Hear, hear! I am not religious and haven't been a member of a church since I was a kid, but I truly feel for Pastor Coates and I firmly believe churches should be allowed to open. I live in a tiny town in BC and will start attending our local church via Zoom so I can ask what I can do to help them open.
They still can do that. I in my opinion Pastor John is to old and a very well known brother around the world. America‘s leadership has to become more rude before they put hands on such a honored Pastor like J. MacArthur is. May be in some years the boundaries would be removed to do such an evil 😈 deed. James Coates is a giftet preacher! The government hates such a clear statement as he has had spoken out in public according to the scripture. He became to dangerous. Here some hints to the church history. John Wycliffe the old scholar was spared from the prison, meanwhile the Lollards had been tortured and killed. My English is not the best. I speak German .
From the US here, and you guys are right. Until we the people speak up, it will never end. (And may God use Pastor Coates in jail to be a light in the darkness.)

Pastor James has caused the church to engage in a necessary conversation that needs to take place in our Nation right now. As an Albertan, an ordained minister and someone who has had and recovered from covid, I felt the need to make a video on my channel regarding this issue. Pastor James' situation is a complicated one, but regardless of how we FEEL we must have a necessary conversation about the Rights and Freedoms that our government has profoundly violated!
I am praying for Pastor Coates and for the return of justice and truth in my province of Alberta. It is time for us to speak up and stop hiding in fear in our homes. Let us return to genuinely loving one another as Jesus commanded, which means meeting with others.

Update as of today....Pastor James Coates whom was arrested and jailed...has been denied bail by Canada and will be behind bars until May...keep him, his family and the brethren in prayer

That's not persecution against the church if the government gives you a way to do it.He refused a compromise. We should consider that most pastors would rather preach to 15% groups all week then choose to go to prison and be away from their wives and kids.
I'm from the US. I said what the lawyer said soon after this started to our church leadership. One respone I got was "we don't want to lose our tax exemption". It's all about the money!
@@dcorgan777 I'm sorry that I didn't make myself clear. In the last part of the discussion the pastor asked the lawyer what people can and should be doing? The lawyer said that the people of Canada and the rest of the world need to be "pushing back" against the overreaching government. I live in the US and suggested this to our church leadership. One response that I got is "we don't want to lose our tax exemption". I don't know how many countries have tax exemption. But it's no longer a blessing to have it's bondage.

If governments feel they need to restrict freedoms they need to demonstrate why these emergency measures are necessary, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! In BC, the government has spun it this way: "the churches have provided no evidence from anybody with a scientific or medical background to say the orders are not reasonable." I don't imagine it is any different in Alberta. Governments are acting with impunity. This is what the constitution says: 1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.

Before COVID, did Christian Pastors ensure their churches met local Building Codes, charity tax receipt laws, etc.? Why? Does the Bible allow us to ignore or reinterpret laws we don't like? Bible says: Honour, pay taxes, and do not resist your righteous Kings and other higher powers; for God raised up and gave authority to them as the ordained ministers of God. If man’s law is unavoidably contrary to God’s Law, openly and publicly obey God’s Laws; and rejoice in any unjust persecution or martyrdom that you suffer for the greater glory of God. Instead of defiance, Pastor & congregation need to innovate how to ensure compliance, yet find loop holes or alternatives so that great exploints for God can still be accomplished, the Gospel preached, and the flock tended. The Bible says that God will use the weak to shame the strong, the fools to shame the wise, all to show that the power comes from Him, not from our strength. But if you think that he isn’t well spoken, then I think you should be excited and anticipate seeing God’s power in a mighty way through him. What God starts, no man can stop.

I'm confused here, can he not preach outside? To my understanding the condition does not prevent him from preaching, it's that they wear masks, and keep to the 15% capacity. So why does he just not meet outside where there is no building capacity?

In the Middle East you will get beheaded for saying your a Christian. we meet in separate homes with a person leading the worship then just zoom the sermon in. Different leaders rotate the groups every week and we may rotate members of the congregation also.
I would be willing to bet that the jail is not complying with the government’s own public health order. It would surprise me if it were. If the jail doesn’t meet those conditions, and that’s where he’s housed, well, he’s part of the public, with whom their supposed to be concerned.
It seems so wildly impossible to imagine that the people still willfully in a comatose state after a year of this insanity... will ever wake up. I don't know what to think any more... Sometimes I'm certain it's all a mass awakening happening at turtle-speed, and all is perfect; divine timing. Other times... watching zombies in masks, salivating with excitement over the mark of the beast... that's when I lose my ability to hold on to hope... (I also heard David icke speak in an interview about the coming of 6g and 7g! How will humanity survive that?)
I wish a lawyer would explain what are the legal 'powers' of the orders...on what bases are the authorities feeling or believing that they have the legal authority and power. Obviously they truly believe that they have the authority ..my question is ...what is their basis ? I'm not saying I agree , I'm just trying to understand...is what the health officer has put in place regarding what number they can or cannot have etc. Is it a 'law?' I believe it's called an ordinance what does that mean legally? Is it like a law that is temporarily granted? Is it just pure discretion? Or people talk about how the health officials authority is based on some 'emergency act' . Is that true? Does that really exist ? Does COVID actually meet those 'emergency' requirements? I just want to know the 'legal' boundaries of authority so I can make an informed decision. I also have many questions around 'rights' and authority when it comes to hospitals and care facilities. Thank fully I have not had to deal with these circumstances during COVID but I have had to be a loved ones advocate in these institutions on several occasions and therefore leaving a loved one ALONE in those facilities without an advocate ( family member) is not ok with me under any circumstance, even COVID aside. If anyone has good resources for where to find these very complex legal issues explained in relatively simple terms that would be very helpful. My mother is elderly and I suspect I will eventually have to deal with this to some degree in the future. Thank you. Praying for this pastor, his family and all involved.
In my opinion...A mistake he made was turning himself in at their invite.It was an invite to step into their trap their jurisdiction and by doing so entered into contract with them .I do not consent thank you for the offer but no thanks. Coates' detention is an embarrassment to our nation and completely unnecessary. I stand with this dear brother 100%. God restore our nation.

The Canadian Justice system needs major reform. People not allowed to talk to their families if they are detained is unacceptable in the 21st century.

The lawyer said that the people of Canada and the rest of the world need to be "pushing back" against the overreaching government. I live in the US and suggested this to our church leadership. One response that I got is "we don't want to lose our tax exemption". I don't know how many countries have tax exemption. But it's no longer a blessing to have it's bondage.

I have contacted churches I used to go to and challenged the pastor why they have closed and why they have not stood up for Jesus Christ. They laughed at me. Yes, the actually laughed with evil derision and mocking straight at my face. Shame Village Church in Surrey. Shame Cloverdale Baptist Church. You have shown you are not true Christians.

If governments feel they need to restrict freedoms they need to demonstrate why these emergency measures are necessary, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! In BC, the government has spun it this way: "the churches have provided no evidence from anybody with a scientific or medical background to say the orders are not reasonable." I don't imagine it is any different in Alberta. Governments are acting with impunity.

The Bible says that God will use the weak to shame the strong, the fools to shame the wise, all to show that the power comes from Him, not from our strength. It is God’s story, God is the authority, ans he often chooses those who don’t seem fit to complete the biggest tasks - Moses had problems with his speech yet was called to be God’s spokesperson. David was a small, young man but was called to fight Goliath. The list goes on. I’m not saying that I believe James Kitchen is a fool or weak, to be clear. But if you think that he isn’t well spoken, then I think you should be excited and anticipate seeing God’s power in a mighty way through him. What God starts, no man can stop.
Pastor Coates tasted just a tiny bit of what our brothers and sisters in Muslim countries go through everyday. And he has God smiling. But get ready brothers and sisters because this will become the norm as we get closer to the rapture and the tribulation. Praise Jesus!!
I'm confused here, can he not preach outside? To my understanding the condition does not prevent him from preaching, it's that they wear masks, and keep to the 15% capacity. So why does he just not meet outside where there is no building capacity?
He should have just spread it out, to have several services to comply with the law. In my neighbourhood, they are doing it, and it works just fine.

In the Middle East you will get beheaded for saying your a Christian. we meet in separate homes with a person leading the worship then just zoom the sermon in. Different leaders rotate the groups every week and we may rotate members of the congregation also.

I would be willing to bet that the jail is not complying with the government’s own public health order. It would surprise me if it were. If the jail doesn’t meet those conditions, and that’s where he’s housed, well, he’s part of the public, with whom their supposed to be concerned.

I wish a lawyer would explain what are the legal 'powers' of the orders...on what bases are the authorities feeling or believing that they have the legal authority and power. Obviously they truly believe that they have the authority ..my question is ...what is their basis ? I'm not saying I agree , I'm just trying to understand...is what the health officer has put in place regarding what number they can or cannot have etc. Is it a 'law?' I believe it's called an ordinance what does that mean legally? Is it like a law that is temporarily granted? Is it just pure discretion? Or people talk about how the health officials authority is based on some 'emergency act' . Is that true? Does that really exist ? Does COVID actually meet those 'emergency' requirements? I just want to know the 'legal' boundaries of authority so I can make an informed decision. I also have many questions around 'rights' and authority when it comes to hospitals and care facilities. Thank fully I have not had to deal with these circumstances during COVID but I have had to be a loved ones advocate in these institutions on several occasions and therefore leaving a loved one ALONE in those facilities without an advocate ( family member) is not ok with me under any circumstance, even COVID aside. If anyone has good resources for where to find these very complex legal issues explained in relatively simple terms that would be very helpful. My mother is elderly and I suspect I will eventually have to deal with this to some degree in the future. Thank you. Praying for this pastor, his family and all involved.
