Cracked Front Tooth

  • A cracked tooth can cause a dental abscess. Once the root of the tooth is cracked, the tooth cannot be saved and needs to be extracted. Replacement options for a front tooth are usually either a dental implant, a fixed bridge, either a traditional 3 unit fixed bridge or a Maryland bridge or a Monodont bridge, or a removable partial denture.

      Hi, glad to hear your tooth is still ok. A hairline fracture won't show on an x-ray. If it is cracked, it won't heal by itself. It's also possible that it's only a surface crack (called a craze line) and it doesn't affect the strength of the tooth.

    In our government dental college and hospital in India, we mostly stick to rpd. Since, the treatment is completely free of cost, we do get a lot of patients and hence it does take some time. But, not more than 2 months for rpd . complete denture takes a bit more longer though. It is because, most of it is done by students under the supervision of professors and there are only few professors and bunch of students for a whole mass of people.
    Anyway, we always give our best and our patients are happy with our work for all its worth.
    This is to say everyone deserves good health and happy smiles..

Why I ruined 2 healthy teeth, because of the one that I had crack on? I don’t recommend to anyone to do a bridge, unless you are cannot have an implant due to the medical condition. Bridge is not the best solution at all ! In my case bridge was done bad . And created me a multiple huge problem that I don’t want to count . Too many .

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  Год назад +11

      Hi, thanks for the question. An abscess is the result of bacteria getting into the nerve space of a tooth. A cavity will grow into the nerve space and give bacteria a way into the tooth. A crack will do the same thing. Even though a hairline crack looks small to you and me, it's a huge super highway to bacteria that live in your mouth. They can easily travel through the crack and reach the nerve space and cause an abscess. I hope I explained that well.

    As someone who's had a Maryland bridge for 10+ years now,
    Don't get a Maryland bridge.
    It's a hassle to clean between the teeth where the bridge is connected, and the material can press up against your other teeth and displace them. More trouble than it's worth and can just give you more problems down the line.

    I have 2 abcesses in my mouth, I pop them daily. If I can't pop them, I will cut the gum with a sterile blade and drain it that way.
    I can't afford to go to a dentist as they said I need to be knocked out because the nerve blocks don't work for me. I currently have 5 broken teeth that are slowly breaking away and falling out. No pain anymore so I think all their roots and nerves are dead lol.
