My plan B was a 65a80cl with 5yr warranty for 1499 delivered. Better viewing angle, no blooming, faster by an order or two of magnitude pixel response, and subjectively more natural color. It does great in my average lit room during the day. Anyone insisting on spending $3K should at least look at the a95L first. I think the Bravia 9 will have a steep discount when Sony discovers that most people don't like top tier OLED prices for LCD performance. If your room is super bright or you're scared of burn-in the 7 gives so much of the 9's performance for 60% of the price.
@@upendrajat3164 real talk, i'd go with the Bravia 7, if i had that choice. Much better colors and processing, and WAY better build quality. Sony is just all around more reliable and accurate. And LCD still has some advantages.
@@Evaquiel i love sony but their prices are way off for what they offer . Apart from picture processing bravia 7 is no where near s95d. That tv is sick. Better than Samsung qled but no match to qdoled
You act like these are the first mini-LEDs Sony has ever released. Sony's flagship mini-LED last year (X95L) was more expensive than most OLEDs on the market (at least in America), even when it was at it's most heavily discounted. And the X93L had price parity (at all sizes) with most of it's midrange OLED competitors. Even Sony's own midrange OLED (A80L) was only about 10% more expensive. Sony has never compromised on mini-LED pricing in the face of OLED competition. What makes you think they'll start now after releasing the "best mini-LED TV of all time"
@@vikingsfan2218 chill dude . I am saying that I won’t choose qled over oled in same price range. Bravia 7 cost 2k usd in my country for 55 inch. No way i am buying non oled display at that price
The only important thing here is the backlight and local dimming system. Everyone using a type of LCD TV will know that zone transitions, fast bright-dark scene transitions, will fluctuate the overall brightness with a detectable lag. Also, bright objects in dark scenes leave a trail behind. You can watch light zones trying to cope real-time. Vincent from HDTVtest did talk about it once, it can be like 100-150 ms lag, when it comes to these transitions (we are talking about light bulbs or LEDs, not the grey-to-grey time or input lag). I didn't see that with Bravia 9. I use my pc with my TVs often. My Samsung Q90A, Sony X90J, and KTC M27P20 Pro - all have that light trailing behind and smearing effect. But not the B9. It is so snappy and clean when it comes to light zone transitions. When using it with a pc, it matters. But maybe in a more popular living room-Netflix TV scenario the difference will not be that much of an issue.
That is my thoughts too. Based on what I’ve seen and read, the Bravia 9 truly is a breakthrough with mini-LED. Sony has finally done it. 90% of OLED with none of the downsides.
Yeah that's why I was confused when she said that the gaming experience on both TVs was identical. Sure they have the same specs and everything, but the actual experience of playing cinematic games (especially those with complex, fast-paced scenes which challenge the local dimming algorithm) reveal that the B9 is on another level
I got a 65 Bravia 7 and it is pretty great! If your couch is directly in front and you don’t have direct sunlight on the screen this tv is very good! I think a score of 88 would have been more appropriate! It’s far better than the Samsung QN90C it replaced !
Just got the 65” Bravia 7. It’s amazing. I’m coming from the X900H, which was a good TV, but didn’t get super bright like the Bravia 7 does. Considering the Bravia 9 is basically a reference level TV, and considering the Bravia 7 isn’t far behind it based on multiple comparisons, it’s the best deal this year. The reflections aren’t an issue for me. It actually has better reflection handling than the X900H, so I’m not disappointed. The viewing angle issues only pop up past the 45 degree mark, and even then it’s nothing drastic; just typical LED slight washing out. I had to turn down the peak luminance in SDR, and I had to turn off Adv. contrast enhancer in HDR because it’s TOO bright. The extra 600 nits in the Bravia 9 would go to waste. Blooming is unnoticeable unless you’re watching in a black room and are sitting an angle. I’m extremely pleased with my purchase.
I purchased the 75” Bravia 7 and waiting on delivery. I actually preferred it over the 9 which I found too bright. We will have no problem with glare or angle viewing because of where it will be located. One thing the TV expert also mentioned is that the 9 gets hotter than the 7 which may eventually cause damage. Regardless of this, I couldn’t justify the cost if the 9. Think we’ll be very happy with the 7.
I can get the Bravia 9, 85" for $3,087 and the 75" size for $2,296. My son works for a HiFi company in my country so gets discounts. I might get one for that price. I don't know what size though. I was going to wait until next year's TVs having heard that the new MediaTek Pentonic SoC has been upgraded to the new Pentonic 800 from the Pentonic 700 which this year's models are using, including the Bravia 7 and 9 TVs. The Pentonic 800 SoC that 2025 TVs will be using finally have 4xHDMI 2.1a ports at full 48Gbs bandwidth, better AI upscaling at lower bit rates and WiFi 7 support etc. They will be on Sony's, TCL's and Hisense TVs next year. I don't know if I can wait though. I've been wanting a new TV for a while now. I am using an older Sony 2016, X9300D model, so any TV from now will be a massive upgrade for me.
I will wait for U9N 85” come out first tho next couple months . I have seen the video of UX in Europe . The 65” UX (they sell 65” n 85” ) it’s prob the same thing as the 75” 85” U9N . Glossy . If there's a TV out there that meets your needs and is available for a price that you feel comfortable paying, I say go for it. Personally, I'd rather go for something that's a sure thing right now and enjoy it, rather than wait for something that "might" be better in the future. How do you know your son will still work for that company next year and/or will be able to get you that discount? How do you know the new chips (if the Pentonic 800 rumors are even true) won't cause Sony to jack up their prices? How do you know the new processors won't introduce a host of new software glitches and QC issues that won't be ironed out until the next generation? How do you know there won't be a chip shortage like there was during the pandemic? That's a lot of ifs and maybes versus the certainty of having the opportunity right now to trade $2.3K for a substantial upgrade in your TV watching experience. I say go for it, enjoy it, and forget about the TV market until you're ready to upgrade again. Plus all the potential upgrades you mentioned don't really seem worth it to me. I can add extra HDMI 2.1 ports with an AV receiver or HDMI switcher, and WiFi 7 on a TV seems irrelevant if you can use an ethernet cable or external streaming box with WiFi 7
Meh. I've got an 85" Bravia 9 and purchased an HDMI 2.1, 5-way splitter. So my B9 has 6 HDMI 2.1 ports (@ 48GBs) and it works flawlessly. I'll probably buy next year's best Mini LED TV also though.

Thanks for watching 😄 The number of local dimming zones varies between sizes, so the contrast and dark room performance, in general, are slightly different depending on which size you get. Sony doesn't provide zone counts for different sizes, so we don't know how different they are!
Great video! One thing that confuses me I guess is the HDR Brightness metric. From the comparison, the Bravia 9 achieves nearly 1000 more nits at 2% and 10% respectively, as well as 600 more nits @ 25% but they both get the same rating of 9.3? What would the they have to improve on to get a 9.4? or 9.5? What does a 10/10 HDR Brightness look like?
Rtings weighs heavily their "real scene" brightness measurements which weren't shown in this video, but they measured pretty similarly. I've found their real-scene testing to be somewhat flawed though. They only test three scenes with their TVs, and ideally you'd test many different scenes to get a better idea of how each TV performs on average.
RTings average scoring is notorious for being nonsensically skewed and misleading. I mean, they still provide useful information in their reviews, but take those scores with a grain of salt.
Chiming in about the Bravia 9 vs the A95L with respect to brightness (especially in game mode) - the A95L in game mode is still insanely bright. Make no mistake with her comment, the B9 is brighter, but remember the reference point of the TVs themselves. The A95L is still so bright i turn peak luminescence to medium sometimes

The C8 actually had really good performance. it's HDR specs are actually a little better than the C3. LG started backing off the brightness after that due to burn-in concerns. The main difference between now and then is in other areas, like burn-in resistance, video processing, 4k120hz and VRR etc. Though to be fair, based on the fact that all of the OLED's used the same panel back then, it might make more sense to compare it to a G series. But in any case, they were still really good back then too.

Lg G4, i got it one week back and its amazing. Check B9 for blooming in case you want to buy that. If you are happy with that go ahead with B9 but ill strongly suggest G4 specially when it is such good discount and almost half the price of B9.
Great video. Just want to add to the B9 vs A95L debate, that the images coming out of QD-OLEDs look much more 3-dimensional. I have watched the same content on 2 TV's side-by-side at Best Buy over and over again and A95L's picture looks as if the objects are jumping out of the screen. B9's picture is still amazing (and much brighter in the bright scenes) but not as 3-dimensional as the QD.
@@brokenwrench404 But that’s only in really dark scenes. The A95L beats it in most other scenes, it’s looks better in game mode, and it definitely has the more 3d look because of its perfect black levels. The B9 is a more accurate representation of true life. Some people prefer that but it’s not really a concern for me. I usually glare into a tv to escape reality. 🤷🏻♂️
I saw in a review for the 9 that it is made to remember the last channel you were watching; so when turned on, you don't have to go from the Home screen every single time, to go back to what you were last doing (which is likely what you want to be doing again). Does the 7 have the same feature?
The 7 sure looks great to me. Can't afford one, but I'm so glad to be able to watch RTINGS reviews. The brightness on today's TV almost too much. Don't need a tanning bed in my living room. Hahahaha.
I'm debating between Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 because the price difference is big Can you explain the differences between them and whether the price difference is worth the investment. I mainly watch football in a lighted room. Today I have a Sony OLED TV and it has problems with burning pixels, so I want to switch to a TV with mini LED technology thanks

Bravia 7 is slightly superior but I would recommend saving that money & using it to purchase a more premium Samsung Sound bar, I've been using one, it's worth it.
If G4 is same price as B7 in your country, I'll strongly you to check G4 and B7 side by side yourself before buying. Personally I'll recommend G4 over B7 and B9. Over B7 due to very bad blooming in it and over B9 due to blooming & pricing both. G4 is at very good discount now, you can buy two G4 in the price of one B9.
Do you test games when you do your reviews? At 4:30 you mention that it wont be noticed with most content, that color clamping effect that appears on the Bravia 7 there, and I have the exact same thing on my samsung qn95a. While movies are fine most of the time, games are basically unplayable where you can have a lot of bright highlights moving fast over the screen, all of which goes from bright white to a weird, clamped yellow/blue hue and it looks absolutly horrible and I'd argue that most people would notice it.
It really aggravates me when TV manufacturers don’t make a 55 inch size in their flagship TV like the Bravia nine and TCL both start at 65. Not everybody has the space nor the money for 65 inch TV what happened to 55 Is it going out of style. I think not I think it’s just a poorsales pitch by these companies
It’s impossible because the PS5 requires HDMI 2.1. So I think the Sony will definitely retain 2 ports of HDMI 2.1 or just make the 4 ports all HDMI 2.1.
In the side-by-side comparisons with the image being played at the same time, there is no complete and correct image from both models in any of the rtings videos 😐😅
Two different types of tvs A80L is an OLED vs bravia 7 Mini LED. Both will have similar processing ability and picture quality but a80l will have perfect blacks and enhanced contrast and zero blooming. Bravia 7 will likely be brighter and potentially greater HDR impact in some scenes

That’s exactly what i upgraded from and it’s a huge improvement. No blooming and the b9 has inky blacks. 900h was such a disappointment, Sony preyed on early ps5 owners with the 900h
A month ago you basically said this TV was crap, now it's close? I've been to see this on display, same viewing angles as all the crappy disposable oled's dotted around.
The BRAVIA 7 is better than the X90L. The BRAVIA 7 has better contrast with an improved local dimming solution and is also noticeably brighter than the X90L, especially in HDR, providing more impactful highlights overall. The X90L does have a wider viewing angle, although both TVs are disappointing in that department. The X90L does have a slight edge in response time, which makes it the better option for competitive gamers looking for responsiveness first and foremost. Still, overall, the BRAVIA 7 is the better product in almost every category.
@@Liquid_Cooledthis is what i thought at first but hisense has really stepped their game up! Their tvs are packed with tech at a outstanding price and the specs are very impressive for the price. I got a sony x900h and love the tv at the time i bought it new at 1500 ish and i recommend the u8g hisense to my brother it was 1000 same size and everything and my tv is slightly better and worse in ways to his. 1500 peak nit and 400 dimming zones alot with 120hz 4k at 1000 bucks its pretty serious. So serious it won numerous awards.
This is the comparison i have been waiting for, as good as the Bravia 9 is that price is way more than i am prepared to pay. This leaves the Bravia 7, no way would i buy another Hisense, their customer service is non-existant. With a new SoC due next year i am tempted to wait, it should solve the limitations of this years models. All good things come to he/she who waits
The hdmi inputs are disappointing. I think they all should be 2.1 for what you’re paying even on the Bravia seven it’s about $1500 for the 55 inch and definitely should be all 2.1 on the Bravia nine come on Sony quit being a cheapskate
If money is not an issue, which one for mancave, focusing on movie, sports, gaming, & older tv shows between Sony Bravia 7 & Samsung qn 800c? Assume both at 85 inches, wall mounted.
Actually, if the Bravia 7 was almost identical to the X95L, it would have been a slam dunk. It would have truly been an upgrade over the X93L. Especially at $1,799.
In person the X93L looks significantly nicer in my opinion. Even tho Bravia7 does better blooming n contrast. But they have like same color volume anyway. In a BRIGHT room where LED is for that X93L most glossy screen will OUT weight the down grade those Matted screen cause Bravia 7
The Bravia 7 is very similar to the X95L: it should be slightly brighter, have slightly better processing and slightly better lighting control (you know the demos where Sony took away one layer from the TV and only showed the lighting from behind on the Bravia 9 and you can still guess the content. The Bravia 7 has the same except less dimming zones, the same amount as the X95L) On the other hand, the X95L (and probably your X93L) has better anti glare, better viewing angles and better sound (?). So yeah, the Bravia 7 and the X95L should be quite similar. But I do not think it is worth the upgrade from your still brand new X93L. I doubt the difference is large enough that you can really see an improvement except maybe a placebo effect. I think the major difference to the X93L is the better upscaling (XR Clear or so) of low bitrate / low resolution content. Better wait a year and hope that then the cheaper model has what the Bravia 9 has now, especially the more dimming zones. Anyway, for a simplelton like me the X93L would probably "good enuff" for another 5-10 years 🙄
@@jensuwe22 I don't have the X93L but that one had 420 dimming zones at 65 inches and Rtings measured the contrast ratio at 70,000. The X95L had 480 dimming zones with a contrast ratio of 280,000. It's a 4x difference in contrast ratio which interestingly is also what we see with the Bravia 7 and 9. The Bravia 7 has 480 dimming zones (like the A95L) and a contrast ratio of 100,000. The Bravia 9 has 1,500 zones and ~400,000 contrast ratio. The magic of the X95L was that Sony was somehow able to quadruple the contrast ratio with just 60 more dimming zones over the X93L. The Bravia 9 does it with 1,000 more dimming zones If the Bravia 7 does indeed have the new lighting control of the Bravia 9, it's really not showing in the measurements as it maintains the same ratio as the X93L. Perhaps, if contrast ratio jumped to 200,000 which is half of the Bravia 9, then maybe there's a contrast ratio improvement by the new lighting control. However, contrast ratio isn't such a big issue for the Bravia 7. It's not going to necessarily beat the TCL or Hisense in blacks but Sony is pretty good with its use of dimming zones that it can compete. The biggest issue with the Bravia 7 are its viewing angles and reflections. The X95L's viewing angles (or the 9s) are not going to win awards but just that extra bit helps the TV. The Bravia 7 could have used a bit of help in that regard to just push it ahead of the X90L in that department and bring it in line with the X93L which had slightly better angles and a better finish. Why downgrade the Bravia 7 in favor of more brightness compared to the X93L?
The U8N shouldn’t be in the same sentence as the Bravia 7. The only thing similar between the two is they are mini LED. You get what you pay for and with the U8N it shows.
@@josephmartinez7363you are very wrong too, the x95l from sony was the best mini led overall from last year. It has an va qled, plus very few dimming zones compared to hisense or samsung for example in the same sizes.
Great review - I think the Bravia 7 is really Sony's main product and it's so close to the Bravia 9, that you can easily outperform the 9 simply by using a better scene and color temperature. The one thing that Sony made a mistake with was the glossy finish and viewing angles. They needed to be slightly better to warrant a premium over the Hisense and TCL. They don't need to be as good as the Bravia 9 but just closer to give them an edge over other products.
@@NexGenTek Outperform in the sense of the TV looking better - if you switch to Netflix Calibrated or Professional mode on the Bravia 9 and no light sensor so the image is a light cannon vs the Standard with Warm Temp (light sensor), the Bravia 7's image will look better. But you're right that's probably not the right word.
No. Actually the X95L isn't better than the Bravia 7. Overall the Bravia 7 is slightly better than X95L and easily better than X93L other than off angle viewing and reflections handling.
@@vgnvideogameninja2930 Off angle viewing is kind of a big deal. Honestly, I'm almost never directly in front of the TV. Think others are the same. I think id rather have a X95L then the Bravia 7. I think the Bravia 9 will have a steep discount when Sony discovers that most people don't like top tier OLED prices for LCD performance. If your room is super bright or you're scared of burn-in the 7 gives so much of the 9's performance for 60% of the price.
Samsung s95d and sony bravia 7 cost same in my country. Why would anyone buy it😂
@@upendrajat3164 real talk, i'd go with the Bravia 7, if i had that choice.
I am planning to go for B7 65 inch as well. No direct sunlight on TV would be there but the room is bright. Is the reflection handling very bad ?
@@sumit180288It’s not terrible but it could be better! Everything else is amazing though!
Anyone who pays over 1k more for a bravia 9 just loves to blow money!

In my country B7 and G4 are exactly same price(yes Sony has that absurd pricing in Eastern countries), hence i bought G4.
Great comparison guys 👌!
Thank you so much 😀
I can get the Bravia 9, 85" for $3,087 and the 75" size for $2,296.

Hi Abby, apart from a high-quality presentation I enjoy your very pleasant crystal clear voice.
We need a Sony Bravia Theater Quad surround system review video ASAP! :D Let’s go Abby!

Would love to see comparison between older Oled tvs from let’s say 2018-2019 and latest oleds , I am curious how they improved over time .. excellent content btw 😊

Check out all about tkk. He has a few A95L vs. Bravia 9 videos. The Bravia 9 really shines in dark scenes with better detail
@@brokenwrench404
But that’s only in really dark scenes. The A95L beats it in most other scenes, it’s looks better in game mode, and it definitely has the more 3d look because of its perfect black levels. It's already on their website.
I think not I think it’s just a poorsales pitch by these companies
will sony reduce the HDMI 2.1 ports to only ONE next year? I have this thinking sony is too hard up for money, maybe no HDMI 2.1 ports at all.
It’s impossible because the PS5 requires HDMI 2.1. So I think the Sony will definitely retain 2 ports of HDMI 2.1 or just make the 4 ports all HDMI 2.1.

Actually, if the Bravia 7 was almost identical to the X95L, it would have been a slam dunk. It would have truly been an upgrade over the X93L. Especially at $1,799.
X95L is glossy tho. Bravia 7 is like SUPER Matted(fine grain) . Omg bright room watching anything dim is going to be like Matte tho.
The Bravia 7 has the same except less dimming zones, the same amount as the X95L)
On the other hand, the X95L (and probably your X93L) has better anti glare, better viewing angles and better sound (?).
The Bravia 9 does it with 1,000 more dimming zones
If the Bravia 7 does indeed have the new lighting control of the Bravia 9, it's really not showing in the measurements as it maintains the same ratio as the X93L.
VA Qled means means inaccurate and unstable colors, lots of ghosting, black smearing, no real blacks, weak color from side view, expansieve
The Hisense is actually twice as fast in operating, if not even more. Bravia 7 is very slow for the price
So i have to disagree, you dont get what you pay for in this case. I go with the panasonic, so im not biased towards anyone.

No scene will outperform the 9 on the 7 when set correctly.
@@techsamurai11 You’d have to purposely make the B9 look worse. Why would anybody do that? Same image same settings no chance
I saw the Bravia 7 in store 2X. Its quite--Severly Matted, n QUITE pestle. I would take X93L any day over that Bravia 7. Jsut looks nicer.
the remote on 9 is backlit. I believe on 7 is not
Pretty sure people are waiting for a G4 vs Bravia 9 video…
Hi Abby
I don't think the Bravia 7 is a good deal at all. id rather have the older model, X93L. Isn't the X95L better than the Bravia 7?
Does the Bravia 7 use the same type of tech to increase contrast like the Bravia 9? Need to review Ratings numbers, again.
I want to see a 3-way comparison with the Hisense U8N ($899), Bravia 7 ($1,799) and Bravia 9 ($2,999). That’s the REAL showdown!!!!
Bravia 7 is out . I have seen it . U8N will lose too , becusee they will not turn U8N to clear mode , always on weird Cinema mode --- on Rtings test . Theater night mode is set for U8N where the contrast is auto sit at 14 % ! When the Sony Cinema mode contrast out of box is 60% - pre set .
On Digital Trends , TV- shootout . N Fomo videos Hisense /Samsung t set to be on Film Maker mode .
( contrast at 0%- pre set ) 😮
💯 % won’t make thru anything beside Any SONY lol 😂

@@ColinBenjamin Hisense is a great value but it’s not the same as a Sony. It says 4k but that’s like calling console games 4k that render at 1080p.
It’s a cheaper alternative and you gain some things here and there but also lose a lot in terms of everything. You are going to see the difference in price except in some calibrated mode where all TVs look horrible and all content green and flat.
There's no showdown. Hisense is garbage that gets bright. Only people who shill for Hisense are tightwad cheapskates.
@@techsamurai11 I don’t know if that’s the best analogy. True 4k content is 4k. Sony might shine in upscaling and low bitrate content detail but spec for spec, and head-to-head from what I’ve seen, the B7 doesn’t justify its price over the U8N. And even more true for the incredibly outdated and overpriced x90l. This coming from a Sony loyalist who has only owned Sony TVs for the last decade+.
B9 is probably a bit mor future proof then
I would definitly buy an oled like the c3 or even g3 for the price of the bravia 7. No way i would want that halo effect for that price!
