Dr. Allred's teachings from President Oaks about how the scriptures can be a portal to personal revelation really opened my mind about how to receive personal revelation. This idea will change my life.

I loved the podcast today! Dr. Allred, thank you for sharing the story about your prayer for your father. Those experiences are humbling to know that out of ALL the people on this planet, our Heavenly Father knows our needs as individuals.

Excellent episode! I learned so much, and it got me thinking about several videos I could do on the book of Hebrews. Thank you for the teachings, and thank you for the shoutout! Love what you guys are doing as well!

I love Hebrews and I love all that both your guests shared and taught us. Especially struck by the obvious but hadn’t spent time considering that God the Father had to create the blood Jesus needed for all of us to be resurrected and redeemed. And all that implies. That was a brilliant contribution. Thank you to all involved.

I got so much different from this weeks reading. I feel that your discussion was at the fiftieth floor and my learning is down on level 5. My take away from this is how much He loves me and how I can actually be forgiven and brought closer to Him.

Can I confess to worrying about who could possibly follow Dr. Grey to complete Hebrews? I listened to this episode as soon as I could because I wanted to know. Well, now I can go back and complete my Hebrews 1-7 study confident that we’ll be in wonderful hands next week as well. Can this 73-year-old also confess to being in love with BYU and Ensign College religion professors? I may not have failed Old Testament back in the day if I had been in their classes.

Any chance Dr. Allred is related to my wonderful former mission president, Ruel A. Allred? I was President Allred’s mission secretary for a year of my mission in Antwerp, Belgium.

With Jesus pleading our cause to the Father, why don't we pray to Jesus?

How does one talk to a bishop who allows the sacred sacrament prayers to be read and said wrong each Sunday? Is it something I’m quibbling about or should it be addressed? These are sacred ordinances being renewed each Sunday and I feel they should be said right

I think that we need to understand that no one is perfect, and as we listen to the Sacrament Prayer instead in focus our minds if he’s going to make mistakes, we need to focus in the Savior and His Atonement

The thing that bothers me about the authorship of Hebrews is that the scholars are not including the nearly 200-year history of Church leaders and LDS scholars attributing the authorship to Paul. Why is that important? Scholars are influential; they matter. But prophets matter more. I hate to see thousands of viewers now believing that Paul didn't write Hebrews. We don't know that. So why continue to refer to 'the author' instead of 'to Paul' as has been done for the past nearly 200 years?
Joseph Smith has no scholarly letters behind his name. But, he attended the ultimate divinity school. He regularly communed with the ancient prophets and apostles. Pres. John Taylor said to ask him what Peter, James, and John looked like; that he could describe them perfectly. For sure the Prophet Joseph interacted with Paul, who could have easily pointed out that he did or didn't write the book of Hebrews.
If the style of writing is too different in Hebrews from Paul's other writings, then we have to discount the author of the book of John and the book of Revelation as being written by John the Beloved. The style of writing between those two books is very different. The same holds true for the book of Isaiah, many scholars saying the entire book cannot have been written by Isaiah; that the style between the first two-thirds and the last one-third is too different.
Why didn't anyone mention the possibility that a very educated disciple of Christ wrote down Paul's sermon, transcribing it for him? That could be a reason for stylistic differences.
This is not an argument for Paul as the author. It is a question as to why none of the above was mentioned as part of the discussion.

The prophet Joseph Smith said Paul wrote Hebrews. So why keep saying "the author"? It's annoying. It seems as though Paul gave this instruction to the Hebrews at a Conference and it was recorded by someone else. Why is that so difficult to ascertain by scholars?
    The lesson itself is interesting.

The prophet Joseph Smith didn’t have access to scholarly consensus. That’s ok. The assumption that the opinion of Brother Joseph to be God’s word can be an easy way to go. Black and white is easy, but it is a huge assumption that can’t be dismissed. It’s ok to disagree with the opinion when serious evidence is against it. I believe the assurance of Paul’s authorship is unimportant.
