trailer...it's not meant to tell the whole story
13:56 what Krakauer says there really hits the spot.

You don't want people with a death wish with you doing things like these. You want people with a life wish.
Bad ass professional.
Wow.
I traverse 20' waves in the Bering sea. Scary
Bad ass dude.
I am waiting for my local library to have the DVD, save on the bucks, I can wait for this great documentary
Tc Linn It’s on Amazon Prime if you have it
What a trailer!
Now, go see Free Solo...hands down the best climbing movie ever made.
Meru is better than Free Solo.
@@markbergemann1894 yep

EITS music in the trailer, nice.
lmao! when back on ground, throwing everything onto ground was funny!
Lol the girl asks a question about climbing to the guy who didnt climb the mountain lool
Free Solo was a more impressive feat, but Meru is much more enjoyable movie imo.
What Alex does and what these guys do are completely different thing.
Not comparable
hey whatssap people
Isn't that Jon who spend so much effort in villainizing Sandy Pittman?

Watch this and tell us more bullcrap about the essence of climbing. ruclips.net/video/H8dfc84EF5k/видео.html
This interview must be really old because Mugs Stump is dead.
Rick Ruffin do you know how to find the date it was posted on RUclips? Open the details box.
Jon talks about him in the past tense. Nobody ever talks about Mugs being alive in this interview.
What the hell is a mou-ain?

They didn't consider releasing a film until after the climb, when they realized they had enough footage.
