The beauty of a catamaran comes down to SPACE. Yes, stability via two hulls in the water is also a plus. And deck space is nearly twice that of a mono hull. Economy is slightly better - again by design. Let's face it, catamarans offer advantages over mono hulled boats. Nick, you've done it again with one more unique tour. Thank you.
Just saw this boat demoed by brand X a few days ago and found your tour much more substantial. Love the way you clearly give all the details and options without any of the silliness they do. Had I know you had this one coming Nick I would have skipped theirs completly. Many thanks again!
Hello, didn’t know anything about boats until I started watching your videos. Now I watch them every day. Thanks for explaining things clearly for new people like me!
What a great layout for a couple. Love the utility room in the bow. I'd be very happy cruising one of these cats. As always a great review Nick. Thanks
Hi Nick, and this is a great looking yacht fro Aquila the 42 a empresive yacht lets say we make the room in the middle a master with a bathroom of the storage locker I think you can stil store your folding bikes and peddleboards in one of the engine rooms what a space there I like the galley and the master as its on your show with the nice fly bridge enter on 2 ways great Thanks again Nick this is a great show and that in the start of this week ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was initially a little stunned by the price tag on this until you showed us inside. All considered, this model is really not bad at all! Now, if only Aquila could rework their current 44 to become a slightly faster long-range version of this… 🤔 Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, Nick! Thanks for that.
According to, what Aquila host said in the Nautistyles run through of this same boat, that hydrofoil tech used in this boat as a first, will slowly be offered on all models.
Another great tour Nick, thank you. I really like what Aquila are doing and they really are a strong contender for taking me off into the sunset where my doctor can't see what I'm consuming. How is the lovely Marianne doing?
Really like the Aquila cats. The 54 is in my top 3, number 1, depending on my mood at the time. I love this layout. 2 good sized cabins and the overflow in the utility area is perfect for this size. IMO the utility area is a must, just too versatile. I like the idea of a lower helm if you are operating in the extreme heat or rain. Great tour, Nick. Now I need to see what else I've missed.
Nick, I love your red socks!! Thank you for another great video. On a separate note, when will you post the Smugglers video with 2023 upgrades? I am searching for new ideas for my little boat. 😊
Lovely tour. Thanks, Nick! I think I'd prefer the port hull divided into two cabins while keeping the utility room. That would still allow for three cabins on board, and the overflow space or the additional lounge space, while retaining the large deck locker.
Everyone should do their own research regarding engines and transmission. Disregard all the fluff. Whether you spend 50,000 or a million, the most important concern should be your drivetrain. Thanks Nick, another excellent video. 👍
Being in Upstate NY I'd want the interior helm, but that's a really nice boat and it's actually really handy how configurable it is. 2, 3 or 4 cabins in the same hull(s); you don't get that too often. Great tour as always, Nick. Thank you!
That's a lot of boat for the money Nick and would be perfect for a small family. I would think this would be more of a Keys or Med cruiser than a UK or northern Europe boat given the vast outdoor areas and smallish interior spaces. I would love to own this. Thanks as always for the tour.
Great tour Nick.I find it so interesting. All of us voyeurs refer to you as though we’re related. LOL. Don’t edit out your brain cramps. They add to the cache of your brand. Some of the other video brands sound like robots. Keep it real. Cheers!
By thinking of the additional storage space area would be and be better finished off because you could still use it as additional storage space or an extra cabin
Hey Nick that's a cracking yacht from Aguila and with the access to the bow from the flybridge imagine how much extra space could be utilised if they removed the side decks hmmm just a thought, have a great day bud 👍
Great thing about a power or sail cat. Is the wide beam. Whether this 42 or 80plus ft. They give the feel of a larger vessel. So this 42 makes it feel like an 80 to 90 ft in volume etc. I'd love an Aquila 80, or Sunreef 80. Give a superyacht vibe. Being disabled might be my only issue, but if I had the funds I'd make one disabled friendly from new build etc. Lovely little gem for under 900,000. :-)
THANK-you for the wave!!! I'm not really a Cat fan, myself. The forward cabin looks rather nice, but the side berths just feel too narrow. I prefer space below deck as well as on it.
A beautiful yacht as always from Aquila, nice finishes and layout. I think the U shaped galley will be better, I am sure a teenager would love the forward cabin with the wine cooler right next to his bed lol. Nice social areas as well for entertaining. Great tour thank you Nick.
Galley moved into that lower 'utility' cabin area and the saloon free of kitchen clutter and dishes left in the sink vibes 🤣🤣 would be my thoughts on the layout. Cheers DougT
In my opinion, Aquila makes the most interesting boats. Their use of space is awesome and the foils on their 36' and 44' boats to improve fuel efficiency is awesome too. I wonder if they'll put foils on this size eventually.
Nick…. I like your tours…. You focus on the important stuff. Might I suggest that you publish the specs at the end to include gas, water and discharge tank’s capacity… range, tonnage etc. thanks
Aquilas look good on the outside but beneath the skin, not so sure, duct tape around joints in the lazarette 9:16 and also in engine room and I've seen it on the larger models too!
Thanks again for another great video Nick. Quick general question, when new boats are designed, does hull no.1 tend to be lower in sale price due to the snagging issues and adjustments to design? And does hull no.1 tend to be ordered in advance? I would imagine an owner would leverage that risk (albeit minor) when negotiating the purchase?
You're welcome! I think sometimes there might be a consideration, but on a popular brand it's less likely as people have a pretty good idea of what they are getting.
I do prefer when the beds on the hulls go into the bridgedeck where that extra room/laundry is. It makes for a much better use of space and a direct view outside.
It's no Gulf Craft Majesty 175 but it's a good amount of boat for its price considering bigger brand boats prices seems to have gone up hugely compared to 2/3yrs ago,but I still wouldn't have one until I got the question answered I've asked on previous cat tours. Strange to see only one TV in the saloon and none in the cabins. I'd personally have the 2 cabins in the master hull and the other hull cabin as the master retaining the utility room and storage locker but that's me 👌🖖
I love the tours as always, but I’m not 100% sure the the designers have got the best use of space from these Cats as the designers of mono hull boats have. There is obviously more room yet beds are up against walls and en-suites are Hugh compared to the bedrooms, just the thoughts of an interested observer
I agree. I also feel as though that it has more of a industrial/commercial look to it with the light wood panels everywhere. It just doesn't have that cozy feeling to it.
Boat, like car videos always show the top of the line most expensive models, and always give the lowest base model price that no one in the world could ever buy one for.
i came here because people where comparing this boat the the vandal explorer 46. From what i can see is that this boat aquila and the vandal dont compare at all. 2 completely different boats, except that they are both catamarans

Low draft as well, I imagine, which helps if you’re moored in a place that needs it. Would sit flat if it grounds on a low tide as well.
