I love how he keeps disregarding Biker Mice despite being one of the only 90s shows at that time being tolerable today. The original is a classic. We don't speak of the 2000s.
26:07 Pat's immediate walk into frame-realize this bullshit is still going-followed by a backdown and then transitioning into a 'oh no they already saw me in frame guess this I HAVE to tune in again' moment killed me.
I knew this was gonna be the segment y'all would upload. Seeing Woolie go crazy over dumb animal hero teams was great. The Mighty Ducks is still the most ridiculous to me, even though I unironically like a lot of the character designs in it.
As a kid I always confused the cartoon with ducks and the hockey team movie. I always thought it was one or the other. To this day I am STILL confused.
I can confirm that captain Simian and the Space Monkeys was awesome. It was genuinely funny as hell. Also, one of the main villains was a cyborg Rhesus monkey that could shoot his brain at people and choke them with the spinal cord.
Fuck yeah!!!! , criminally underrated show, it also had the best "fighting our fears" episode i have seen in animation outside of anime , it basically stated that all the monkeys got PTSD from the test flights , lol.
Does Gargoyles count as an anthropamorphic animal super hero show? i mean it checks off all the boxes: -all of them named after real world things -all very different and distinct personalities (the tough leader, the hot head, the fat one, the timid one, the dog, the grumpy old man) -have a strong independant female human companion with only slightly awkward romantic interest -had a line of action figures for kids to buy -all of them turned a bunch of people into degenerate perverts
Unfortunately (I mean no disrespect to anyone's religious beliefs by saying this but) the first one kind of wouldn't be considered true to most people on Earth considering the name "Goliath" comes from a biblical warriors name that many would probably say was never real.
I'd say so, especially considering the era it was created in. It was just lucky enough to have a writing staff on board to actually make something out of it rather than fall into obscurity like a lot of these other shows.
Remember when there was a bunch of cartoons based off like PG-13 and R movies? Why was that a thing and why is it not anymore? If Pacific Rim came out in the 80s, you bet their would be a kid's cartoon of it and it would be cheesy as hell.
The Starship Troopers cartoon was damn good, and surprisingly closer to the book than the movie was. But yeah, Robocop had a cartoon, Toxic Avenger had a cartoon, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes had a cartoon, Rambo had a cartoon, Police Academy had a cartoon. And, of course, Conan had a cartoon which famously featured everyone's favourite Evilak.
brokenphantom3g Toxic Avenger is the clue that eventually made me realise that Eastman and Laird were basically trolling the entire time. Like, nobody got the joke when TMNT the comic took the piss out of Frank Miller, they continued to not get the joke when they then turned their 80’s action cheese into a kids cartoon and toy empire... and finally they go and make a Troma film into a kid friendly toy franchise. About a decade later I saw the first Toxic Avenger movie. Then I remembered my Ninja Turtles comics and went “WAIT JUST A FUCKING MINUTE, 1/4 OF MY CHILDHOOD WAS A JOKE AT MY PARENTS’ EXPENSE!” D:
That's a good question zamu2. I'm going to guess it isn't a thing anymore because they wanted to sell toys and it stopped selling toys and original ideas got really popular because they were good. There was a good series, what I've heard, that wasn't kaiju but did have mecha, called Exo-Squad.
I knew virtually nothing about Snailiens before I watched this (Which is surprising for a guy who owns all of Street Sharks on DVD), so when the guys were rattling off their President reference names, I honestly thought it was a joke. XD Also, I love Woolie's unwillingness to let go of the tangent complemented by Pat just walking out of the room.
I judge the quality of a animated anthropomorphic animal superhero team show by one merit and one merit alone: The theme song. I barely watched Extreme Dinosaurs but it's forever in my heart cause of it's opening in all it's cheesy glory.
Selvokaz yes I do. Unfortunate, but that doesn't mean you should disregard everything as a whole. Hell, one of Matt's favorite songs is X gon give it to you. Do you want to know how homophobic that song is? You'd never hear that song on the radio today. That doesn't mean it's necessarily bad, nor does it mean it's good. Just like Hong Kong Phooey, it wasn't made to offend, and considering how bad it *could* have been - like those Siamese cats from Aristocats - it was pretty tasteful.
Man, I'm happy to have soft boi Matt back because all these conversations eventually lead to inane stupid old shows, cereals and toys that are hot garbage.
So, in the same block as Extreme Dinosaurs and Captain Simeon and the SPAAAAAACE MONKIEEEEEES, was Extreme Ghostbusters and G.I. Joe Extreme(EXTREEEEEEEEME).
i3670 you know, that piece of art doesn't really do it for me.Don't get me wrong,i can get my rocks off to that thinking it's a sexy snail girl, but it doesn't really look like a member of the world(?) renowned Snailiens. Still hot tho,not a furry/10
You have to be careful when you’re extending your bullshit animal super hero combos, the hitstun decay gets crazy high if you don’t cash out the damage with toys and merchandise
21:55 My older brother had toys and pocket comics of Snaliens back in the day, I distinctly remember them. I don't think he ever quite got over the fact they never took off. The later playsets got cancelled, the cartoon never got made, just a memory of 90's kids now.
Got an ad for the season finale for Telltale Batman. I hope that LP resumes soon. Batman Season 2 has been the best Telltale game in a long time, which was surprising to me because I thought the first season was only just okay.
Why don't you put a word in my mouth or two. The comics Matt usually praises tend to be the ones I've tried and found terrible. And if you must, I do find traumatized alcoholic with impulse control issues Carol Danvers more interesting than Hero to one and all but also will jail you for future crimes Carol Danvers.
If you like I could write up a whole thing about how Carol sucks as a character and has been pushed harder than Roman Reigns and no one cares which is evident by how her books don't sell
How do you guys not know Tigersharks. It was Rankin Bass and aired Saturdays alongside Thundercats. Team of scientists and explorers who are exploring a planet composed totally of water, can hop in a giant pool that genesplices them with aquatic animals so they can fight evil mutants, pirates and villains. I mean, there was also Karate Kat that aired with them, but I don't even think that made it onto the list on the wiki page so...
Flame of Udun to be fair, since turtles spend so much time in the water, it’s an easy mistake to make. I didn’t know they had to surface to breath until I was like 16
They make that fucking joke where someone says the turtles are amphibians and someone, be it the turtles or someone else, is like no you fucking idiot turtles are reptiles in literally every work of fiction the turtles are in with maybe the exception of the live action movies... fuck sake Pat. Crazy talk is showing no signs of weakening.
they tried to kickstart a swat kats reboot, it unfortunately failed however. Swat Kats Revolution EDIT: WAIT NEVERMIND THERE MIGHT STILL BE A CHANCE FOR SWAT KATS ruclips.net/video/m3AsTYzC6GY/видео.html
There is always going to be at least 2 more of these shows. I don't mean they're making them, I just mean when you think you've named em all...expect more...and expect more.
I came in expecting it to be awful but the theme song got me in, and in the end I thought it was way better than it ever should've been coming out of that era of Disney style TV cartoons that were mostly all awful. Like that one Monkey got destroyed but managed to transfer to an Ancient legendary Monkey body that was empty and got way stronger and telekinetic powers and shit and a way cooler design? And the Antagonist was just a big Space Skull man? C'mon it had some stuff going for it! haha
The moment Woolie says “Fuck the news I’m going back in” should be one of the things that goes into the Zaibatsu lore book for sure.
I love how he keeps disregarding Biker Mice despite being one of the only 90s shows at that time being tolerable today. The original is a classic. We don't speak of the 2000s.
"I'll never stop going in."
That Jelly Jiggler profile pic is magic tho.
And Pat proceeds to check out. XD
Extra points for the Snailiens not even looking like snails. Like... not even a little.
23:17 I love how Pat just fucking gets up and leaves without saying _anything_
26:07 Pat's immediate walk into frame-realize this bullshit is still going-followed by a backdown and then transitioning into a 'oh no they already saw me in frame guess this I HAVE to tune in again' moment killed me.
The woolie popoff at 14:33 was the best... This podcast was awesome.
Thank god, the true beauty of this segment is lost without the visual element.
I knew this was gonna be the segment y'all would upload. Seeing Woolie go crazy over dumb animal hero teams was great.
The Mighty Ducks is still the most ridiculous to me, even though I unironically like a lot of the character designs in it.
Mighty Ducks and Biker Mice for me were much more tolerable than anything like TMNT.
Yo fuck woolie to this day shits all over the biker mice from mars. And as a huge fan of that cartoon I can't let that shit slide anymore.
Man I love the Mighty Ducks. They were stupid and they knew it as the show went on.
Yes! Rhesus II (don't ask what happened to Rhesus I) voiced amazaingly by motherfucking Malcom McDowell.
Oh shit! I forgot he was voiced by Malcolm McDowell!
Fuck yeah!!!! , criminally underrated show, it also had the best "fighting our fears" episode i have seen in animation outside of anime , it basically stated that all the monkeys got PTSD from the test flights , lol.

well i was referring mroe to the other guys: Hudson, Broadway, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Lexington
Really wish Gargoyles would come back.
They aren't animals though that got mutated in a way, they're magic stone.
This is actually the greatest podcast segment of all time
i literally lost it when Woolie told wonder pets to fuck off
woolie spoke to the heart of a generation in that exact moment
Remember when there was a bunch of cartoons based off like PG-13 and R movies? Why was that a thing and why is it not anymore?

There was going to be an Aliens cartoon called Operation: Aliens but it ended up not happening.
*14:37** - THE HYPE STARTS HERE !!!*
*22:43** - THE HYPE GOES INSANE HERE !!!!*
I knew virtually nothing about Snailiens before I watched this (Which is surprising for a guy who owns all of Street Sharks on DVD), so when the guys were rattling off their President reference names, I honestly thought it was a joke. XD

You guys seriously don't know Hong Kong Phooey? He's the number 1 super guy!
Also a jive turkey talking dog
He's #1 with racists!
Bass Liberators have you actually watched the show at all?
yeah but do you also remember the parts that werent so fun by todays standards? lol, "chichi-chung chichi-chung chichi-chung chung chung."
Selvokaz yes I do. Unfortunate, but that doesn't mean you should disregard everything as a whole. Hell, one of Matt's favorite songs is X gon give it to you. Stuff like this is the reason why I love you guys
I love how little of a shit Pat gave about the snailiens
ive never heard such relieving words as "newman's krang"
"That's a slave monkey" - Woolie, 2018
I love how Pat just checks out once they brought up Snailiens
This is peak super best friends
I'm pretty sure Hong Kong Phooey, despite the name, talked Jive. but I could be wrong.
IIRC he had an Asian sidekick who was actually racist. EDIT: I was wrong, it was actually Batfink that had the racist sidekick.
Well this was fun to revisit.
Just noticed that Woolie's dreads look like seaweed now
Is grandma swamp making her return?
Broly-Chan *Secret ingredient*
I've come up with a new a recipe
I really hope that the Detroit LP will use this masterpiece as the intro or/and outro:
ruclips.net/video/XshU1McZ6o8/видео.html
Man, I'm happy to have soft boi Matt back because all these conversations eventually lead to inane stupid old shows, cereals and toys that are hot garbage.
So, in the same block as Extreme Dinosaurs and Captain Simeon and the SPAAAAAACE MONKIEEEEEES, was Extreme Ghostbusters and G.I. Joe Extreme(EXTREEEEEEEEME).
As a G.I Joe fan I can confirm that Extreme Ghostbusters was the good show on that list.
so when is Plague gonna draw some sexy Snailien girls?
It's not plague, but me. imgur.com/kPVA8yR
*sigh*
*zzzzzip*
i3670 you know, that piece of art doesn't really do it for me.Don't get me wrong,i can get my rocks off to that thinking it's a sexy snail girl, but it doesn't really look like a member of the world(?) renowned Snailiens.
Still hot tho,not a furry/10
You are doing *some* god's work. I'm not sure which god, but... Good job! I like this one a lot.
What do you mean. He's already finished it
I was looking up the anthropomorphic superheroes along with them and it was the best part of my fucking day. Holy shit, Snailiens. XD
Now let's learn how to extend our combos with their friend, Max.
You have to be careful when you’re extending your bullshit animal super hero combos, the hitstun decay gets crazy high if you don’t cash out the damage with toys and merchandise
I had a giant rubber puppet of a Street Shark
It was the hammerhead one
Nice
I remember those!!
I had the whale shark puppet
21:55 My older brother had toys and pocket comics of Snaliens back in the day, I distinctly remember them. I don't think he ever quite got over the fact they never took off. The later playsets got cancelled, the cartoon never got made, just a memory of 90's kids now.
21:30 You can see the gears turning in Woolie's head.
Matt is clearly the trash panda of the group. But without him, we won't have Flophouse
I loved the Space Monkeys as a kid. That was a good one
Really disappointed that they didn’t run into SuperRobotMonkeyTeamHyperForceGo.
Legit, it was a pretty good series.
I can't believe this was a 30 minute bit, the look of confusing on my face found new muscles to contort.
This video brought back so many memories of cracked videos, I miss when they were good.
Jim has his Boglins, you guys now have your Snailiens
I can't help but laugh at 55% of the screen dedicated to dating this conversation with the Detroit Beyond Human count down.
19:40 Can't believe you skipped over Extinctioners. It's the best example of an anthro super team comic...before it got cancelled.
Captain Simian was actually legit good, it had some of the best written sci-fi I have seen in a kid show.
Got an ad for the season finale for Telltale Batman. I hope that LP resumes soon. Batman Season 2 has been the best Telltale game in a long time, which was surprising to me because I thought the first season was only just okay.
Pats complete sandbag of everything in the back half of this video is perfect
Johnny Yong Bosch is my Favorite Power Ranger.
No animal hero teams are complete without Littlest Hobo
*With A Shotgun
That's actually unfair. What animal team dealt with the nuclear crisis the way littlest hobo did?
Really enjoyed this episode. Listened to it while doing homework
Never knew that extreme dinosaurs was a street sharks spin off.
I remember that they had a cross over episode and I believe it was on street sharks
Snailiens are the last true heroes.
"Matt's standards of quality are tied to trash"
That explains his love of recent Marvel comics.
Why don't you put a word in my mouth or two.
The comics Matt usually praises tend to be the ones I've tried and found terrible.
And if you must, I do find traumatized alcoholic with impulse control issues Carol Danvers more interesting than Hero to one and all but also will jail you for future crimes Carol Danvers.
are you implying not so secret empire was good? that civil war 2 was good?
Alseid It baffles me that someone thought that was a good way to write a super hero.
If you like I could write up a whole thing about how Carol sucks as a character and has been pushed harder than Roman Reigns and no one cares which is evident by how her books don't sell
SOULKINGSAMA92 even if you didnt like her before civil war 2 was a character assassination
I need the kirby section clipped lol
How do you guys not know Tigersharks. It was Rankin Bass and aired Saturdays alongside Thundercats. Extreme Dinosaurs is a fucking spin-off of Street Sharks, I didn't learn that until today.
7:02 Trigger warning: Pat doesn’t know the difference between reptiles and amphibians
Flame of Udun to be fair, since turtles spend so much time in the water, it’s an easy mistake to make. I didn’t know they had to surface to breath until I was like 16
His stand is in full effect
Flame of Udun eh. It’s pat. It’s become a tradition to see him be horribly wrong about obvious things.
thank god I scrolled down to this a couple minutes in before they got to this revelation. I woulda uninstalled my Internet otherwise
Swat Kats !!!
ProPharah spacecats kickstarter didn't get off so no swatcats like game for us
fuck yeah Swat kats is amazing and I love it. I love t-bone and razor and I want them so badly.
I still say that Bucky O'Hare is the most original and interesting "90's mutant animal hero teams" ever!
Cant wait until Ze Bad Game comes out
"I thought, you made that up"
got me again, got damn thats funny
We need a reboot to Battle Toads, Road Rovers, and Swat Kats.
they tried to kickstart a swat kats reboot, it unfortunately failed however. Swat Kats Revolution
EDIT: WAIT NEVERMIND THERE MIGHT STILL BE A CHANCE FOR SWAT KATS ruclips.net/video/m3AsTYzC6GY/видео.html
swat kats, biker mice from mars, TMNT, road rovers. That shit pure furry material and I love it. It made me a furry
The black guy who voiced Hong Kong Phooey ate shit superhard in the Shining when Jack Nicholson fire axe'd him in the fucking chest
Does anyone have a link to the video they were talking about around 5:50?
God I want a Extreme Dinosaurs reboot so much
A Detroit just human ad played.
8 WEEKS LEFT! :D
23:19
Pat gets the fuck out of the dodge
Immature radioactive samurai slugs fucking killed me.
EXTREME DINOSAURS. Dude, I only saw a handful of episodes on vhs but I LOVED that shit.
If you give Yoko Taro enough money, you can force Platinum to make Teenage Mutant Seinfeld Turtles.
Look gentlemen, we need to talk about Road Rovers.
Bad Day Jay Is it true they took potential episodes to create Loonatic Unleashed?
**looks around very nervously** .... hooo boy, now I know how plague feels whenever ppl mention SwatKats
ilr Sinner...
Where, the hell, is my Street Sharks Platinum Game? You could go underground, pop up, and uppercut/ bite dudes in half. That shit would be Jawsome.
I'm getting them sweats from that countdown of sadness.
I wonder when they'll get around to Road Rovers.
If they were a super hero team,Whooile should be named Repeat,Pat Ginger,Matt America
Pat tuning out was how I felt
21:38 lmao pat just doesn't want to keep the subject going anymore.
I have never smiled more for something that is equally cool and stupid
There is always going to be at least 2 more of these shows. I don't mean they're making them, I just mean when you think you've named em all...expect more...and expect more.
Remember Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go? Its not great.
McSurge but isn't it
McSurge ah but the character designs are so fun..
C'mon it had some stuff going for it! haha
She's not real, bruv.
RefMr Granted I don't remember much of it. All I remember is watching it while killing time for the new episode of MegasXLR and not liking it as kid.
"We're from space, what have you got?"
I laughed so hard! This is amazing!
Pat how can your OCD Anxiety put up with Woolie not being in the middle of the camera layout in the video!?!?
Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills
I thought that was a DZA joke but found out it was real.
Skeleton Warriors
I am over here SCREAMING "DINOSAUCERS"
Oh god I remember Dinozaurs! I feel bad that I remember that show.
Sadly the Super Best Friends can't do the group of 4 anymore :(
Wow woolie seems to love biker mice from Mars shame there isn't a p.o. box anymore.
More of this and more Star Trek talk please
So Woolie wants to extend his combos and likes lofi tracks. Is this lore or just a fun fact?
I actually recall Dinozaurs. I think I had one of their toys.
... Denny's is good. It's customers aren't, but that's a feature.
nah shredder is crazy joe devola
das rite
If these guys implausibly end up loving Detroit, I'm gonna start laughing my a*s off.
Their contracts expressly forbid that from happening.
Jason would that be the contract with machinima or the contract with beelzebub?
That beard makes Pat look taller.
13:03 Would it be weird to have an animal super team that are all female?
I've run the math, and mutation goo has a 5/1 gender preference for males at the least biased.
Wade Spencer technically the Powerpuff Girls are mutants, since they were created in a lab with a mutagenic chemical.
That's probably the closest you're gonna get. I was just poking fun of how those old series all tended to have one token girl at best.
"Hey kids, RIP YOUR ASS!" -Street Sharks
22:43 Hell yeah! Snailiens! 24:28 OH FUCKIN' FUCK YEAH BOGLEECH.COM IS MY FUCKIN'JAM!!!
I unironically love Street Sharks
SPAAAAAAAAACE MONKIEEEEEEEES!!!
GOOD SHOW
GOOD FUCKING SHOW
GREAT SHOW!
