This is the definition of Man Garage. No mask with rust grinding no problem, no welding shields welding over a gas tank no problem, no c notch kit no problem! Lmao honestly this is the most entertaining garage show I've seen.
Our older trucks in tennessee and virginia have a little more rust than jack black. Frame looks great. What was that stuff ur dad was spraying after he torched the shock mounts?
Spray it with oil, prevents rust and stops if already formed. Travis is right,my ol man zebarted his Camaro back in the 70's and it almost fucked it completely. Since than he's oiled it and he's had it since 73 and still looks mint. Sick vid keep pumpin em out. Fuck it sits pretty.
"I looked right at it" I laughed out loud on that one. Catching that arc is the worst. Takes a few to be able to see again lol. Truck looks Damn good imo!! You nailed it!!
Put on that" chassis saver "that is some good stuff man it feels in the pores of the rust and makes a nice smooth finish that neutralizes the Rust too!
I'm sure someone else already said it, but all that grinding and painting undercoating in an enclosed place, and not a respirator in sight. I think your pop's smoking might be the least of your worries haha.
Love your content man keep up the good work.. What app do you use to edit your vids like that and to put in the time lapse or do you just do it on RUclips when your editing or what old help my bud is about to start letting me use his lap top
That rubberized coating will trap all the rust and moisture and make it a whole hell of a lot worse, should have used fluid film or nh oil or chemically got rid of rust and used por15
Just remember when using that torch that much on the frame, it weakens the metal and possibly the frame, will cause the frame to twist more and distort since those chevy's were not a boxed in frame .
You only paid 600 for that truck? Damn what a steal. Me and my dad have been on the lookout for a 2 wheel drive single cab as well I wouldn't mind to find a 2000-2006 or he has a 89 Silverado but it's a long bed and four-wheel drive so I don't know how well that would work out to make a hot rod
Farm Truck is a long bed. Actually I picked up a 88 single cab long bed with a topper a few years ago at an auction for $300 and drive it 2 hours home. I really wanted to make that truck a sleeper. A 650hp turbo LS lawn care truck would've been dope. It was clean too
@@SniderTron3000 lol ya that would be badass. Our 89 has 350k miles on it and its probably closer to 400k cuz speedo didnt work for a couple of years. But it will need a new 350 one day. But I'm about to build a garage and try and have tall enough ceilings to put a lift in do you have any idea how tall your dad's garage is on the inside? 12ft maybe?
I used the same rust-o-leum undercoating on my 92 OBS and honestly i hate it months later looks like shit id recommend some VHT chasis paint over it 👌🏽 and im in sunny dry Arizona lol
Im thinking about knocking off the factory spare wheel support and welding in a nice thick bar and one for the support near the gas tank as well. Maybe shave some material off where the notch is at, what like a 1/4 inch all the way down? Lol
I did the same thing with my s10. Got rid of the factory crossmember and replaced it with 2 lengths of 2×4 steel tubing. Makes a big difference and looks better
Get a wire cup for an angle grinder. I used to use the wheels on drills or die grinders, but you can put more pressure on and get way more aggressive with a 4.5" angle grinder/wire brush.
Depends on if you're just disconnecting the lines to your box or if you're actually swapping in a manual box. On the 84 Cutlass I had I went with a quick ratio box from like a GNX, or Monte SS I think also had it. But I was building that as an all purpose car and I loved it a lot
@@SniderTron3000 it's a 87 ss and already has the quick ratio but seals are shot and needs replacing so I've heard that manual box has a better road feel and would be less to tear up in future if I do this it would be an s10 full manual box
Think about getting a suburban gas tank, they fit nicely between the rear frame rails and moves weight over the rear end. JB is coming right along, one step closer to burnouts.
Just subbed to you man, been watching your stuff for a little while now. Good shit, love the real homemade work. MotionAutoTV brought me here, check out my friend Trevor's channel if you get a minute. Take care, keep up the awesome work.
Where your dad cut the C notch in the frame I would go back with a sanding pad on a grinder and knock that slag off that the cutting torch left and round off the sharp edges...but that’s just my OCD kicking in you do you man builds gunna be sweet tho
Maaaaan I almost Unsubscribe. U can't deny Cap. INFERNO an opportunity to do work lol. I need to find a truck to drop off ova there. Impressive stuff. Nailed it...... Lmbo

You guys killed it. I could only imagine the amount of snot color rust you blow out.
This channel deserves way more subscribers!!! Awesome content man . Loving the jack black project so far

Loving the videos bro
Only thing I see wrong is your not using any of the “Giant order” you got from me the other day!!
Looks good my friend. Looks good.
Put on that" chassis saver "that is some good stuff man it feels in the pores of the rust and makes a nice smooth finish that neutralizes the Rust too!
Wonder if you have enuff room beside the gas tank to move the leaf springs in board the frame rails then mini tub the bed for some 15”x12”s
I would take out the spare tire bracket and put square stock
Gotta keep that tip clean pops 😆 looks good tho, get that bed back on 👌
I would have used por15 or rust reformer before undercoating the frame
What kind of welder do you have
What's the plan for the rear end?? Is a 10 bolt or 12 bolt?? Do you plan on swaping it for a 9 inch?? What gears you plan on running
Right now it has 4.10's and a spool. I'm gonna run this for as long as it lasts. After that, who knows. Might go 9" or maybe 8.8
@@SniderTron3000 right on man... keep the video coming good content buddy.
Hell yea!! Gettin it
If I bought the stuff would you n dad do a cam swap on my 06 avalanche
You're doing it all wrong! The exhaust fan is supposed to set on SUCK not BLOW!!!!
Yeah now we a back to snow and ice lol have to love mi sometime
Good shit ! Keep them videos coming
If you used the rubber undercoating it’s just gonna rust more
Yuppp. That shits litterally just a moisture trap
Nice. I wish u could have did a back half 4 link type dill. But still nice
I'm sure someone else already said it, but all that grinding and painting undercoating in an enclosed place, and not a respirator in sight. I think your pop's smoking might be the least of your worries haha.
I've lived a good life
I literally watch this show more then I watch tv
Hey if I can afford to bring you out later this year would you bring some video equipment out and get some shots of us working on my c1500?
Lol where you at?
Love your content man keep up the good work.. What app do you use to edit your vids like that and to put in the time lapse or do you just do it on RUclips when your editing or what old help my bud is about to start letting me use his lap top
Honestly, I have a 6 year old laptop and I just use Windows Movie Maker. Nothing fancy at all lol

I'm sure you already know this, but a 5" or 7" grinder with a braided wire wheel would save a lot of time :)
I used the same rust-o-leum undercoating on my 92 OBS and honestly i hate it months later looks like shit id recommend some VHT chasis paint over it 👌🏽 and im in sunny dry Arizona lol
Yeah it's not ideal. But it was cheap and in stock.
Im thinking about knocking off the factory spare wheel support and welding in a nice thick bar and one for the support near the gas tank as well. Maybe shave some material off where the notch is at, what like a 1/4 inch all the way down? Lol
I realised one of those things i mentioned you said you were gunna do lol
I did the same thing with my s10. Got rid of the factory crossmember and replaced it with 2 lengths of 2×4 steel tubing. Makes a big difference and looks better
Fuck that gas tank! I weld where I want
Shoulda used some rust conversion solution to make it easier on your self
Nice to see you took care of the frame! Hopefully it wasn't a rubber coating because it'll rust more in the long run.

need some ventilation lol
I was gona say did you plan to box the notches in, but you sprayed it already lol. Give a bit more strength.
Tie in the inside of the frame i mean.
Lookin good 👌🏽
Need to let me throw some 4.10s or 4.56 and a spool or posi in there and let it eat. It would scream in the 1/4
I sense some favoritism with jack. U didn’t clean up the frame on Goldie
Sweet
Trucks coming along nicely.
Check out elevated concepts inc for the suspension stuff
Cool video man 👍😎
Make some videos out side the garage take them trucks out
Doing what? Both need work and its 30 degrees out lol
@@SniderTron3000 oh lol. Sorry i was wondering why you werent taking them out
Knew even before you threw the empty can you'd miss the trash can, you didn't let me down. #NAILEDIT
Soon dad will be out cruising for chicks on the weekend in Jack Black.
don't worry about the rust cloud that's why they make kleenex
Another great video, really enjoyed this post keep up the great work.
Flash burn and no welding blanket for the gas tank😐🤔😃 this is not osha approved 😆😎😎 looks way better all clean
9:54
It’s looking way better
Very inspiring video. Now I wonna take my bed off and clean up the frame.

Screw the trolls, you guys are awesome!
Opinion on manual steering box on a gbody will be mostly street driven and some on track too
Depends on if you're just disconnecting the lines to your box or if you're actually swapping in a manual box. On the 84 Cutlass I had I went with a quick ratio box from like a GNX, or Monte SS I think also had it. But I was building that as an all purpose car and I loved it a lot

I have no experience with it. Best I could say is it's not difficult to swap them, so it's worth a try
Think about getting a suburban gas tank, they fit nicely between the rear frame rails and moves weight over the rear end. JB is coming right along, one step closer to burnouts.
If i may, what will you do for the wiring? And plumbing? Ive been toying with that idea

No way that truck was 600$
Is was
Oh thank gawd! My OCD was going crazy watching the last video and seeing the frame.

You going to do the same thing to Goldie ?
I probably will eventually

4 words..... angle grinder cup brush
Really hope that wasnt rubberized undercoating. If so its just gonna speed up the rot. It's a moisture trap.
What no POR hopefully that rattle can holds up
Doesn't have to last forever, the truck isn't going to see much salt anymore. Just wanted to clean it up a bit
Would weld those notches on the inside of the frame more
They can't be welded anymore unless I added more material. Welded at 7 joints at each end
That's gay
