    Just came back here to give a quick testimony-I followed your examples listed (especially the tip of giving the interviewer an article or resource they may find interesting) and they got back to me with a job offer; the main interviewer even quoted that they really appreciated one of the articles that I sent to her. Thanks for your help! ♥

      Hey so I am still at my job and I've been promoted. And no, it's no longer my "dream job", but it's helped me tremendously to expand my skillset and I'm ready to move on to something I'm more passionate about. I made a major career jump two years ago so that was a big deal at the time. And no, I definitely don't hate it. It's just not the job for me. Sometimes careers and finding your "dream job" is unfortunately a lot of trial and error. I'm grateful for this channel for helping me to be better at interviewing and for giving me the confidence I need! 🙏

      There’s really no right time frame for an employee to get back to you with a job offer. In my experience, if you don’t hear within a few days to a week, start applying elsewhere. There’s always a company that is willing to hire you without having to wait and jump through hoops.

    • @moeduk2621
      @moeduk2621 Год назад +17

      it does not always mean that. Sometimes the hiring process take up to a month, then you will be surprised with a job offer or a final interview. But that does not mean to stop applying else where, we need to apply everywhere until we land a job, regardless of any other job application.

    • @genew5758

      Good companies will always follow up with you shortly after the interview if they're serious about extending an offer to you. Do you really want to work for a company that takes a month to get in contact with you ? I sure wouldn't.

      @moeduk2621 Год назад +3

      @@genew5758 i agree with you, but if you do not have any choice and you were offered a good offer, i am sure you will take it.
      What I mean, you applied for multiple job interviews, and you should get in touch with them ad long as they did not reject you. Banks and big investment firms takes month sometimes which is really frustrated, they need to find the best if the best candidate with lowest wage. Really no comment and nothing we can do. I have been applying for many jobs and still waiting for many of them, even i still work in a company that I do not like.

    I applied for a grad role, made it through to a one-way interview, then an aptitude test. I took this test last Monday 21st and then received an email last Friday 25th thanking me for completing the test and they'll be in touch this week. It is now Wednesday 30th (end of day) and i'm wondering if I should keep waiting or send an email to follow up about next steps.
    I'm also wondering if I did horribly on the aptitude test (it was hard) would they normally reject you pretty quick?

    The employer may also be wasting your time for their own selfish purposes, such as being able to demonstrate a diverse applicant pool. I've had internal recruiters reach out to me on Monday and on Wednesday state that an offer had just been extended to someone else. I've also gone through a full-day panel interview process, ghosted for 6 weeks and then learned that the duties were given to those of an internal candidate who had interviewed me.

  • @jamespiazza7753
    @jamespiazza7753 2 года назад +2

    Hey big fan of the videos! Lots of great recommendations! I have to say i completely disagree with your point about not reconsidering the candidate which followed back up (six times). To disregard someone so passionate about your company would be a major mistake. Likely that candidate is interviewing with other companies and is not only focussing all his time on yours. However, he clearly favors your company over the others. While everyone says they're specifically interested in a company, while interviewing, this candidate was probably being genuine about it. Not easy to find. A genuine interest in the work a company does is going to allow for the best quality of work possible. You don't have to extend extra effort to motivate that employee.

      If a company chose to take a month to fill a position, the person hired would have at least a month of work to catch up on or more. It would be a very hard job with a huge work load. I generally extend job offers after the first interview. I may tell the applicant I have other interviews to conduct before a decision is made, but ultimately I want to fill this position ASAP. I know every job is different. I interviewed at one place three times and had three interviews. I never got the job. What a waste of time, money and resources. Employers, please don’t do this to people.

    I only follow up if the company offers a decent pay. If I was applying at a fast food then I won't even bother putting time and energy. I would just keep on applying elsewhere. They must have lost their minds if they expect me to dedicate my time and energy to show my interest in working for them if they are going to pay $7.25/hr.
    The only companies I bothered following up was Ross and Dillard's cause they pay decent. The job offer for Ross was passed over to someone else but I got Dillard's. These are the people I would gladly follow up on.

    The recruiter ghosted me after about 3 follow ups from us both. He was telling me that I did great, the directors of the dept are working diligently to fit me in, etc. Been almost 1.5 months & still no offer. Now the recruiter stopped replying. Now, this hospital is notorious for their hiring process taking a long time, but this is insane.

    Is there a way to get companies to give you the real feedback? What I mean is that most times they just cover themselves by saying "Not the right fit." or "We are going in a different direction." I find it hard to get some really good feedback that will help me in the next interview.

    There are 2 slight misconceptions here: 1) Persistence gets jobs - this may be true for a tiny minority of candidates, but not for the majority, as although the recruiter may choose to hire a person who was persistent, most candidates (no matter how persistent) will not get the position, so it isn't persistence that gets them the role. 2) Being persistent means you'll automatically stay with a company long-term - this also isn't necessarily true as job seekers are often looking for what they need right now, and in a year or 2 years' time they might be looking for something new. It's not their persistence that means they'll stay long-term but their commitment to the role when they actually get there, as well as the support companies will give them in their role.
    If it was persistence that got people jobs, I'd have loads of them right now.

    If you haven't heard back from them by the time they said, it's because they offered it to someone else. The day after they were supposed to get back to you, send a polite follow-up email letting them know you're interested, because there is still the chance whoever they offered it to will refuse and that will increase your chances of them liking you as a second option. But do not sit around waiting to hear back from them. Keep looking for something else, and worry about them if/when they get back to you.
